The most common cause is the infection with H.Pylori. Does the pain cause you to wake up in the midnight. About fifty percent of patients with duodenal ulcers awake during the night with pain, usually between midnight and three a.m. Duodenal ulcers respond well to treatment, so relax and get yourself checked.

Avatar f tn Why do i have pain in my upper left stomach, nausea after i eat, loss of appetite, and everytime i drink water it makes it worse
Avatar f tn for stress/anxiety and he thinks that may be why my stomach is not healing. He said that too much stress can cause your stomach to produce more acid. I have noticed that during times of extreme stress my ulcer pain gets very bad. He prescribed Xanax, which I have taken in the past, but never on a daily basis. I'm supposed to take .5mg twice a day for now to see if keeping my anxiety/stress calmed down helps my stomach at all.
Avatar f tn His GP is not qualified to handle this situation, only a Gastroenterologist can help him. An ulcer is like a crater and if left untreated it will eat right thru the stomach creating a fatal situation. The ulcer itself needs to be addressed not the symptoms. Your husband should have taken the clinic's advice. This is nothing to fool around with. Take care...
Avatar m tn I'm confused by your terms a little bit. If by lower GI you mean a barium enema or a colonoscopy (lower endoscopy), then it will not show a ulcer. If by upper GI, you mean an upper GI series, I believe it will not always show an ulcer. If by upper GI, you mean an upper endoscopy, then yes it will show an ulcer.
Avatar f tn He complains of pain everytime he eats and upon waking up. We had a stomach x-ray to see if he was constipated. He was clear. They though he might have H.Pylori, clear. The are now testing his stools for parasites. His stools are a vibrant green color even if he hasn't had any veggies the night before. His Dr. has suggested we give him a table spoon of malox prior to eating anything. He will spend a good part of the day sitting on the toilet, but can't produce anything.
526146 tn?1287442248 the pain is central in the stomach and above the belly button. The meds Im on are actually for an ulcer or excess acid and do help when taken - its a horrid pain!
Avatar n tn For about 2-3 months my stomach has been giving me this really bad pain, but it goes away after about an hour. It comes after I eat sometimes and then other times it just comes up whenever. It's not just in one spot it's my whole stomach, and sometimes i get this feeling where I need to throwup but it goes away in 5-10 minutes. Should I go see my doctor or will all of this stop after a while?
Avatar f tn In reviewing my medical records from my gastroenterologist it seems they keep bouncing between a diagnoses of "non ulcer dyspepsia" and "peptic ulcer disease". The non ulcer dyspepsia is a fancy term for ulcer like stomach pain without an ulcer and no clear cause. Then I occasionally do show up with peptic ulcers, which I thought were from accidentally taking a migraine medication that had aspirin in it...but I've never been checked for the pylori bacteria.
Avatar m tn t noticed anything unusual, but when I am standing my upper right stomach sticks out a bit further than the left side. When I push on it it is kind of hard. All three doctors didn't notice any inflammation of my liver... Any ideas of what it could be? P.S. I have had this OCD thing for the past 2 and a half months where I continuously poke that area :S. Maybe I tightened or strengthened the muscles? LOL. It feels a bit harder on the right side than the as well..
Avatar m tn I woke up later that night at about 2am with severe stomach pain. The pain has become mild andcomes and goes. Could I have an ulcer?

Avatar f tn No significant improvement on the carafate after a month. My primary care Dr. thinks my stress and anxiety are a factor in my stomach not healing. I don't think it actually caused the ulcer, but he said that too much stress can cause your stomach to produce more acid. I'm extremely stressed out and anxious about pretty much everything these days, and noticed that my body, especially my abdomen, is always tensed up without me even realizing it.
