Common Questions and Answers about Stomach virus yellow diarrhea

It's now been 4 days of yellow, greasy, and kinda mucusy diarrhea (sorry but super gross). I had a slight fever on the second day however it went away. So I just thought it was a stomach virus. Third day felt like fine, continued on with my normal schedule. Not wanting to jinx it I ate lightly (crackers, bread, and water... etc.). Got home in time for dinner feeling perfectly fine. Ate couple slice of pizza and in the next hour had the same diarrhea as before.
It could still be a stomach virus, however, it could be a bacteria or even parasite. I recenlty had a stomach virus that lasted about 7-8 days. Have you ever been tested for or diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)? Your headaches could very well be a sign of dehydration - with all the diarrhea, you can get dehydrated pretty quickly. Be sure and stay well hydrated - water, ginger ale, sports type drinks are all good.
Hi! So I usually never get sick. In the last 8 months I have had 4 episodes of the same "stomach virus". I wake up in the middle of the night with the doom feeling and have diarrhea. It quickly turns to bright yellow and I have multiple episodes throughout the night. I do not usually feel sick to my stomach like nausea but I have dry heaved with each of the 4 episodes. My last one was Thursday night into Friday.
I did receive treatment for the possible bacterial infections STD given z pack, doxy, ofoflax, uribel and something for trich. My neuro said it's probably a unknown virus. I have been on a few rounds of antivirals for herpes just to see if there is a reaction, the antivirals seem to help the symptoms but herpes test was neg. I am thinking this maybe undetected herpes infection accompany with a fungal overgrowth due to excess antibiotics.
I had to wake up a few times to either vomit (brown) or have diarrhea (extremely watery). Every time I do that, my stomach would seem to flat out a bit, and I'd feel better. But after I go to sleep for however long, the bloatedness would come back and force me to go to the washroom again. It also hurts my urinal track when I pee, and the amount is very little. I've taken 3 of those chewing pills for diarrhea and excessive stomach acid, but it didn't seem to work.
Certainly sexual transmitted disease can manifest itself orally. The yellow tongue can also indicate faulty liver function or gall bladder, yellow is usually the sign of liver conditions, but, then again, it could be an infection. These STD's are very hard to get rid of as they are viruses and you cannot kill a virus.
loss in blood pressure that I couldn’t even hold my head up, felt like I would pass out; severe stomach cramps and liquid diarrhea, in my case there was no hard stool. I have experienced this problem probably 5 or 6 times in my life and I am 46. Difference today is that I did not eat a thing all day, only 3 cups of coffee over a 2 hr period and this episode occured around noon. In the past I some times felt like vomiting, but today I did not.
Virus, rotavirus to be exact, causes the so called stomach flu. This usually affect children; adults rarely have symptoms. It doesn't sound like a virus to me: stomach flu usually heals within a week. You've said that one doc diagnosed you with gastritis and that Prilosec and Mylanta helped. Pain in upper miidle abdomen additionally speak for gastritis and increased acid secretion, so it is quite possible that these meds would help you again.
Hi, For the past 12 days I have had what seems to be a virus. I went to the doctor Tuesday as I was suffering with: mild headache Coughing up green mucas Stuffy nose Both ears are blocked and cannot hear Chest pain Upper back pain from coughing...that's what I thought. She told me it was a virus and didn't give me anything. She checked my chest and said it was clear and looked in my ears and said there was no redness swelling etc.
I've been having those symptoms, and my doctor has told me it was an ulcer. It can cause your stomach to burn.Does your stomach burn after you eat?Or is the burning relieved by eating?Do you feel nauseated at times? You should go to the doctor(preferably a gastroenterologist)and have them check you out.
I am a 31 year old stay at home mom. Last Sunday night I woke up with severe diarrhea (nothing but water). It is still happening, 5 days later. The first 3 days I was going on average every 15 minutes. Anything I ate would go right through me. I have not had any other flu-like symptoms, no vomiting, no fever, nothing. Today my stool is still runny, but a little thicker like sherbert. It is floating and it's a yellow-orange color. What is this?
Make sure you are getting plenty of liquids and try Gatorade to replenish electrolytes. It's quite possible to have a stomach virus or bacterial infection, however, it sounds like you have a few different things going on at once (stomach, throat, fatigue). I would see a doctor right away to get checked out. Good Luck! I am not a doctor and these are strictly my opinions.
All of a sudden there are little sounds from my stomach and I believe whatever's inside had moved to my intestines. Shortly after, I had diarrhea. When my stomach is finally empty I felt better. But after eating congee and some biscuits, I burp and the rotten egg smell is still there. Now I wonder if the bacteria stays in my stomach until I fill it up with food, then vomit them back out along with the bacteria. Also, this is the first time I've had 2 .. episodes within a month.
I am 23.I have had gastrointeritis virus(not sure spelled correct), about 5 times over the last 2 years. My symptoms have gotten worse over the last 3 months.I have bad stomach pain.Bowl movements are ridiculous.I go so often I can't I can't imagine how. It's not solid it's yellow liquid and green(sorry to be so informative).I feel okay sometimes. But when I eat anything it kicks in gear.I have this constant grumble that at this point I'm so tired of it.
Her symptoms dehydration, stomach cramps (sharp pains on her right side), severe lower back pain, and brownish-yellow mucuos-like diarrhea. For the past two days, I have been experiencing the same symptoms minus the sharp pains in my stomach my tends to be a mild gurgle accompanied with nausea. This "virus" that my room mate had is obviously contagious. What types of infections could this be? Is it serious and should I/We seek medical attention?
Yes GHilly, the iris of her eye where it was once light blue is yellow-green. Her gums are yellow her skin I think is pale white-pink. (She's got a lot of fur) Even though she has seemed to perk up since taking the meds and she isn't throwing up anymore I can't get her to drink water. She just ignores it unless I encourage her and praise her while she drinks. I know its not parvo, I had my first puppy pass away from that and it was a god awful experience that I don't wish upon anyone.

