1086884 tn?1328640455 I don't know who told you that stop smoking would make no difference now. THEY ARE TOTALLY WRONG. I smoked for over 60 years and have not smoked now for 3 years and I can feel the difference believe me. Unfortunately I waited to long before I realized the damage I was doing to my lungs. I now suffer from COPD and with the medication I have been on (Advair, Symbicort) I still have trouble breathing but I do exercise.
Avatar f tn You are a very smart young man to stop smoking. PLEASE do not think a few here & a few there will not hurt you...because it is so highly addictive, you may be smoking every day before you even know it!! Next week my very best friend is having surgery in her lung for lung cancer..she is only 50....and smoked since your age..By the way, this is her 3rd kind of cancer!! Tongue Cancer, Bladder cancer, and now Lung!! Believe me, you do not want a life like hers. Keep up the good work!!

7773990 tn?1400728625 I want to say there is more nicotine in an e cgis but not certain. Just try to wien yourself off. When my mother in law attemoed to stop smoking I always saw her with an unlit cigarette in her mouth that she would puff on. It seemed to work for her. I'm sure it's still not good for you but better than actually inhaling the smoke. Hope this help, good luck. You can do it!!

Avatar m tn Change your lifestyle. Stop smoking, start to exercise, run minimum 60min 5 days a week, and go the gym if possible. This should give you energy and very possibly regain your erection quality. Do it for 2 months and post back on the progress. :) good luck!
4510195 tn?1355933784 Exercise is recommended during treatment,in any way possible to stay active throughout treatment.Studies have shown taking 3 or more cups of coffee improves cure rates, taking vitamin D3 and B12 also improves cure rates. As far as smoking goes different studies have shown smoking is not good while on treatment it lowers rates of cure for genotypes 2 and 3 but not genotypes 1,not sure for genotype 4.Any how you might want check this old thread where this is discussed. http://www.medhelp.

Avatar f tn I started getting ready to stop smoking about 5yrs ago. I decided not to smoke in my car anymore. I suffer from anxiety, so I'm never away from the house for more than 2hrs max and I figured I could at LEAST go without a cigarette that long. At the time, I felt like this alone was an enormous accomplishment and it helped me to start thinking like a non-smoker, I had been a smoker for 33yrs before I quit last July.
Avatar f tn SEE A CARDIOLOGIST ASAP YOU CAN DEVELOP OTHER ISSUES ESPECIALLY WITH THE FAMILY HISTORY BUT THE STOP SMOKING IDEA WAS GREAT I STOPPED 35 YEARS AGO IT WAS THE BEST MEDICAL THING I EVER DID.....
Avatar f tn com/health/former-chain-smoker-and-today-renowned-european-stop-smoking-guru-eric-eraly-launches-an-online-stop-smoking-program/ Just to tell you my progress (not very successful though)....'am just trying on the slow cessation method at present. Get desperate and depressed at times. A good friend here also suggested that maintaining a good exercise schedule might prove motivating and help me ease out too.
Avatar m tn Clopidogrel is a short term medication, there is no evidence supporting benefits after a period of one year. Your big problem is the cigarettes, even one a day is no good for your arteries. I know it's hard, but you need to stop smoking and this is your wake up call. You will probably see a good improvement in blood pressure and oxygen levels when you stop, as well as feeling like you have more energy. If you have a lot of stress in your life, find ways to either manage it or rid it.
Avatar m tn It is highly unlikely that you would have developed COPD at your age but there is a form of emphysema that is inherited and can lead to COPD/emphysema at an early age. You should stop smoking immediately, have a blood test performed for this condition of precocious emphysema and have pulmonary function testing performed by your doctor, when your symptoms clear. What you have experienced is a quite serious matter and an opportunity for you to avoid having chronic lung disease at an early age.
Avatar n tn It would also be wise to do everything within your power to stop smoking. You may be right that smoking or not, may have effected the test results. It is paradoxical, since smoking is the most common cause of excessive mucous production in the lungs, but smokers often experience an “opening-up” of the lungs while smoking.
Avatar m tn Tony, you have got to stop smoking, most definitely, when my husband found out he had emphysema, he thought, well, heck, I have already got the disease, why stop now? If he had stopped earlier, the diseasde may not have spreas as quickly as it did! The first time he was put on the respirator, I told him that yes, we BOTH had to quit smoking, which we did, thank God. But, the damage had been done, and now he is in the hospital , intubated for the fifth time.
Avatar f tn i am thinking og giving my brother (who smokes) vitamin C for his immune system. he has a very busy and toxic lifestyle having to go to school in the morning around 8am and going to the hospital (for his internship) until 11pm. what vitamins should he take?

Avatar m tn I'm 23 years old, so naturally I shouldn't be worrying about my heart. But lately I've noticed that my heart doesn't beat as forcefully as it used to. Months ago, before I noticed this, I could be doing absolutely nothing and without putting my hands to my wrist or my neck to check my pulse, I could feel my heart pounding throughout my body. Not only was it normal for me, it was soothing and it always calmed me down when I was stressed out.
