1770029 tn?1325802355 Hi and sorry you are ill. There is no such thing as "stomach flu" meaning the influenza virus does not cause flu in the stomach. It is considered gastroenteritis. The symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, low grade fever up to 100 degrees and possible cramps are caused by many things, virus or bacterial. However, the most common cause is a virus called Norovirus. It is spead from person to person by fecal oral contamination.
Avatar f tn ve cleaned everything in the house so I was wondering if it was a stomach virus should I be safe from catching it again by now?
Avatar f tn I'm 6 months pregnant and I believe I have a stomach virus. I've been up since 3 am with diarrhea and throwing up non-stop. I've called my primary care doctor 3 times with no answer and I have an appointment tomorrow with my OB doctor. What can I do or should I do in the mean time?
Avatar n tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! The symptoms of norovirus are the symptoms of gastroenteritis. These include stomach, pain, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. I don't believe it is running around california now.
Avatar f tn So, it could be the stomach virus. You're still sick even if you inhibit vomiting. Glad that worked for you! The other possibility is that perhaps you had a touch of food poisoning but with your house having a stomach virus, likely you did as well and while the meds you took (don't take someone else's meds, take only what is prescribed by a doctor for you personally)--- stopped vomiting, it doesn't mean you didn't have the virus and other effects of it.
Avatar n tn ve been sick with either the stomach virus or a sinus infection every few weeks since november. The mucus is the worst. I keep instant rice, Gatorade, and apple sauce in the house 24/7 and my favorite restaurants delivery guy has probably seen too much at this point.
Avatar f tn I'm pregnant and on top of being sick already, I now have a wonderful stomach virus. Is there anything anyone can recommend? I can stay out of the restroom and literally on the toilet with a bucket in front of me.
Avatar f tn This is a first for me. I have the stomach virus and it is 10 times worse than it ever has been. I am 11 weeks pregnant. I can't hold anything down not even water... does anyone have suggestions? I am in fear of dehydration at this point.
Avatar m tn Four days later i came down with what seemed like a stomach virus (vomiting, diarhea and fever of 100) that last 24 hours. I know that logically there was little risk, but i am uncomfortable with the fact that i came down with an illness/symptoms so close (4 days) to the sexual encounter. Questions: 1. does ars show within 4 days (some info says after a week or two) 2. does ars last as short as 24 hours (some info says that symptoms last 1-2 weeks) 3. general thoughts.
Avatar n tn Day one my 7 year old child had fever, stomach pain and vomiting... last 24 virus.... but since them with exception of fever every 3 days she weaks up during the night vomiting and having stomch pain that last 24 and reocurring in a pattern of 3 days....I just took her to the doctor... I was informed that is a virus and I should treat only with antibiotics... I wonder if it is not necessary having blood test done...
Avatar n tn I know exactly what you mean. About 6 years ago I had a horrible stomach virus that lasted for 5 days. By day 5 I couldn't even touch my stomach. So went to the Dr. He did blood tests and found out I had had pancreatitis. Went for every test under the sun with a GI Dr.through the next 3-6 months. Endoscopy showed inflammation of the stomach lining. I had a MRCP, which is an endoscopy where they look at your gallbladder and they found some sludge.
Avatar f tn "Is there an insulin that doest not cause stomach pain, chills, and vomiting?" Call your local pharmacy and schedule a consultation with the Pharmacist. Also, ask your doctor for a referral to an Endocrinologist, a diabetes specialist, as your current doctor appears to be playing you as a guinea pig; try this and if it doesn't work we'll try something until we find something that works, maybe.
Avatar n tn I am a 24 year old female. In early June I had a stomach virus consisting of intense nausea and diarrhea as well as aches and general malaise. Since then (now mid October) I have experienced recurring nausea which is worse at night. It keeps me awake and I can hear and feel my stomach churning. My bad "attacks" occur about once a week, sometimes more or less frequently, lasting about 24 hours.
1211508 tn?1343079605 This was also puzzling as hell to me but apparently some people (like me I guess) can have their vasovagal nerve stimulated during gastoinstenitis times or times of diarrhea--though I have never once felt faint when having ordinary diarrhea in the past. This diarrhea was associated w/a stomach virus however and I did vomit a couple times early in the sequence...after vomiting it was diarrhea only thereafter. Anyhow if anyone has any insight I'd greatly appreciate it.
Avatar n tn I've been having stomach ache pains for about 6 days or so now, accompanied with diahrrea (yay!!) But I haven't had nausea, vomiting, or fever. So I'm not sure if it's a virus or potentially preterm labor - don't even know if that's even a sign of labor. I'm 29 weeks pregnant with my first baby, so i really have no clue what to expect or make of this. Im sure new moms can relate ;) Has anyone had anything similar to this? Thanks!!!
11294269 tn?1422402907 Sorry for the TMI but this is my second day with terrible diareha (sp?). I have no other symptoms. My stomach doesn't hurt, no vomiting, no nausea, no other symptoms other than not being about to be away from a bathroom. Its ridiculous. Does this happen in pregnancy or maybe a virus? Again, i dont have any other symptoms.
Avatar m tn I believe you have a stomach virus. The first thing I would do is yes, go to the hospital if it's something more serious. A stomach virus can be easily treated at the hospital. The key to the solution is more water.
Avatar m tn 5 year old that is not a simple stomach virus!! It worried me when I read that he had vomiting and diarrhea for so long but now his stomach is distended!! I worked as an EMT for a number of years and a distended stomach is usually a sign of something more complicated than a stomach virus!! Please let us know how it turns out. I agree with mammo if you can't get him into a gastroenterologist take him to the ER...
Avatar f tn My 6 year old daughter is vomiting after drinking a milk... and suffer from stomach pain..
Avatar n tn OK I know, kind of a gross topic. I've been diagnosed with acute anxiety and have had issues with gagging including occasionally enough to make me throw up mildly [as in once and a small amount]. So here's my question. Had dinner Friday nite at wife's parents & on way home felt nauseous. & stomach ache [no anxiety whatsoever]. That nite starting at midnite I was up every hour 'til early morning throwing up until just clear liquid & really strong stomach cramps.
Avatar f tn A week ago I came down with a pretty bad stomach bug. Fever, nausea/vomiting, chills, terrible diarrhea. I gave my body the weekend to feel better but each day I woke up feeling slightly worse than the day before. The nausea and diarrhea were unbearable. When Monday morning rolled aeound I figured I'd better see a doctor. I went to Urgent Care and got a bag of I.V. fluids and 8mg of Zofran intravenously. I was extremely dehydrated and it definitely helped!
10389360 tn?1410823968 Same stomach virus hit my whole house last week. I'm 12 weeks, even with all the vomiting I continued to drink water and ginger ale and even though most of it didn't stay down my dr said I held off dehydration because your body's going to get some of it before it comes back up....it's a horrible horrible virus...I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn Hello~You could be getting the flu or a stomach virus, if it continues or gets worse, I would see your physician.