I am so sorry that you are going through this right now! What is confusing me is that he has diarrhea but almost no gut motility. During diarrhea, the intestines are in hyperdrive, pushing things through at many times the normal speed, yet his intestines are barely moving. It makes me wonder if his vagus nerve is somehow involved. Have you had him tested for diabetes? Diabetic neuropathy CAN be responsible for this type of thing, and even though he is young, he can still be diabetic.
All related. Stomach is just about 100% normal and happened literally OVERNIGHT. Only a virus would act that way after hurting me for 8 weeks. I am sitting here drinking coffee and wondering if the stress of working so hard and an emotional upset, even though I am not outwardly upset, brought this virus out in me. Yesterday a friend brought some food to the door. I could feel myself getting better as we spoke. I ask you again, miracle from God, or spontaneous withdrawal of the HSV virus?
My husband has been suffering for 9 years (off and on) with these same rotten egg burps, stomach pain, diarrhea, then vomitting and no one has really been able to help him. The interesting thing is that about a year ago, my son (ten yrs old) and I joined him and are having the same symptoms except that I don't vomit. Our other younger children often have diarrhea but no other symptoms, so I don't know if it is related or something completely different.
His skin colour is also normal (pink and white, not yellow). His main symptom is frequent, unproductive retching and constant stomach churning. At first, we thought he had a simple tummy bug, but a few nights ago, the retching became very frequent and severe (like every few minutes). It stops when he sleeps though. The past few days, it didn't go away, but it is now about every 10 - 15 minutes. He is very uncomfortable with it, and can't really return to school like this.
I went thru a long period of diarrhea seeing the Gastro doctor many times only to be told it is IBS. The problem kepts getting worse along with stomach pain. I switched doctors looking for help and he ran various test and it came out that I had Vibro. It is a form of cholera which is contracted by eating shell fish. I got it from eating oysters 8 months before I got diagnosed. All it took was antibiotics to correct the problem.
- when you have diarrhea, is the stool PALE (yellow) - on basis of what, your doctor said, you have more acid? Were there any changes seen on gastroscopy? Sudden onset, stress, "nothing found", alternating diarrhea and constipation, "nothing helps" - these are characteristic "events" in IBS.
Crazy but I had the same symptoms lastnight - stomach cramping, nausea, diarrhea, shaking shivers, teeth chattering - I could barely make it to the bathroom in time. I thought I was going to pass out. The only differenc eis I am 33 weeks pregnant. I am going in to see my doctor tomorrow regarding it but I was wondering if anyone else was pregnant with these symptoms? It only lasted 10 to 15 minutes but it was scary.
Lettuce seems to upset my stomach as well, if eaten in large amounts I tend to have severe diarrhea, which is always bright yellow in color and feels like its just pure acid. Also, within the past 3 months, I have been experiencing CONSTANT nausea, the nausea seemed to have followed right after a horrible experience with Strep Throat. I've had Strep before, but I've never been as sick as I was about 2 months ago. I could not stop throwing up & was as nauseated as ever.

I went to the doctor and he just suggested that it was a stomach virus that I had and really suggested that I eat solid food because I hadn't since I got sick. That was yesterday. I came home and ate a light meal and felt more replenished and slightly more energized. I had also started to feel finally "better" somewhat. I went to bed in a pretty good and confident mood but then when I woke up, low and behold I had that pain in my middle stomach, around the same area as before.
I have a 3 yr old son who has had diarrhea for the past 4 days. At first it was yellow and he had stomach cramping and abdominal pain that came and went night and day. Now he has mucus and blood in his stool. We are currently collecting stool samples for the doctor however I was wondering if this is some time of virus that anyone else has experienced with their child.
