Hi and sorry you are ill. There is no such thing as "stomach flu" meaning the influenza virus does not cause flu in the stomach. It is considered gastroenteritis. The symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, low grade fever up to 100 degrees and possible cramps are caused by many things, virus or bacterial. However, the most common cause is a virus called Norovirus. It is spead from person to person by fecal oral contamination.

I'm pregnant and on top of being sick already, I now have a wonderful stomach virus. Is there anything anyone can recommend? I can stay out of the restroom and literally on the toilet with a bucket in front of me.

Then three days later on the Friday my husband started vomiting and having diarrhea every 10 minutes or so I brought him in and they gave him the same thing and sent him home. Saturday he had a fever of 102 so I brought him back and they kept him overnight. They did multiple blood tests and stool cultures but all they found was a slightly elevated white blood cell count and his stool culture came back clean so they aren't sure what it was.

I'm 6 months pregnant and I believe I have a stomach virus. I've been up since 3 am with diarrhea and throwing up non-stop. I've called my primary care doctor 3 times with no answer and I have an appointment tomorrow with my OB doctor. What can I do or should I do in the mean time?

The only thing is the symptoms don't happen at the same time. I have experienced all this throughout the course of 4 days. Today's is just diarrhea and stomach cramps...yesterday I was throwing up and I have not had a fever...body chills are normally at night...ugh too much for right now.

t know if i am pregnant it is a possibility, though for the past two days i have had diarrhea and need a bowl in my lap at the same time to vomit i have been having stomach pain along with it, though never in my life have i ever have that happen or vomit and have diarrhea without a fever or having to be in bed for days...

I have emetophobia. I have since taken two more zofran and Pepto. No vomiting or diarrhea, but I did wake up with a bad headache. I haven’t eaten a lot lately. Does this mean I will be sick for a longer period of time? How will the virus shed?

This was also puzzling as hell to me but apparently some people (like me I guess) can have their vasovagal nerve stimulated during gastoinstenitis times or times of diarrhea--though I have never once felt faint when having ordinary diarrhea in the past. This diarrhea was associated w/a stomach virus however and I did vomit a couple times early in the sequence...after vomiting it was diarrhea only thereafter. Anyhow if anyone has any insight I'd greatly appreciate it.

Same stomach virus hit my whole house last week. I'm 12 weeks, even with all the vomiting I continued to drink water and ginger ale and even though most of it didn't stay down my dr said I held off dehydration because your body's going to get some of it before it comes back up....it's a horrible horrible virus...I hope you feel better soon.

A week ago I came down with a pretty bad stomach bug. Fever, nausea/vomiting, chills, terrible diarrhea. I gave my body the weekend to feel better but each day I woke up feeling slightly worse than the day before. The nausea and diarrhea were unbearable. When Monday morning rolled aeound I figured I'd better see a doctor. I went to Urgent Care and got a bag of I.V. fluids and 8mg of Zofran intravenously. I was extremely dehydrated and it definitely helped!

I woke up Friday vomiting and diarrhea. The vomiting stopped after one day, but on Sunday, I still have diarrhea and my ovaries have hurt the entire time. My period is about to start, but my ovaries have never hurt more than 1 day before I start. Help!

I'm a female 21 years old. Last night I didn't have a complete dinner, I ate a little bit of cheese and about 3 glasses of red wine. I looked up early HIV symptoms, and yes, vomiting and diarrhea can be signs. However, your test came back negative, so again, I highly suggest seeing your GP as the above symptoms can be caused by so many health issues.

The doc checked me out and said it was merely a stomach virus but its been a week already and havent gotten better. What i wonder about is my stomach is fine no pain until i have to use the bethroom then i get this severe feels like burning pain right below the waist line along with hot flashes and sweating i feel like im going to vomit and passout but after im done the stomach pain gradually goes away and im fine.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community! It might be an appendicitis. If it was just a stomach virus causing the pain he probably would have had diarrhea or vomiting. Even though the appendix is located more to the right, the pain can something be in a different place. I would recommend taking him to the ER asap and asking for a CT scan with contrast of his abdomen. Good luck.

There's a stomach virus going around everywhere with vomiting and diarrhea that's possibly what you've contracted. Usually within the first 24-48hrs will it subside if not I recommend you be hospitalized due to possible dehydration which can send one into preterm labor and i said (can) not will.
