I am suffering so bad with concentration and focus its affecting my work BAD... Is it safe to take lexapro and strattera? and is it safe to take lexapro and ginko biloba untill i get insurance to get strattera ...God i feel like a mess. Cant read a sentence without forgetting what i just read. My mind is racing constantly. any info would help...
I also have ADD and the combination is a killer. I am on Lexapro and Strattera. I am trying to find a forum that deals with older adults since I am in my fifties, and any new research that can help bring more quality and happiness to my life.

I have stopped prozac as well.. I was on it from 2006-2008 after switching from Zoloft ( it pooped out) In the spring of 2008, I began having hot flashes and heart palpitations. I was 39 at the time, so I thought it may be perimenopause. I also was having light/scant menstrual cycles. I did, however, add strattera to the mix which may have caused problems ( Strattera and Prozac are chemical cousins and sometimes don't play well together) I added the strattera under my pdocs supervision.
He said he can tell i do not have ADD, but he diagnosed me with GAD(generalized anxiety Disorder. he prescribed me lexapro and so far i feel great. i feel as if my brain is not in a cloudy state. i do feel headachy some times but it seems like i am nnot as jumpy as before and people have taken notice. i am not saying this is what it is, but it does seem to be helping dramatically. Maybe some of you should go the anxiety route to see if you have GAD.

I've been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy.
A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
Stimulants was horrible for him became very violent. He was on strattera and rispedorol and all he did was wake up eat and sleep. The medication was effecting his motor skills, his reaction time was very slow, like his reaction in the game was horrible, and he had alot of twitching and tics... He is now back on strattera and abilfy... He is doing great in school straight "A".. still hyper....
I am on that combination and it works great. I was taking Lexapro 20 mg with Wellbutrin and was fine. How long have you been on Lexapro? My doc started me out slow with a week of 5 mg then 10 mg and so on. I know jumping into 20 mg for me was exhausting. Best of luck.
My doctor has me on welubturon 150mg, strattera 25mg and klonopin 1mg. The klonopin for sleep. I love the way the other two make me feel throughout the day. Focused, happy. However, I work for a gym and my physical abilities are very important as they are my job. Ever since I've started the strattera, I'm only able to give about 60% and I still feel flu'ish. Weak, sick, cold sweats. That's not me. They want me to try this for three weeks.
Neck problems can cause this, and I should know, my neck is a mess. Both the Prozac and the Lexapro can cause this, with the Lexapro being more likely to do it but any drug affecting serotonin can do it. I don't think this is peripheral neuropathy, that is constant nerve pain. Could also happen if you snap your neck too quickly, as that's the center of your nervous system.

Hi all my doc just prescribed straterra and i will be stopping adderal. Adderal made me super paranoid and angry. Anyone know anything about strattera? Any experience? I'm afraid my add is going to skyrocket since Addy is obviously stronger. I took adderal for about two and a half months.
(1) The Strattera success rate is not as high as stimulants to control ADHD (2) When there is a side effect with Strattera the risk is much higher of how serious the side effect will be due to the fact that this med impacts the liver and also the lawsuits seem to be much more serious than the lawsuits for stimulants. My husband decided that we should not change to Strattera.
Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
ADHD and oppositional behavior are not treated with one medication. The most frequent combination is a psychostimulant to treat the ADHD and an antihypertenisive (like Clonidine or Tenex) to addres the oppositional behavior. One thing you might consider is employing Strattera ( a non-stimulant) to treat the ADHD and to divide the Clonidine dose over the day to address the oppositionality.
