This past Sunday night I started suffering from symptoms of a Stomach Virus. I couldn't eat anything, keep anything down, and everything was coming up/out. So Sunday-Wednesday (when I went to the ER), I didn't eat anything. And I was only drinking some water, and a little bit of gatorade that would come right back up. I went to the ER on Wednesday morning, they gave me an IV and some meds for nausea and vomitting.
Hello Konakatrina, Well it (the stomach virus) was 24 hours of sheer heel and another 24 hours of feeling pretty out of it (though the vomiting stopped), and after that I began to get my appetite back, and so I ate what I was craving (happened to be chicken at the time...I remember it well). It's also a good idea to eat yogurt after a stomach flu as the cultures in yogurt will replenish what you lost while you were sick, and it's gentle on the stomach.
The pain meds took it away and now I use the immodium, and phenegan. My doctor prescribe them because he thought I had the stomach virus. I didn't dare tell him I was going C/T. I live in a small town and it seems like everyone knows everyone else's business. Try some donnatal over the counter and see if it helps. Good luck, and you are doing great.
Just small things several times a day to keep something in your stomach seems to help. Also, try yogurt. Keeps the "yeasties" away, and you may be developing some type of candida in your tummy that is causing problems. Try drinking green tea. It is so full of anti-oxidants. I was a hard core coffee drinker, but switched to green tea for it's health qualities and I swear, I think my liver loves me for it! Take care. Oh yeah - last word - my new best friend - VANILLA ICE CREAM!
I did receive treatment for the possible bacterial infections STD given z pack, doxy, ofoflax, uribel and something for trich. My neuro said it's probably a unknown virus. I have been on a few rounds of antivirals for herpes just to see if there is a reaction, the antivirals seem to help the symptoms but herpes test was neg. I am thinking this maybe undetected herpes infection accompany with a fungal overgrowth due to excess antibiotics.

