Common Questions and Answers about Strattera and adderall together

strattera

Avatar n tn Hi, I've been on strattera for 6 days now and when I take it in the morning, about 2-3 hours after taking it I get pretty intense anxiety (heart beats fast, chest feels heavy, my whole body gets tense, my breathing feels shallow) I'd say this anxiety fully subsides in around an hour. It's the same reaction I've had to stimulants, which is why I'm trying strattera. My doctor gave me 0.25mg of xanax for this reaction and it takes it away COMPLETELY.
990354 tn?1307136486 I have been on both strattera and adderall. adderall is very addicting to this (me) addict. The strattera didnt give the buzz adderall did. ALSO many people have reported adderall increased depression. I hope this helps. Congrats on getting off the opiates. YOUR AWESOME !!
990354 tn?1307136486 I mean I have SO many extra pills and every now and then I take 40 adderall instead of the vyvanse all together. I know which days I can work around but I don't take the medicine for fun, it stressful enough with or without meds. I don't think anybody with ADHD really takes adderall for pleasure. I'm not trying to attack anybody just trying to be helpful ! Hope my post shows the complexities of ADHD management.
Avatar n tn 5ml pm daily and this helps, but this is still what we are facing, even with meds. We have also tried clonidine, strattera, Zoloft and Ritalin, with the results being none or being even more activated. I have taken behavior management classes, he has been in therapy for his AS for several years, I have researched extensively online and attempted to implement every strategy I have come across, to no avail. I am exhausted physically and mentally and do not know where to turn.
Avatar n tn If my adrenaline gets up, I lose motor coordination in my hands, and then my nerves get even more jangled as I drop things and become less and less efficient. and naturally I get furious at the person who is causing me extra problems. But of course, the person has no idea that I'm just trying to get some peace and quiet so I can think straight and be halfway efficient with what absolutely has to get done.
Avatar n tn Pediatrician out of town, and us and partner, decided to wait for doc to get back, and i researched, and wrote to you. Good answer to get off, and maybe try strattera. Problem is kid will not take a pill/capsule. We even tried the stratta broken into food, though not studied, but alas it turns out to be very bitter, as bad as meds can get, and even on recommendation to try compound pharmacy to remake it to taste better or maybe liguid, turned in to brick wall.
Avatar n tn Rather small doses of stimulant medication have been found to be useful in conjuction with strattera. A possible route to go would be to increase the strattera dose and decrease the adderall XR dose. It often makes sense to exhaust the various options with medications a child is currently on vs changing the medications.
889551 tn?1416188083 He mentioned strattera (but he said he didn't feel that it worked), adderall, and Ritalin. I'm currently on abilify and wellbutrin for depression and these meds, along with adderall and ritalin lower the seizure threshold. I don't have seizures, but I'm a bit hesitant to take these meds together as there is a drug interaction between them. My questions is has strattera worked for anyone here? and has anyone ever been on wellbutrin and adderall or ritalin?
Avatar n tn he is now on ritalin 5mg twice daily but he still has tantrums daily and is aggressive with everyone. strattera was tried but it did not work and ritalin was resumed. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn We had tried Adderrall, Concerta and Focalin for my daughter (7 at the time) and it seemed to make her violent. Once we switched to a non-stimulant (strattera) it's helped a lot. We see a psychopharmacolgist who specializes in medicating children with ADHD. She had said it takes some time to tell whether a medication is working, that it would probably take trying a few different meds to see which one is best, and that it gets worse before it gets better.
Avatar n tn I am now taking adderall only--it helps the ADHD but not perfectly and not fully. I'm still struggling with the anxiety and OCD. It also feels like adderall is a "force-fix" for the focusing but this is probably due to its characteristic of being a stimulant.
Avatar n tn Albuterol can increase heart rate and blood pressure, and strattera can potentiate both of these reactions - i.e., it can make the reactions more pronounced. Diagnosis of any emotional or menatl disorder is performed by applying standard diagnostic criteria and, if diagnostic critera are met, ruling out other possible explanations for the symptoms. ADHD sometimes occurs without the presence of any additional conditions, but it also exists alongside other conditions (e.g.
Avatar n tn boosting his self-confidence and assuring him he is loved and safe in his home (there has never been any type of incident that would justify his fear/behavior, and he had these night fears prior to being put on the adderall XR); limiting caffeine intake; increasing daily activity, reading bedtime stories together, and he even has a consistent bedtime of 9:30 p.m. He has woken as early as 2:30 to 4:30 a.m.
Avatar f tn Prozac and Paxil both significantly block the pathway for the metabolism of adderall and all the amphetamine products. [Wellbutrin and Cymbalta can block 2D6 at their higher doses.] If you take either of these two antidepressants together with an amphetamine, just watch out. You can significantly become overdosed on the amphetamine and suffer significant side effects. Often this interaction can unpredictably occur several months later.
