milk

7381903 tn?1391464888 I worked in the NICU and was responsible for mixing breast milk with additives for babies that needed it. You can keep fresh breast milk in your fridge for up to 4 days. If it is not used in that amount of time you freeze it. Use the fresh before you use frozen! It is a good idea to use stickers to know which milk to use first.
229857 tn?1319029907 you can store it in the fridge for 2-3 days just make sure you date the milk also it can go in the freezer i think for upto 6 months and it is good to use the breast milk storage bags so you can date them also and then you can take them straight from the freezer and put the bag in the baby bottle warmer. when you buy the breast pump there should be a little book about breast feeding and everything that comes with it.
Avatar f tn I have been pumping and storing breast milk for my princess and it seams like the amount is slowing down what can I do to get it back up I do not want to give her formula at all!
Avatar f tn So I go back to work this week. I've been storing milk and seeing if my little man will take that. I'm having issues with him even taking the bottle. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Avatar f tn It's not milk supply. Your body doesn't store milk. It makes it on demand when baby is born. It is the glands waking up to prepare themselves to produce (not actually producing yet). If fabric on your nipples is an issue I recommend wearing Medela breast shells in your bra and also, the lansinoh soothies gel pads. They are amazing!
Avatar f tn So I have had heavy and itchy breast for a few weeks now. I checked to see if I had milk and drops came out!!! Im only 21 weeks! !! Is this normal? ??
Avatar f tn s common to have an over supply but your body will regulate over time). You can get milk storage bags at major retailers and freeze the milk for later on, after you've introduced a bottle (most IBCLCs say the best time for this is between 4-6 weeks to avoid disrupting the routine you're both trying to learn). Mostly, just know that this sore and uncomfortable feeling is totally normal and almost always self-limiting.
Avatar f tn Is the tea good? I'm not really a tea drinker a lot of tea does not go with my taste buds lol! But I'm willing to try anything to keep it coming in strong so I no I can store enough for when I'm in school and at work lol (I'm in nursing school and clinicals are 8 hours just like work) That's what I need to do more of is drink water!
Avatar n tn Glass bottles are great &; they do have some of them wrapped in like a 'decorative' rubber for when babyy is holding them his/her self to prevent dropping &; breaking but Medela, Tomme Tippie, Dr. Browns &; I can't think of the other one but they're also great for breast feeding &; storing milk. I'm also breast feeding nd going with Tomme Tippie because I loove how realistic the nipples are!
898043 tn?1262496985 I plan on breast feeding in the begining, then I will be going to work so I will breast feed at night and have her bottle fed during the day (storing the breast milk). Some women just dont produce enough breast milk. Im hoping I do not fall in that category, but if I need to, I will formula feel. A lot of women are so opposed to it when it comes to other womens choice, but I feel if my baby is well taken care of she will have a wonderful start. But my first plan is to BF.
Avatar f tn guuuurl, my lil piggy wiggy(hehehe), is such a pig! i'm storing breast milk, and i'm bf'ing as much as i can, but i have been having to supplement my BM with formula! the only downside about formula, is sure they get full, but how do you know how much they had? so i guess realistically, i have NO idea how much alex eats! but sometimes he eats 4oz of formula, and will nurse for another 10-15 minutes(but only on 1 side)!
639543 tn?1297027634 I started feeding Dameon straight from my breast, then DH decided he wanted to be able to feed him too, so I pumped, and he was able to feed him. It turns out the baby has gotten used to ONLY taking a bottle, because it's easier, not to mention my boobs are so full of milk all the time, it flattens my nipples and he has no nipple to latch onto.
470885 tn?1326329037 I'm a working mom, so I need to pump, DH stays at home with our son (and future child). I agree it's nice to have some milk on hand if you need it. From what I read it's not THAT big of a deal, it's most important in the early weeks as that milk is more fatty. If you pump to store for when you need it that won't cause any issues with breastfeeding.
Avatar f tn Breast milk lasts up to 12 months in a deep freezer but is at its best if used by 6 months...Google it..so start storing away :)...
Avatar f tn Sometimes the baby needs to be on the breast for hours a day the first month to stimulate milk production. Breastfeeding on demand during growth spurts will help keep supply up too.
7552771 tn?1469929649 t get anything but the pumping unit and attachments and will most liking end up needing to purchase an ice cooler bag for storing the milk while away from home and the ac adapter if you need it for travel ect. The Ameda comes with all of those things so its a huge money saver.
Avatar f tn I breastfed but wasn't able to pump, my daughter feed to often and I never had enough to then pump after, but I was always told by my docs that breast milk can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days (at the back of the fridge, don't keep it in the door) and up to 6 months in the freezer. Always try and defrost breast milk by putting it into the fridge to defrost, not just leaving it on the side.
Avatar f tn Um pumping during pregnancy can cause your milk to run dry after you give birth and make you incapable of producing milk at all for future pregnancies. Might want to research a little, ladies. It happened to my bfs sister bc she wanted to get ahead on storing milk.
Avatar f tn Nikki1214 is right on! Breast is best! If you can do it. The mom/babe connection is amazing and not just emotionally but physically too. If baby is getting a cold (let's say) and breastfeeds. Tiny particles of the cold are in their saliva and gets into the mother causing her body to make antibodies for herself and in the breastmilk therefore giving it to the baby. Both are covered...amazing.
Avatar f tn m pretty sure that it will remain colostrum ( which the baby should get at birth) until you start pumping/breastfeeding then your milk will come in. You don't want to trigger your milk coming in before the baby gets the colostrum.
Avatar f tn My sons doctor said it was fine to introduce whole milk at 9 months mixed with either breast milk or formula. With this baby I want to breastfeed for as long as I possibly can.
Avatar f tn You could do mason jars get the small ones and de-thaw by putting in the fridge, warm up by putting in warm water of a slow cooker (much gentler way of heating up). I don't know if that would work for breast milk but my sister-in-law used it to heat up formula.
Avatar f tn The colostrum is really what's best for the baby right after they are born and will come before your milk does.
349463 tn?1333571576 I stockpile milk when I am home on maternity leave and have quite a bit by the time I go back to work. I pump at work, but once I am no longer able to meet the baby's needs, I supplement w/ formula. But I think it is def a very personal decision, so I would never try to sway anyone one way or the other. Researching is good. It will help you make an informed decision and one that is right for you. Once you have done that, you may just want to think about the pros and cons.
Avatar f tn If you pump go for electric. When storing milk they sale bags for breast milk at Walmart I'm the bottle section when freezing only freeze 2 to 3ozs at a time. Because breastfed babies only eat 2 to 3ozs after a few weeks and further on in life. You can save the milk in the fridge in those same bags for 5-8 days and never shake the bag just stir the separated milk back together.