In Canada medication is not covered and they do not put people on it immediately unless they are having severe ill effects according to my GP. I have had no symptoms except for recent stomach problems which he says are probably not related?? My stomach problems seem to have occurred at the same time my husband and I started having big financial difficulties a couple of years ago. I am worried because my symptoms seem so varied and ongoing. I have had an upper GI and am taking Pantaloc.
however the pain in my stomach as decreased and I am feeling better. Could this have been simply a stomach virus or food posioning?
Hi my name is Candice and I have been having problems with stomach pains and vommiting since I was about 15 years olds. I had my first hospital visit when I was 15 years old I has having severe stomach pains and I could keep anything down. They kept me for 3 days and then told me that I probably had a stamach virus. I am now 29 years old and I get sick at lease twice a month and its hard for me to gain weight.
Since May 12 my stomach has been constantly queasy and rumbling. It helps when I sit up and if I eat it gets a little bit better, but I haven't had much of an appetite. I have only had a few small bowel movements. I am very worried, I am only 17. I weigh 180 pounds and am 5'11" so I am in good physical shape. I worry about what it is and it only makes my stomach worse. Sometimes I have pain under my left rib cage (indigestion) but not recently; could the two symptoms be related?
Last week, i started off getting these random stabbing pains in my lower stomach, and feeling sick all the time. I thought i might be getting a bug so i didn't worry too much, but then on Friday (a few days after i had been getting the pains) i got my period. This was a week early. So i put those symptoms down to getting my period.. My period lasted 3days, which isn't really normal, but it was fine!
Within a couple of hours, my throat and face had a tickle that made me feel like I was going to vomit. My stomach didn't hurt, but my head had the same sensation that I was about to throw up. I did have diarrhea. I was very shaky and discovered that I couldn't seem to make my body do what I wanted. I normally type 100 words a minute, but just doing a Facebook status took me five minutes because I couldn't force my fingers to hit the keys I wanted them to.
I think this is still to do with your stomach bug virus. Do you feel cold at the same time? These shaking feelings are called rigors and because of your infection with the bug your body is fighting it. As you have experienced these rigors now for a few days, I would suggest you see your doctor and possibly get your stools checked out. Don't forget though, keep off all dairy produce, and just keep drinking water and lightly flavoured juice so that you do not become dehydrated.
make sure he takes his riba with FOOD, a good amount of food. eat yogurt, avoid sour foods, eat fiber, maybe find diary replacements.
All related. Stomach is just about 100% normal and happened literally OVERNIGHT. Only a virus would act that way after hurting me for 8 weeks. I am sitting here drinking coffee and wondering if the stress of working so hard and an emotional upset, even though I am not outwardly upset, brought this virus out in me. Yesterday a friend brought some food to the door. I could feel myself getting better as we spoke. I ask you again, miracle from God, or spontaneous withdrawal of the HSV virus?
I am a sixty-three year old woman who ran her first marathon in November 2008. After a bad stomach virus around the first of the year (2009), I started having a lot of abdominal pain. Did not do anything about it until in May 2009 I had to go to the ER with severe abdominal pain and fever. They diagnosed diverticulitis (without a CT Scan), sent me home with some Augmentin and that was supposed to be that.
The nausea had subsided SOME, but I have the worst gnawing, burning in my stomach area and chest. Two weeks prior to this, I had some sort of stomach virus for a whole two weeks. I believe it was viral because all of my family had it for that two week duration. I thought maybe I had relapsed and had the same virus again. But, I felt some different this time, and it has never gone away. I'm now a whole month out from that night. I'm never comfortable.
I’m a Norwegian male 40 years old , struggling with worsening stomach illness. situation is desperate. I write and post this here to get suggestions on what drugs and treatments might help alleviate my stomach pain and spasms and resulting heart palpitations. As my situation is complicated I will write a short chronological list and some links to give a overview. This post will be long but please bear with me, as I have a need to explain a very complicated situation.
Do you guys remember me telling you all how my 4 year old got a stomach bug right before Christmas? He only threw up one day and then seemed better but would still occasionally have loose stools and/or say his tummy hurt. This has been going on off and on since. They did do a stool test and it came back normal. Jan. 7th he was throwing up and not keeping anything down.Jan. 8th we took him back to the doctor. He was not eating, saying his tummy hurt and listless.
I felt like I had acid or something in my stomach. It was awful. But I eventually went home. After I was released, I was still really sick. I have these horrible flu-like symptoms and I'm still having heart palpitations that make it seem like my heart is going to jump out my chest any minute! I went to the hospital again and stayed for 2 1/2 days.
severe stomach pain after eating or drinking Posted: 08-05-08 22:44pm I have been suffering from horrible stomach pain that begins an hour or so after eating or drinking anything except sugar water (ie:Boost, chicken soup broth give me the same pain). It happens every single time I eat. If I have eaten something solid (mashed carrots, rice, chicken noodle soup) the pain usually peaks and I just vomit it all up. I still have pain after I vomit but it subsides over the next 4 hours or so.
She associates the onset after a bad bout of the stomach virus or the flu. She told me that many people associate it with heart burn that never gets better or sometimes gets worse. Anyway, there is a test for it (which told me I was positive) and now I am on a course of two antibiotics and a proton pump inhibitor. Lucky for me, I'm allergic to one of the antibiotics, so I get to be nauseous for the course of the medication -- 2 weeks. Hope that this helps.
Gradually ad stomach friendy food like low fat yogurt. Keep an eye on what upsets you or look up on line about food combining and check PH foods vs acidic foods. Do some walking or light excercising and do not eat atleast 4-5 hours before bed. If your hungry have only a light protein snack. This even now is still a work in progress for me but I feel a lot better.

Terry, If it would give you peace of mind, go for it, and get the tests. If you feel fine, and want to wait til you have some other problem, you could wait. It's your choice. Do what feels best to YOU. Or, you could call up your doctor and speak to the doctor, and ask his or her advice about whether to come in for tests!!
maybe to stop the virus from replicating or to get a hold of it,so when peg. is started, the virus will take a hard hit initially? Rocker, Thanks for the imfo. on the ginger. Definately going to look into the suppliment end of this subject to.

I try to squeeze it out and only a hard stool comes out. 5. The sweating stops and the stomach cramp subsides. I think everything is over and I clean up. I walk out of the toilet and in about 2 minutes time the stomach cramp and the fainting sensation comes back (I've fainted only once to date from this and was out for about 15-20 minutes). 6. When I get back to the toilet I have a really violent Diarrhoea episode in pure liquid state.
Diff, anemia, and mention to the doc about her feeling sick after the camp, and thus he should check for that scary strain of flu from last spring (a number of camp people in the mountains of NC recently got the H1N1 virus), also he should check for ordinary stomach flu, salmonella, and whatever else he thinks she may have caught in crowded conditions.
), and I've been having pretty bad stomach pain for years now, but it's progressivly changed. Since November 08, I've had this pain. It was in my right lower side at the time. I went to the hospital for that, thinking it was appendicitis, which is wasn't. I had some sort of scan (don't remember what it's called, but I had to drink barium), but nothing showed up. I went to a chiropractor the next day, and he said it was a virus in my appendix, and put me on probiotics.