Avatar n tn We've tried strattera and Concerta previously and they both worked well for a while. One day, they just quit working. Anyway, we're not seeing much improvement with the adderall XR. She's been on it for almost 3 weeks. I'm worried about the ADHD being under control, but I'm also concerned about something new that has come up. Actually, it's not that new. She is now unable to touch paper when her hands are dry.
Avatar n tn The first semester I took strattera and adderall I earned a 3.87 gpa when I'd been at or below a 3.0. though I was in connection with one of the practitioners that worked on the clinical trials she was willing to use the combination which some others have express concern about the mix out of their lack of fimilarity with the drugs but what can you expect from Indian health services...
Avatar n tn I quit cold turkey, went through MAJOR depression, and then moved to be with my now husband. I was diagnosed ADHD about 1 and 1/2 year ago. Tried strattera (didn't want a stimulant), but it made me sick (nauseous) every day for eight months. Now I am on Concerta and it works great. First concern, it is a stimulant, while when I first began taking it I was super exicted to basically be on legal speed sometimes taking four pills a day and then some at night, too.
Avatar m tn I have never taking any meds until now. I am on zoloff and adderall. My feet are cold and my hands are sweaty. I went to the hospital because my left foot went blue. I did not know the meds caused this till now. The hospital diagnoised me with phelbitis. But its not its the result of adderall. I wonder why the dr didnt put two and two together. Anyway, I wanted to know if anyone out there knows when I will stop climbing the walls.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with ADHD (ADD) this summer and the thoughts started up around the same time I started taking adderall. I am off of adderall now and onto vyvanse but for the period in between the two I was taking strattera. The thoughts didn't go away while I was on the non-stimulant strattera. I have extremely low self esteem which may be the root cause of my doubts in my sexuality (this is a big one). I typically think that I'm not good enough for anyone that doesn't already know me.
1666464 tn?1303228958 Now, a few weeks ago I started taking Vyvanse and completely discontinued my adderall. In fact I waited a whole 24 hours until my last adderall pill to take Vyvanse just to make sure I was safe. When I began Vyvanse treatment it really worked. It kept me focused I was pretty much where I wanted to be. I had some tension and anxiety but I could cope with it. Vyvanse was giving me the clarity that I was looking for with some side-effects that I could manage, at the time.
Avatar f tn Stratterra is not used to help him sleep. I took strattera and I had rapid heartbeat, tics and extremely tired and I am 33 years old. I would do some research on the two drugs being used together. strattera is a dangerous med. and can cause many problems and the doctor should definetely know that Vyvanse is not prescribed for children under 6. be careful as to what they tell you is right for your son.
210376 tn?1207913324 I just put my other daughter in cyber school because she was failing everything in public school and just couldn't get it together. She was too distracted by the social issues in Junior high school. She finished off the year with A's and B's in cyber school and she loves it. She is 14, so she is old enough to be home alone, but of course you would still need a babysitter. It would be worth checking into though. If you can find someone who can deal with your son.
544292 tn?1268886268 So glad you are choosing to join us. This is the place to be if you want off Tramadol. Lots of love, information and empathy here!
Avatar n tn Recently I brought him to a psychiatrist and he diagnosed him as ADHD and prescribed him strattera. I am having mixed feelings now as my mom, a psychologist, says that he is very well-behaved when I am not around, it's like he's afraid to lose me after the lost of his dad and just acting up or demanding my constant attention when he's with me. I thought an ADHD child would be hard to control regardless of who is around or not around?
Avatar n tn I took him off the meds for the summer but never put 2 and 2 together. 3 Days before school started this year I started him back on his meds (same dose) 2 or 3 weeks on the meds he started the eye blinking. I took him off the meds immediatly after speaking with his dr. I seem to notice the tics more often when he is in sports or under stress. The tics did go away but as I said when he is under stress they seem to come back. I am praying they go away.
Avatar n tn I took adderall and I wound up a depressed, nervous wreck on the stuff and I only took 10 mgs a day during the week for work only. Some people do not react well with the drug and it sounds like your son is one of these people. I personally think no one should take them but that's just my opinion.
Avatar f tn He has been on just about all the adhd meds concerta, focalin, tenex, strattera, vyvannsse, and takes adderall as needed. and has been on multiple mood stabilizers to from serequal, lithium, risperidal, abilify, depakote.
Avatar n tn last yr at the start of school he was having problems and we took him to the dr and he was diagnosed with adhd and is now on adderall that does help him alot at school but at home it barely helps at all he is a little bit easier to talk down (or should i say was). he is the oldest of my four kids i also have a 4.5 yr old girl a 3.5 yr old boy and a 2 yr old girl. im very scared for them mentally and physically.
