I have GI appointment at the end of the month. Is it possible to have a stomach ulcer for 6 months?

Why do i have pain in my upper left stomach, nausea after i eat, loss of appetite, and everytime i drink water it makes it worse

for stress/anxiety and he thinks that may be why my stomach is not healing. He said that too much stress can cause your stomach to produce more acid. I have noticed that during times of extreme stress my ulcer pain gets very bad. He prescribed Xanax, which I have taken in the past, but never on a daily basis. I'm supposed to take .5mg twice a day for now to see if keeping my anxiety/stress calmed down helps my stomach at all.

the pain is central in the stomach and above the belly button. The meds Im on are actually for an ulcer or excess acid and do help when taken - its a horrid pain!

No significant improvement on the carafate after a month. My primary care Dr. thinks my stress and anxiety are a factor in my stomach not healing. My uncle recently had a heart attack and is now fine, but the meds he is on revealed a stomach ulcer (caused his stomach to bleed as they aggrevated his ulcer) that he was completely unaware of, being that he does not drink and previously had no symptoms. I htink it will probably transpire that he has had this bug. Anyway, get it checked and take care.

Stress can also cause ulcers in your stomach causing these symptoms. Have you been checked for an ulcer? I would recomend seeing your physician and having an exam and full blood work up done. Whether you are generally healthy or not, it is still possible to get sick and stress can weaken your immune system causing you to catch certain illnesses. Please see your doctor.

It may be a peptic ulcer.....and stress, huge temp changes in food, spicy foods, alcohol etc can make it worse.

It sounds alot like Gasterointestinal problems . The stomach acid could be aggrivated when under stress and cause a reflux type condition. Maybe you could try someting on the order of Prilosec or any type of OTC antacid product. Stress can do strange things the Body..........

I know with my heartburn it just burns from my stomach up to my throat. Could she have a ulcer? I know when I had one my stomach hurt and it felt like cramping. have you taking her to a family dr? I would start there. And maybe when she is having these pains to have her eat some tums or something that is for heartburn just to see if that helps because those meds also help with ulcer pain.

Gastritis is a more likely scenario. It might not be a bad idea to check with your doc and possibly ask for some testing. You may want to consider asking him to check for the presence of H. pylori, the bacteria that is implicated in causing stomach issues and gastritis.

I was diagnosed 2 years ago with stomach ulcers. The doctor's findings are..."My entire stomach is one big ulcer". Biopsis were done and they all came back negative. The Dr. started me on 40 mg. of Nexium once a day, we had to up the dosage to 40 Mg. twice a day to see results. I have been maintaining this dosage for 2 years, and in the last few months my discomfort has seriously increased.

Could this be duodenal ulcer? A trial of Omeprazole would quickly tell you.
