Storing breast milk in glass jars

Common Questions and Answers about Storing breast milk in glass jars

milk

Avatar f tn d be worried about them busting which is my concern with the plastic ones designed for breast milk. And I hate the idea of throwing all those bags away. Glass is sturdier, reuseable, and less money in the long run.
Avatar n tn Glass bottles are great &; they do have some of them wrapped in like a 'decorative' rubber for when babyy is holding them his/her self to prevent dropping &; breaking but Medela, Tomme Tippie, Dr. Browns &; I can't think of the other one but they're also great for breast feeding &; storing milk. I'm also breast feeding nd going with Tomme Tippie because I loove how realistic the nipples are!

Avatar f tn Look at the La Leche League website, it's very helpful. With a deep freezer you can freeze for 3 to 6 months. It's best to freeze in milk bags or glass jars with fitted tops. In a regular freezer with separate doors from your fridge you can freezer for up to 3 months. And if your freezer door is the same door as the fridge it's only good to store for up to 2 wks.
7381903 tn?1391464888 I worked in the NICU and was responsible for mixing breast milk with additives for babies that needed it. You can keep fresh breast milk in your fridge for up to 4 days. If it is not used in that amount of time you freeze it. Use the fresh before you use frozen! It is a good idea to use stickers to know which milk to use first.
229857 tn?1319029907 you can store it in the fridge for 2-3 days just make sure you date the milk also it can go in the freezer i think for upto 6 months and it is good to use the breast milk storage bags so you can date them also and then you can take them straight from the freezer and put the bag in the baby bottle warmer. when you buy the breast pump there should be a little book about breast feeding and everything that comes with it.
Avatar f tn I have been pumping and storing breast milk for my princess and it seams like the amount is slowing down what can I do to get it back up I do not want to give her formula at all!
2026902 tn?1369098398 its also the safest way to give solids because of the gag reflex babies have until their stomachs are mature enough to really digest anything besides breast milk or formula. In the beginning its more of an exploration then really feeding.
Avatar f tn Milk only last 2 months in the freezer so it won't be any good by the time your little one gets here, I asked my on about it because i'm a ftm and 24 weeks but I've been leaking colostrum since about 20 weeks but it comes more actively than a few drops every couple of days it's gotten to the point where I have to express it atleast 2×s a day or my boobs hurt so bad is rediculous, but I found that massaging them with Vaseline or other oils makes my nips a lot less tender and painf
Avatar f tn Im 17 weeks pregnant..and I am having the most horrible feelings in my breast! They feel as if the nipple is being set on fire..am I the only one having this feeling..it's very painful and aggravating..but worth it for my lil one on the way!
Avatar f tn So I have had heavy and itchy breast for a few weeks now. I checked to see if I had milk and drops came out!!! Im only 21 weeks! !! Is this normal? ??
Avatar f tn So I go back to work this week. I've been storing milk and seeing if my little man will take that. I'm having issues with him even taking the bottle. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Avatar f tn Once I register my baby I will be breastfeeding will the provide electric breast pump right away? When do I have to give it back? If I ever for some reason stop breastfeeding will they start giving me similac??
639543 tn?1297027634 In my BF class they said that you can store milk in the back of the freezer for up to a year. So Stock up as much as you can, he'll start going through a growth spurt soon in which he will be asking for more and more so it will be a good thing if you have a good supply stored.
Avatar n tn Recommend putting her into a routine of eating 3 meals a day and then the feed her the breast milk between meals and at meals in a sippy cup so she eats more at meals. Feed her baby food meats and yogurt at meals, too.
Avatar f tn guuuurl, my lil piggy wiggy(hehehe), is such a pig! i'm storing breast milk, and i'm bf'ing as much as i can, but i have been having to supplement my BM with formula! the only downside about formula, is sure they get full, but how do you know how much they had? so i guess realistically, i have NO idea how much alex eats! but sometimes he eats 4oz of formula, and will nurse for another 10-15 minutes(but only on 1 side)!
Avatar f tn Just had son a few days ago, now my milk is coming in and my breast are hurting so bad right now. They are hard in some places. Is there anything I do to release the pressure.
Avatar f tn I had to pump because my son was in the hospital, and I just put the milk in the milk in the glass bottle. He loved it, plus it keeps air out.
470885 tn?1326329037 my first couldn't nurse so I pumped. I pumped for 6 1/2 months, and then fed milk from the freezer for 2 more months. That milk that she was getting at 7 and 8 months was produced when she was a newborn-6 months. It was perfectly fine. While the composition of milk does change, it is still great for baby- even milk from a different time and frozen still has more beneficial properties than formula. This little one will be getting frozen milk when I quit pumping.
Avatar f tn Since you dont want to stick breast milk in microwave you have to boil the water and thaw out the milk that way and having the glass bottle is so wonderful as it wont melt. If you are breastfeeding i would suggest glass bottles, if you are just using formula than its not gonna matter.
Avatar n tn m worried about breastfeeding feeding. When should my milk come in? I do not want to put my baby on formula, what if my milk does not come in before delivery? How does this work?
Avatar f tn t keep it in the door) and up to 6 months in the freezer. Always try and defrost breast milk by putting it into the fridge to defrost, not just leaving it on the side. Also the recommend that you wait about 4 weeks ish until breastfeeding has become established before you pump or introduce baby to a bottle, to avoid confusion and you get your milk supply to be good before. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I'm trying to choose the best breast pump and milk storage system I can find. I travel extensively for work and I'll even be pumping in the car. I found the Kiinde system; which looks awesome. But, I'm not sure what I will be able to express from each breast at each pumping session. Ideally, I would like to pump directly into the storage bag, freeze it, thaw it, and feed directly from the bag. That is how the Kiinde system is intended to be used.
Avatar f tn The colostrum is really what's best for the baby right after they are born and will come before your milk does.
1936550 tn?1348360208 he went right from breast milk and weaned to cows milk.... dont listen to your mom when she tries to discourage you you milk is what your baby needs and as long as tou feed when shes ready to eat you should have more than enough milk and once your milk really starts to come on after a couple weeks you can start to pump and freeze it the more you feed the more your breast will make....
