Avatar n tn Hello, Gastritis can cause pain in the upper abdomen after eating .Peptic ulcer disease causes upper left quadrant pain that usually begins 2 hours after a meal. It gets better with over the counter antacids. Stomach flu can cause indigestion and abdominal discomfort. Viral gastroenteritis can lead to nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. The exact location of pain and other details will help in determining the accurate cause .Take light meals. Avoid spicy fried foods.
Avatar f tn In reviewing my medical records from my gastroenterologist it seems they keep bouncing between a diagnoses of "non ulcer dyspepsia" and "peptic ulcer disease". The non ulcer dyspepsia is a fancy term for ulcer like stomach pain without an ulcer and no clear cause. Then I occasionally do show up with peptic ulcers, which I thought were from accidentally taking a migraine medication that had aspirin in it...but I've never been checked for the pylori bacteria.
Avatar m tn I have GI appointment at the end of the month. Is it possible to have a stomach ulcer for 6 months?
Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the forum. I would ask your doctor for guidance. They recommended the proton pump inhibitor and prescribed it? I think if they prescribed it for a particular symptom and you no longer have it, I would consider holding off on taking the medication. Like all drugs, these too have risks as well as benefits. Things like a long term side effect on calcium metabolism that can lead to bone fracture or osteoporosis which is associated with PPI's.
Avatar m tn While burning pain can indicate stomach problems (an ulcer or gastritis), the location of the pain leads one to have concern about your liver as the source of the pain. If the liver is not functioning normally you can have increased gas. If the pain is episodic and related to food consumption (especially fried or fatty foods) then gallstone disease could be a cause. On the other hand, a constant burning pain would also make us suspicious for liver inflammation, or hepatitis.
Avatar f tn See an Eye MD today. Other choices are famvir and acyclovir.
Avatar n tn You are being paranoid, the location you describe is a common location for fissures, yeast infections and minor trauma. We do not recommend blood tests for HSV diagnosis.
1752640 tn?1352767394 Gastritis is a more likely scenario. It might not be a bad idea to check with your doc and possibly ask for some testing. You may want to consider asking him to check for the presence of H. pylori, the bacteria that is implicated in causing stomach issues and gastritis.
Avatar f tn Why do i have pain in my upper left stomach, nausea after i eat, loss of appetite, and everytime i drink water it makes it worse
Avatar f tn Hi Winters I am not a doctor but when I experienced symptoms similar to yours I went to my famly doctor and she said it was probably an ulcer or irritation of the lining of the stomach. She sent me to a specialist who performed an EGD - scope goes down the throat into the stomach and I was diagnosed with stomach ulcers. Once I started taking the meds for that, my pain and symptoms went away.
526146 tn?1287442248 the pain is central in the stomach and above the belly button. The meds Im on are actually for an ulcer or excess acid and do help when taken - its a horrid pain!
Avatar n tn Intense pain in my stomach area, hard to describe, so bear with me. I am a 23 year old female, 5'1 and about 80lbs. Tuesday night I began getting these sharp pains in my stomach. It is right under my rib cage in the center, just above my belly button. I think it's not gas pains because it's not in my intestinal area. These pains come in waves, every 20-40 seconds, I can feel it slowly building, then reaches its peak and fades out. Then it happens again.
Avatar m tn I woke up later that night at about 2am with severe stomach pain. The pain has become mild andcomes and goes. Could I have an ulcer?
Avatar f tn probably should consult with a GI specialist for more testing but an upper endoscope would probably be a good idea followed by colonoscopy. Still sounds like ulcer though with the location of pain unless your passing a kidney stone and your IBS symptoms are going bezerk but that doesn't explain blood.
Avatar f tn Could I have an ulcer? I have stomach pain around my belly button and above - pain goes through to my back. Pain severe when I waken in the morning until I get up (strange) Pain is worse when I am lying down. When I eat, the pain goes away for a couple of hours, then comes back.
8742761 tn?1399611857 At first I thought this was just heart burn but I haven't slept in 3 days bc my stomach feels like its burning or just pain and its not just my upper stomach its all over. I'm 33weeks tomorrow first time mommy and starting to get worried someone please help tell me if this is normal.
Avatar f tn The reason stomach acid does not destroy your stomach is because your stomach is lined with mucus membranes. Stomach acid is not like the advertisements that show the acid in a container and a TUMS is added to the container and the acid is neutralized. Your stomach has acid pumps that spew acid whenever food or liquid is added in your stomach. I do not know how many acid pumps there are in a human's stomach, but enough to attack whatever is added to your stomach for digestion purposes.
114870 tn?1210298346 mmm since milk helps you out and you have strong pain and reflux that pretty much points out an ulcer of some sort - milk has calcium that helps ulcers so that's probably why you feel better on milk, i'm curious if some sort of ulcer has developed...usually with all the acid blocking meds you've taken you wouldn't get one unless it was an infection like h.ployri. I'm sure you've been tested for h. ploryi..
2045555 tn?1330079620 I have this problem in my stomach. My stomach burns and Pains very much but I don't diarrhea and sometimes I feel powerless , my muscles shaking and over sweating. I treated that, and began probiotics right away. By then my stomach was very painful and churning burning ALL the time. The foods I was eating regularly started making me feel like vomiting. Like potatoes, then beef, then chicken, cauliflower etc etc It' s as though I was/am still getting allergic to all these foods.
