milk

7381903 tn?1391464888 I worked in the NICU and was responsible for mixing breast milk with additives for babies that needed it. You can keep fresh breast milk in your fridge for up to 4 days. If it is not used in that amount of time you freeze it. Use the fresh before you use frozen! It is a good idea to use stickers to know which milk to use first.
229857 tn?1319029907 you can store it in the fridge for 2-3 days just make sure you date the milk also it can go in the freezer i think for upto 6 months and it is good to use the breast milk storage bags so you can date them also and then you can take them straight from the freezer and put the bag in the baby bottle warmer. when you buy the breast pump there should be a little book about breast feeding and everything that comes with it.
Avatar f tn I have been pumping and storing breast milk for my princess and it seams like the amount is slowing down what can I do to get it back up I do not want to give her formula at all!
Avatar f tn It's not milk supply. Your body doesn't store milk. It makes it on demand when baby is born. It is the glands waking up to prepare themselves to produce (not actually producing yet). If fabric on your nipples is an issue I recommend wearing Medela breast shells in your bra and also, the lansinoh soothies gel pads. They are amazing!
Avatar f tn So I have had heavy and itchy breast for a few weeks now. I checked to see if I had milk and drops came out!!! Im only 21 weeks! !! Is this normal? ??
Avatar f tn So I go back to work this week. I've been storing milk and seeing if my little man will take that. I'm having issues with him even taking the bottle. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Avatar n tn Glass bottles are great &; they do have some of them wrapped in like a 'decorative' rubber for when babyy is holding them his/her self to prevent dropping &; breaking but Medela, Tomme Tippie, Dr. Browns &; I can't think of the other one but they're also great for breast feeding &; storing milk. I'm also breast feeding nd going with Tomme Tippie because I loove how realistic the nipples are!
Avatar f tn Just had son a few days ago, now my milk is coming in and my breast are hurting so bad right now. They are hard in some places. Is there anything I do to release the pressure.
Avatar f tn Thank you!!!
Avatar f tn Milk only last 2 months in the freezer so it won't be any good by the time your little one gets here, I asked my on about it because i'm a ftm and 24 weeks but I've been leaking colostrum since about 20 weeks but it comes more actively than a few drops every couple of days it's gotten to the point where I have to express it atleast 2×s a day or my boobs hurt so bad is rediculous, but I found that massaging them with Vaseline or other oils makes my nips a lot less tender and painf
Avatar f tn guuuurl, my lil piggy wiggy(hehehe), is such a pig! i'm storing breast milk, and i'm bf'ing as much as i can, but i have been having to supplement my BM with formula! the only downside about formula, is sure they get full, but how do you know how much they had? so i guess realistically, i have NO idea how much alex eats! but sometimes he eats 4oz of formula, and will nurse for another 10-15 minutes(but only on 1 side)!
Avatar n tn Just make sure you feed on demand and absolutely no artificial nipples (including binky) until your milk comes in. Then no bottles until baby is a good nurser. (They say four to six weeks minimum before you offer the bottle to avoid nipple confusion) My milk didn't leak at all when I was pregnant with my daughter and we went on to breastfeed for over a year.
470885 tn?1326329037 s below weight, yet has always eater much more than a baby his age should. Just because I pumped, my milk was just as good as if he was feeding from me, so you should be more than fine pumping a little here and there.
Avatar f tn I am getting worried that I am going to run out of milk. Any tips on keeping the milk coming in good? I heard if you eat oatmeal that helps? But how much and how often? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn It's not milk now. It's colostrum. Pumping Will not yield anything worth storing. Which unless you deep freeze Will only store safely in a refrigerator/freezer for three months. Next nipple stimulation can bring on preterm labor...all in all, it's not a good idea ! Wait until birth to pump and freeze milk.
7552771 tn?1469929649 t get anything but the pumping unit and attachments and will most liking end up needing to purchase an ice cooler bag for storing the milk while away from home and the ac adapter if you need it for travel ect. The Ameda comes with all of those things so its a huge money saver.
Avatar f tn The colostrum is really what's best for the baby right after they are born and will come before your milk does.
Avatar f tn Nikki1214 is right on! Breast is best! If you can do it. The mom/babe connection is amazing and not just emotionally but physically too. If baby is getting a cold (let's say) and breastfeeds. Tiny particles of the cold are in their saliva and gets into the mother causing her body to make antibodies for herself and in the breastmilk therefore giving it to the baby. Both are covered...amazing.
7381903 tn?1391464888 In the fridge I think it's only good 3 days frozen it's good for months I remember looking it up on Google when I was pumping for my first!
Avatar f tn Sometimes the baby needs to be on the breast for hours a day the first month to stimulate milk production. Breastfeeding on demand during growth spurts will help keep supply up too.
Avatar f tn Wow I didn't even know this was possible. Good to know as I've been really worried that I might not have any milk. I know it's not genetic but it still worries me. I heard that a certain type of liquid/milk comes out for the first feed. Does this still happen?
Avatar n tn Then switch back and forth between breasts for feedings. Pumping will not empty the breast like the baby will. breast milk can be frozed for up to 6 months I beleive so just make sure you learn the storing/freezing process correctly. Drink lots of fluids to keep the supply up as you are stock piling. and by the way...(hugs you) thanks for breastfeeding! Little children suck up radation like sponges. So follow doctors orders completely.
Avatar f tn My main goal is breast pumping. My doctor said that I could pump and freeze my bottles. After how many hrs are they considered to old and can't be used???
Avatar f tn I'm doing research about storage for breast milk. I want something that's cost effective and will work. I'm not looking to create a huge stash of frozen milk because I don't have the space in my freezer nor do I have a deep freeze (yay apartment living). I have looked into the disposable bags. What a money sink. Plus the reviews I read do not put much faith into me using them. I came across a mom's blog about using mason jars.
