Avatar n tn My uncle recently had a heart attack and is now fine, but the meds he is on revealed a stomach ulcer (caused his stomach to bleed as they aggrevated his ulcer) that he was completely unaware of, being that he does not drink and previously had no symptoms. I htink it will probably transpire that he has had this bug. Anyway, get it checked and take care.
Avatar m tn I went back to see him last year and told him about the pain in my stomach and back and he just felt around my stomach and said, your fine. Its anxiety ! He said, stress and anxiety disorders can make things feel ten times worse then they really are, stop worrying. See you next year. I haven't lost any weight in fact I put on about 10lbs. since I last seen him. No my stools aren't dark, in fact they are a light brown. He already told me that was normal.

Avatar m tn I am a 30 year old male, 6' 0" and 137lb (tall and slender runs in my family, but I'm probably the skinniest male). I've had stomach problems for about 9 years which I have just over the past few years attributed to high anxiety. After my first son was born (3 years ago) I vowed to find out what was going on with my stomach problems. I went to a Gastroenterologist and he ordered the gambit of tests. I did the stool sample first --- negative.
Avatar n tn t drink wine anymore. I find that wine irritates my stomach and causes me great discomfort. Any thoughts??? Oh yes, my liver enzymes are slightly elevated as well. I'm perplexed and concerned as I can't enjoy my glass of wine with my dinner anymore, and the docs don't seem to have an answer for me. HELP!
Avatar f tn Your persisting symptoms of pain, nausea and vomiting could indicate a viral gastroenteritis. The other causes could be jaundice if there is yellowish discoloration of skin, food poisoning if the symptoms occurred shortly after taking food, peptic ulcer disease and sometimes cholecystitis and pancreatitis. Please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation. In the meantime take oral fluids and OTC acetaminophen for the pain. Regards.
Avatar m tn Since I was previously on a prescription anti inflammatory for tennis elbow my doctor thought it was a stomach ulcer. After a month of omeprazole I was no better and had a stool test for H.Pylori which came up negative. Since then I've been suffering in silence trying to figure out if I can solve the problem myself by changing my diet or taking over the counter medication but have had no luck. The problem now seems to be more associated with my abdomen.
Avatar f tn org/diseases-conditions/peptic-ulcer/symptoms-causes/syc-20354223. I suffered my first ulcer for several months before it was found on endoscopy and then I drank a chalky liquid for two days and felt better. So, it can be a quick recovery if this is the situation for you. Do you take a lot of nsaids by the way?
Avatar f tn Stones can chronically irritate the gall bladder and cause inflammation and pain. The other causes could be gastritis, peptic ulcer disease and GERD. Kidney disorders too produce colicky and sharp pain. Sometimes anxiety with flatulence can cause this pain. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper evaluation of pain and therapy. Regards.
567392 tn?1216751526 My symptoms were from what I thought was an ulcer, but my doctor sent me for these tests because my mom was recently diganosed with stomach cancer. Symptoms- burning feeling and a lot of pain in the pit of my stomach.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed 2 years ago with stomach ulcers. The doctor's findings are..."My entire stomach is one big ulcer". Biopsis were done and they all came back negative. The Dr. started me on 40 mg. of Nexium once a day, we had to up the dosage to 40 Mg. twice a day to see results. I have been maintaining this dosage for 2 years, and in the last few months my discomfort has seriously increased.
Avatar f tn Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better. My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.
Avatar f tn The GI symptoms are known as dyspepsia - simply defined as upper GI discomfort. Causes can include an ulcer, inflammation of the stomach and esophagus, GERD, or cancer. Other potential causes include gall bladder diseases or pancreatitis. You stated you are interested in non-invasive tests. I would suggest a liver panel, blood tests for H Pylori (a bacteria associated with ulcers and inflammation of the stomach), and amylase/lipase for the pancreas.
