Common Questions and Answers about Storing breast milk refrigerator

milk

Avatar f tn My main goal is breast pumping. My doctor said that I could pump and freeze my bottles. After how many hrs are they considered to old and can't be used???
Avatar f tn Pumping Will not yield anything worth storing. Which unless you deep freeze Will only store safely in a refrigerator/freezer for three months. Next nipple stimulation can bring on preterm labor...all in all, it's not a good idea ! Wait until birth to pump and freeze milk.
7381903 tn?1391464888 I worked in the NICU and was responsible for mixing breast milk with additives for babies that needed it. You can keep fresh breast milk in your fridge for up to 4 days. If it is not used in that amount of time you freeze it. Use the fresh before you use frozen! It is a good idea to use stickers to know which milk to use first.
229857 tn?1319029907 you can store it in the fridge for 2-3 days just make sure you date the milk also it can go in the freezer i think for upto 6 months and it is good to use the breast milk storage bags so you can date them also and then you can take them straight from the freezer and put the bag in the baby bottle warmer. when you buy the breast pump there should be a little book about breast feeding and everything that comes with it.
Avatar f tn How long can breast milk stay refrigerated before it can no longer be given to a baby?
8526246 tn?1405601876 How long after pumping is breast milk good for without refrigerating or do I have to refrigerate right away? I want to pump and feed without having to refrigerate and thaw but not sure if its not ok to do so.
5913031 tn?1382391190 How long is breast milk good for in the refrigerator??
Avatar f tn I have been pumping and storing breast milk for my princess and it seams like the amount is slowing down what can I do to get it back up I do not want to give her formula at all!
Avatar f tn It's not milk supply. Your body doesn't store milk. It makes it on demand when baby is born. It is the glands waking up to prepare themselves to produce (not actually producing yet). If fabric on your nipples is an issue I recommend wearing Medela breast shells in your bra and also, the lansinoh soothies gel pads. They are amazing!
Avatar f tn So I have had heavy and itchy breast for a few weeks now. I checked to see if I had milk and drops came out!!! Im only 21 weeks! !! Is this normal? ??
Avatar f tn 48 hours in the refrigerator and 6 months in the Freezer. If you are going to Freeze your Breast milk, thaw it in the refrigerator completely before you heat it, or it will look clumpy and unappealing.
Avatar f tn I pumped nd stored sum breast milk in the refrigerator nd forgot to label the date I think its been in there a lil over a week my son has his doc app tomorrow nd I shall be given it to him then will it be still safe or should I throw it out??

1661682 tn?1313135396 so ive got a breast pump just in case but i was wondering if breast milk can go in the firdge and get warmed up when its needed and if it can go in the fridge how long can it stay in there for.
Avatar f tn So I go back to work this week. I've been storing milk and seeing if my little man will take that. I'm having issues with him even taking the bottle. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Avatar n tn Glass bottles are great &; they do have some of them wrapped in like a 'decorative' rubber for when babyy is holding them his/her self to prevent dropping &; breaking but Medela, Tomme Tippie, Dr. Browns &; I can't think of the other one but they're also great for breast feeding &; storing milk. I'm also breast feeding nd going with Tomme Tippie because I loove how realistic the nipples are!
Avatar f tn guuuurl, my lil piggy wiggy(hehehe), is such a pig! i'm storing breast milk, and i'm bf'ing as much as i can, but i have been having to supplement my BM with formula! the only downside about formula, is sure they get full, but how do you know how much they had? so i guess realistically, i have NO idea how much alex eats! but sometimes he eats 4oz of formula, and will nurse for another 10-15 minutes(but only on 1 side)!
639543 tn?1297027634 I started feeding Dameon straight from my breast, then DH decided he wanted to be able to feed him too, so I pumped, and he was able to feed him. It turns out the baby has gotten used to ONLY taking a bottle, because it's easier, not to mention my boobs are so full of milk all the time, it flattens my nipples and he has no nipple to latch onto.
2006603 tn?1331329327 I dont know if this is the exact forum that i should be using but it sounded like the right one so if its not then im sorry. Anyway I am 26 Weeks pregnant with my first child and i am wanting to breast feed but i am afraid in a way. I am afraid that breast feeding is going to be really awkward for me. When i think about my baby breast feeding it just feels awkward to me and i dont know if i am going to be able to handle that feeling.
Avatar f tn Just had son a few days ago, now my milk is coming in and my breast are hurting so bad right now. They are hard in some places. Is there anything I do to release the pressure.
Avatar f tn Breast milk lasts up to 12 months in a deep freezer but is at its best if used by 6 months...Google it..so start storing away :)...
