1842804 tn?1319756311 Tried Provigil, tried Ritalin, ended up on Strattera and it's been a perfect godsend for me! (I did not have trouble with Provigil and Ritalin--they helped a lot, although Provigil had an uncomfortable late-afternoon "letdown" effect for me), but after a year or two they did not work so well.
Avatar n tn People assume he is not bright, but in IQ testing, his verbal and nonverbal areas are in the normal range. Executive functioning and working memory are low, so testers dont add the scores because they feel it misleads. Sometimes he is given second chances in testing because he will blurt an incorrect answer before thinking--but knows the right answer. I have noticed when he is on ritalin, there is an improvement with his interacting and he comes across clever.
Avatar n tn This in itself is not always a problem. It becomes a problem if it leads to persistent weight loss. Strattera is a treatment for ADHD that is not in the psychostimulant family of medications. It does not suppress appetite and is quite an effective medication, particularly for those children who are inattentive but not hyperactive.

Avatar m tn re in an alcohol/substance related group - memory loss can be associated with drinking. It can be associated with many other things, too - from different medications, mental or cognitive health conditions, and even sometimes stress. Avatar m tn I have had sleep apnea for many years and recently I have been experiencing short periods of memory loss . I will be doing something then I will forget what I was doing or where I am . It only lasts for 5 to 15 seconds then I am back to normal and I remember what I was doing and where I am. I am able to function during these episodes . It seems to happen when I am relaxed as apposed to when I am concentrating on something. Any idea as to what is happening ?