Avatar f tn Can Nexium or Zantac cause heart palpitations? Ever since I started taking them I have been experiencing these weird flattering things should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn There are other organs there as well, so until further testing is done there is no way to say what it is. You have your gallbladder, stomach and small intestine, so you are on the right track with seeing a GI doctor as this is his specialty. Any infection would show up in your bloodwork. "Burning" is normally a symptom of an ulcer. Sleeping on your right side causes any stomach acid, contents to pool on that side, and if it's an ulcer this may be aggravating it.
Avatar m tn I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like you should see a gastroenterologist (who specializes in stomach problems) - maybe you have an ulcer or something else more serious.
Avatar m tn pylori infection. H. pylori is in the stomach and causes gastritis, ulcer and this bloating. If you try treat this, then you'll see what other symptoms will remain. Burning irritation in upper back may actually be heartburn, or, if you don't think so, a muscular pain due to constant or repeated forced posture, or even from discus hernia in that region.
Avatar f tn I have had a lot of stomach pain. I have both Lyme and Bartonella (Babesia, too), and the article by Virginia Sherr, a Lyme aware GI doc, explained my abdominal symptoms very well. She calls it "Bell's Palsy of the gut." When Lyme causes partial paralysis of the digestive system, all kinds of problems appear. The stomach can't control the amount of acid it produces, so you can alternate between too much (burning) and too little (poor digestion, cramping).
Avatar m tn Figuring it to be exhaustion I put up with it for a week. When the symptoms persisted I called the doc. His review was a peptic ulcer and prescribed 30mg of Prevacid along with 1g of Amoxil and Biaxin (not sure of amount). Since then, I have nausea in the morning upon waking even after eating and taking the pills. In the afternoon I start to cough and get a taste of mucus or bile. I am too young to have these problems. Please help or advise anyway you can.
Avatar n tn My lab has for lack of a kinder word, diarrhea breath inthe past few months. My vet checked her teeth, they are ok. I've asked her about it twice now. She gave me Tagamet and Antirobe Aquadrops in case my dog has an ulcer in her stomach or something is how she put it. They aren't helping. My vet doesn't seem very concerned, but the breath is horrid! What could be causing this? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn Commonest cause of chronic nausea is acidity. Take omeprazole (empty stomach in morning) and antacid gel and see if it helps. Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause. Hence kidney and liver function tests should be done. Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea. IBS, gluten or lactose intolerance, parasites in gut too can be the cause. A stool test should be done for worms, giardiasis etc.
Avatar n tn My regular doctor sent me to a couple specialists and no one can find anything i have gone gullbladder checks and stomach emptying scans and nothing ever comes back abnormal. When these "attacks" as i call them occur im stuck in bed for sometimes up to 36 hours. Extreme stomach pains, extreme diarreha and the nastiest burps that are like rotten eggs. I sleep it off and then it comes back sometimes weeks later or sometimes sooner.
655875 tn?1295695107 It's been roughly 2 years and the ulcer symptoms never truly went away thanks to the OxyContin OP formula switch. I had no choice, but to switch to the patch. The MS Contin did cover my pain better then the patch, but I don't have a choice right now. I'm hoping its it too late for my stomach to heal.
Avatar n tn From the age of 11, I have been getting severe stomach pains just under the ribs which last for one to two hours. The pains have never been predictalble and I have no idea what sets them off. I am 23 now and I'm getting sick and tired of the problem. The pain is on the left one time and the right at other times. The only thing I can link to it is sometimes if I skip a meal I'll get hungry and then straight afterwards it hits.
203342 tn?1328737207 What are they symptoms of a stomach ulcer? I've had this gnawing feeling in my stomach lately when I shouldn't be hungry. I noticed it tonight after dinner. It almost feels like my stomach is eating itself! I know that's a strange way to put it. It's kind of hard to describe. I also feel a bit of possible heartburn off and on. At least that's what I think it is. I've been pretty busy so I don't know if I might have missed any symptoms before.
