strattera

Avatar m tn Yesterday, I noticed that you suggested Strattera to another mom for tics. Our doctor told us also to change to Strattera.
Avatar f tn A combined analysis of 12 studies of Strattera showed that in children and teens this risk was 0.4% for those taking Strattera compared to none for those taking a sugar pill. A similar analysis in adults treated with Strattera did not reveal an increased risk of suicidal thoughts. Call your doctor right away if your child has thoughts of suicide or sudden changes in mood or behavior, especially at the beginning of treatment or after a change in dose.
Avatar f tn t been on medicine for it since college. Starts out with my former medicine, strattera, but when I would take it I felt my heart was out of control and my blood pressure went up. Now on wellbutrin for about a week but I feel foggy and it is causing worse ibs. Not sure if that side effect will go away but giving it a try. My question is, if anyone can answer, why was I able to take strattera as a child with 0 side effects and then high heart rate etc now.
Avatar f tn Strattera is a non stimulant med used for ADHD. Whether or not it would be effective for you, I don't know. This site lists almost all possible treatment options. Although for some reason, I couldn't find Strattera listed, so you need to google that. The site is http://www.healing-arts.org/children/ADHD/medications.htm And the following site also lists (with info) non stimulant meds (they do mention strattera). http://www.baltimorepsych.com/NonStimulants.
Avatar n tn My main concern now is that they (his doctor and mother) have elevated his drug regimine to include 3 drugs that have known interactions with each other, 1 (Concerta) that is known to potentially cause sudden death, and 2 (Clonidine and Zolpidem) that are not recommended for children. Although Strattera does have some potential side effects, I believe it is by far the safest.
Avatar n tn My 8 year old stepson has been on strattera for ADHD for 7 weeks now. 25mg a day. there have been no side affects except a little tired in the begining few weeks. obviously everyone can react different but my son has had no problems with it. I do watch him closely just in case any arise. I also like that it is a non-stimulant compared to everything else out there.
Avatar n tn It does not suppress appetite and is quite an effective medication, particularly for those children who are inattentive but not hyperactive.
Avatar f tn methylphenidate (focalin) is what my grandchild has taken for 3 years he was very small for his age and mentally delayed he now takes abilify and strattera....

979428 tn?1253399601 Boy, 7 year olds can be very picky eaters. Not knowing the parents dietary habits makes this a hard question. Breakfast is huge. The medication should not have kicked in at this time. This should be a meal where he really bulks up. Many families skip breakfast - they cannot allow this to happen. If he is eating school lunches, this could also be a problem. He needs his own lunch and what he wants.
Avatar n tn I did some research and strattera does cause weight loss and it can be a problem for children you may want to discuss it with the Doctor I copied this out ..... Strattera® (atomoxetine hydrochloride) is a prescription medication used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). There are a number of possible side effects with Strattera, and weight loss is one that appears to occur commonly. For some people, this may be a good thing.
Avatar f tn Strattera is not a psychostimulant. Ritalin, Metadate Anderall are. Strattera is anothr type of medicine for ADD that doctors usually use when the stimulants do not work. Strattera rate of working is not as high as stimulants.
Avatar n tn com it will give you some interesting feed back. Not easy is it trying to do the best you can for your Children sometimes maybe time to take a step back and try another way.
Avatar n tn Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
687098 tn?1240889420 As I am sure you know, risperdal is an antipsychotic medication. Stimulants and selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (Strattera) are most commonly prescribed to manage symptoms of ADHD. Not every child can tolerate stimulants, but it sounds like you have not tried this course yet.
Avatar m tn I've been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy. A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
Avatar f tn My doctor has me on welubturon 150mg, strattera 25mg and klonopin 1mg. The klonopin for sleep. I love the way the other two make me feel throughout the day. Focused, happy. However, I work for a gym and my physical abilities are very important as they are my job. Ever since I've started the strattera, I'm only able to give about 60% and I still feel flu'ish. Weak, sick, cold sweats. That's not me. They want me to try this for three weeks.
Avatar n tn t seem to work for me, they make me extremely irritable and give me chest pains. Tried strattera but it made me extremely emotional, to the point of sobbing for no reason. My doctor put me on Buspar, 5 mg 2x a day to help with my ADHD...but I have not read any solid literature on Buspar and its effects on ADHD symptoms. Is this a good drug to go on for ADHD? Has anyone else been on this drug for ADHD?
Avatar m tn Does strattera give any false positive reading for a urine or hair follicle test? Would it come up as a amphetamine or methamphetamine, or any other illegal substance?
Avatar f tn My son developed Raynard's Phenomen after taking Strattera. Weaning him down on the dosage reduced the symptoms. His hands otherwise where blue, white, and cold through out the day. He had a reaction from the stimulants and can not take them. HAs anyone used accupuncture for controlling ADD symptoms?
Avatar n tn My son has been on ritalin for 12 months he is now 6 and the last week he has just developed eye movements that i was concerned might be a tic. He is extremely anxious , especially when on his medication in strange unfamiliar settings but does quite well at school and has lots of friends. He has been out of routine of late with school holidays and 10 weeks ago had a increase in medication to 1 tab in the morning 1/2 at lunch and 1/2 at 3.30 pm.
Avatar n tn The Adderal XR was effective at combating my ADHD symptoms but made my anxiety worse, so my doctor prescribed Strattera. I found the Strattera to be not nearly as effective as Adderal XR, so without consulting my doctor, I began taking both medications together. This is working extraordinarily well. The Strattera seems to ease my anxiety while slightly reducing ADHD symptoms and the Adderal XR nearly eliminates the remaining ADHD symptoms.
Avatar m tn Opps, I was wrong. concerta is a stim drug. Here is better info: classes of medication are available for treating ADHD: * Stimulant medications, such as dextroamphetamine-based drugs (Adderall, Vyvanese) and methylphenidate-based drugs (Concerta, Daytrana, Ritalin). They are also available as generics. * Nonstimulant medication, such as the antidepressant bupropion (Wellbutrin and generic) or atomoxetine (Strattera), which is not available as a generic.
Avatar f tn My 8 year old grandson has been on strattera and prozac for a year now. About a month ago he starting acting out in very strange ways. He pooped on the floor in the school bathroom and blamed it on someone else, then urinated in the school bathroom and swears in wasn't him. He went into his grandfathers barn and threw plastic bins of collectibles all over and broke things, then took mail out of neighbors mailboxes and threw it in the water in the ditch.
Avatar m tn The pediatrician started her off with 18mg Strattera. The results were immediate and amazing. For the first time ever she would sit and do her homework (alone) without getting constantly distracted. A math paper that would previously have taken an hour or two to get through suddenly was done in minutes. She also stopped getting into trouble with her teachers, and was SO cooperative at home. No arguments, frustration, or tantrums for weeks!!!
Avatar n tn I have been on Pristiq 100mg for 3 months, Wellbutrin 150mg for 5 weeks and we added Strattera 40mg. Pristiq for PMDD, Wellbutrin for motivation and Strattera for focus. Separately they help each thing only. So was wondering if anyone else is on a combo like this and it’s helped. And how long. I seem to be anxious more lately before adding Strattera....hoping this helps it. No libido what so ever.
Avatar n tn t meet him (my psychiatrist)for another month. How can I get him to let me be on adderal instead of Strattera when he is afraid I will get addicted? I don't care if it's addicting, I want to live out my life focused and able to work, not dizzy and constipated on the streets where Strattera will lead me I am afraid. Some people are different than others. Why is he limiting me to Stratterra? Is it because of my age?
