smoking

Avatar f tn COPD is an umbrella term for progressive lung diseases, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Smoking increases your risk for serious health problems, many diseases, many cancers, and death! Start your stop smoking plan with START: S = Set a quit date. T = Tell family, friends, and co-workers that you plan to quit. A = Anticipate and plan for the challenges you will face while quitting. R = Remove cigarettes and other tobacco products from your home, car, and work.
Avatar f tn My doctor was aware of my prescription and nobody told me to stop the pain medication but I knew in my heart that it was the best thing for the baby and the right thing to do. I live in WA and pot is legal here so I asked my doctor about switching from narcotics to marijuana to help with w/d to get off the meds and he said absolutely not.
Avatar f tn I have not with meds. But with smoking cigs. With drawls suck no matter what your coming off of. My dad was on speed years ago and I remember his with drawl.. was scarey. They way he did it was gum, getting help thru his Dr and from na meetings. the way I did it with smoking ( was a pack a day for many years ) was gum and a lot of prayer. Try some meditation. Bit do talk to your doctor about it. He can help you. And look into na meetings. Take it one day at a time. You can do it.
Avatar f tn Ok...time to stop smoking pot. Not only will it drag you down, it is illegal, it can add to your anxiety big time. You probably don't want to mix the two and you can use this opportunity to get back on track and quit the illegal drugs. As far as Lexapro goes, in my opinion with any SSRI, it does take some time to adjust to it. You said that you are starting to feel better; that is a good thing:). For me, it took a good month for a medication like Lexapro to kick in. Keep us posted!
595141 tn?1239971814 Hi I quit smoking 6 weeks ago. I had smoked for 9 years (yes i was a young starter) When I tried to quit before I found it really difficult coz it felt like I was missing out on something (if that makes sense?) then a friend told me about this book called Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking: Be a Happy Non-smoker for the Rest of Your Life. I read it and that really helped me. Its hard to explian but if you read it with an open mind it will work.
Avatar f tn There's a prescription medication used for smoking cessation called Chantix. It's helped many people stop smoking. It has some benefits to some opiate addicts for craving control as well. That's the only way I'd try to stop smoking so soon after stoping the opiates.
Avatar f tn Is the methamphetamine for recreational use? Because then honestly, the length of time to "abstain" would be forever. I use a medication (prescription) for narcolepsy and they are letting me take it right up to the morning of my upcoming surgery. Surgery involves more than just the anesthesia. There is the pain management afterward and there are issues involved if someone is addicted to something like methamphetamine. It's like smoking.
Avatar f tn Need to quit smoking I have been smoking since I was 18 years old and I am now 41
1276755 tn?1271017891 My grandmother stop smoking two days ago. Avatar n tn i have been taking hydrocodone for about 3 years for chronic back pain due to an auto accident in 1995. first it was 550mg and then 750mg then went back down to 550mg, i want to stop taking them and want to know if there is an over the counter medicine or herbal item i can take to help alleviate the pain?
Avatar m tn The low readings you recorded could be due to the medication you are taking. Lifestyle measures help to control the severity of hypertension. Smoking can aggravate the pressure. Stop smoking and don't add additional salt in your diet. Exercise regularly and practice relaxation techniques to lower your stress levels. This will help to reduce the blood pressure and follow up with your doctor. Regards.
Avatar f tn At any rate, it will be years before I can have the surgery according to my doctor and this no longer seems like a long term solution to me. Even though I have never built up tolerance to the medication I have heard from some people that taking large doses of ibuprofen works just as well and is not addictive. My question is will I go through withdrawal. I have never abused my medication except for not taking it the way the doctor prescribed it.
Avatar f tn If you do not stop smoking on wellbutrin should you continue to take it. I was given this for anxiety and to help me stop smoking. But i still smoke, will this cause problems.
Avatar n tn Either way to most of the sedatives (sleeping tablets), people develop tolerance, that is they stop working very effectively with time. So, try to develop good sleep hygiene and then slowly wean of the sedative. Sleep and get up at the same time every day, avoid smoking, alcoholic and caffeinated beverages and exercise regularly. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Im an adult ADD who has successfully treated with Dexadrine XR spanules for 5 years or so, until this past summer when my employer changed insurance plans to some new insurance plan that does not at all cover Dexadrine Spanules. So unless I want to pay $350+ per prescription for a month, its a non-option. So, my Dr. prescribed me adderal 10mg XR instead, since its covered at an intermediate level by my insurance plan, only a $30 a month co-pay. (Old plan used to be $10 a month).
Avatar n tn If you are a cigarette smoker, you will probably have to quit smoking for a month or more to allow your lung tissue, specifically your inflamed bronchial tubes, to heal. The second possibility is that, even though you may not have ever had the diagnosis of asthma, the viral infection (cold) you had may have been severe and irritating enough to result in asthma. This is not a rare scenario and, when it happens, cough rather than wheezing may be the main symptom.

Avatar n tn stop smoking. that exact same thing was happening to me, and when you stop smoking, it immeadiately goes away.
Avatar n tn Always research any new medication before trying it. My husband was prescribed chantix to quit smoking. After he started taking it he began having panic attacks. He had never had one before the medication but began having them during. Unfortunately that is now something he has to live with for the of his life.
Avatar m tn back again down to last 2 for tonight around 1130pm then thats it try to stop i have to do this so much and really apply myself to it even if the withdrawls are bad ill take some sick time from work saying i have a virus or something..if this goes to plan then ill be soon kicking the smoking 40a day habbit too, cant afford the £300+ a month on it,what with the pair of these addictions im paying to kill myself slowly!!...
Avatar n tn Yes. It is harmful to mix prescription medications as it is, no matter what the doctors might tell you. Your body's trying to deal with enough chemicals being pumped into you everyday. Smoking, no matter how "natural" it is, will only further stress your body.
