Storing breast milk glass bottles

Common Questions and Answers about Storing breast milk glass bottles

milk

Avatar n tn Glass bottles are great &; they do have some of them wrapped in like a 'decorative' rubber for when babyy is holding them his/her self to prevent dropping &; breaking but Medela, Tomme Tippie, Dr. Browns &; I can't think of the other one but they're also great for breast feeding &; storing milk. I'm also breast feeding nd going with Tomme Tippie because I loove how realistic the nipples are!
229857 tn?1319029907 you can store it in the fridge for 2-3 days just make sure you date the milk also it can go in the freezer i think for upto 6 months and it is good to use the breast milk storage bags so you can date them also and then you can take them straight from the freezer and put the bag in the baby bottle warmer. when you buy the breast pump there should be a little book about breast feeding and everything that comes with it.
7381903 tn?1391464888 I worked in the NICU and was responsible for mixing breast milk with additives for babies that needed it. You can keep fresh breast milk in your fridge for up to 4 days. If it is not used in that amount of time you freeze it. Use the fresh before you use frozen! It is a good idea to use stickers to know which milk to use first.
Avatar f tn So I go back to work this week. I've been storing milk and seeing if my little man will take that. I'm having issues with him even taking the bottle. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Avatar f tn I still get plastic because they are cheap but the main ones I use is glass. And glass is better for breastmilk. Plus you run hot water on glass bottles and it warms milk up just right in like 2 minutes.
Avatar f tn Since you dont want to stick breast milk in microwave you have to boil the water and thaw out the milk that way and having the glass bottle is so wonderful as it wont melt. If you are breastfeeding i would suggest glass bottles, if you are just using formula than its not gonna matter.
435139 tn?1255460391 I used it mostly to take the chill off of my expressed breast milk that had been in the freezer and thawed in the fridge. When we switched to formula, I made each bottle fresh at room temp and it was good enough. My best friend's daughter wanted her bottles warm though so she wound up having to buy a travel warmer for her car.
4835896 tn?1369369421 I decided to put doctor Brown on my registry. I plan on alternating breast milk & formula . I have a friend who had twins & she tried Tommee tippee. She said that it was hard for both her babies to drink because the nipples were so big. Also Tommee tippee doesn't come in glass bottles , which are better for freezing milk... Even though Dr Brown's has all the extra parts I think its the best bet.
Avatar n tn Just make sure you feed on demand and absolutely no artificial nipples (including binky) until your milk comes in. Then no bottles until baby is a good nurser. (They say four to six weeks minimum before you offer the bottle to avoid nipple confusion) My milk didn't leak at all when I was pregnant with my daughter and we went on to breastfeed for over a year.
Avatar f tn We have ordered for when I go back to work dc browns glass bottles for my breath milk .
Avatar f tn Personally I liked the playtex drop in bottles. I used the air vent ( I found they leak) and glass bottles (heavy to lug around) and Dr Brown's are a pain in the rear to clean. It's trial and error for you. I breast fed and the drop in bottles worked best for my milk storage containers. You can always try 1 or 2 of each and see what you like best.
1936550 tn?1348360208 he went right from breast milk and weaned to cows milk.... dont listen to your mom when she tries to discourage you you milk is what your baby needs and as long as tou feed when shes ready to eat you should have more than enough milk and once your milk really starts to come on after a couple weeks you can start to pump and freeze it the more you feed the more your breast will make....
470885 tn?1326329037 I pumped for 6 1/2 months, and then fed milk from the freezer for 2 more months. That milk that she was getting at 7 and 8 months was produced when she was a newborn-6 months. It was perfectly fine. While the composition of milk does change, it is still great for baby- even milk from a different time and frozen still has more beneficial properties than formula. This little one will be getting frozen milk when I quit pumping.
525485 tn?1314361301 m using easy flow glass bottles and pigeon bottles (some glass, and some plastic reusable and meant for freezing breastmilk). Changed all my teats to the small slow flow pigeon ones. If she gets the milk too fast she gets really frustrated when I put her back on my breast.. as it is we have 'arguments' in the evening when she just cries and cries and refuses to take my breast (and I refuse to give her the bottle).
Avatar f tn My main goal is breast pumping. My doctor said that I could pump and freeze my bottles. After how many hrs are they considered to old and can't be used???
296027 tn?1287759043 I also had this question, and I ended up chosing the Dr. Brown's ones, I plan to use my breast milk in the bottles, and I've heard the Dr. Brown's are easy to go back and forth from a nipple with.
Avatar f tn I'm also planning on exclusively breastfeeding until I have to go back to work in September. I will introduce a bottle once a day or so once he's about a month old though, so that he can get used to it. I'm not there yet, so I dont' know if I'll need more, but I'm planning on getting about 6 bottles.
Avatar f tn I have been pumping and storing breast milk for my princess and it seams like the amount is slowing down what can I do to get it back up I do not want to give her formula at all!
Avatar f tn I also use glass bottles if I have to use a bottle. I just do not personally like heating up plastic. And they do not hold the old milk smell. And with binkys I only use the green hospital ones because other pacy nips can get water inside them and the milk. And it can be a bacteria holder. The worst for this is mam brand.
Avatar f tn d be worried about them busting which is my concern with the plastic ones designed for breast milk. And I hate the idea of throwing all those bags away. Glass is sturdier, reuseable, and less money in the long run.
Avatar f tn i used the playtex ventair i think they were...the ones with the bent neck. they were easy to hold you could hear that he was sucking well and when it was empty. however, it all depends on if you want to pump or not if you are breast feeding. personally i would wait and see how it goes. with my first my mom bought me glass bottles (i didn't like them, a lot of them broke!) so i had those on hand but it wasn't until after his birth that we went to the playtex bottles.
Avatar f tn t be with your baby to nurse, but still want to be able to breastfeed, there are bottles that work similar to the breast so the baby doesn't get nipple confusing and can will still nurse. One bottle is the BreastFlow bottle. It basically has 2 nipples so that the baby has to work to get the milk out, just like breastfeeding. It doesn't just easily flow like a regular bottle, that causes the baby to be lazy and not take the breast.
404232 tn?1253965956 I will probably breast feed too, but when I pump I may go ahead and use glass bottles - I would rather be safe than sorry - ya know?
8234801 tn?1397381200 I used glass bottles with my 1st bc they reduce gas. They are the best bottles buuut I think I'm gonna do the playtex with my daughter.
Avatar f tn Ok so another question...I will be at school from 8am-9pm on Tuesdays. There's no fridge I can use to put the pumped bottles in. What can I do? Il need those bottles pumped on Tuesdays to be good until Thursdays classes. Could I put bottles in a cooler to freeze them?
1996005 tn?1343871411 Just make sure you get the inserts and such. I breast fed her as well but just used a medela hand pump for storing the milk. You will want breastmilk storage bags as well. It's not bad to ask for any of that on a registry but the chances of getting it are slim.
