Abnormal results are when the pH values in the oesophagus resemble those of the stomach or the gastric pH is found to be highly acidic even after eating food. You may like to discuss the results in detail with your doctor. Hope this information is helpful. Take care!
I am waiting for the results of my bravo ph test. I have no gerd symptoms. During my endoscopy for something unrelated, my doctor took a biopsy along my z-line. First, it was misdiagnosed as barretts, but a 2nd opinion from John Hopkins said it was cardia-tissue (stomach). Anyways, my doctor told me to take PPI's despite no symptoms. So I requested the bravo ph test.
HELP, SCHEDULED FOR MOBILITY AND 24 HR PH TEST? HAS ANYONE HAD THIS TEST? NEEDLESS, TO SAY I AM APREHENSIVE ABOUT THIS. IF THE RESULTS ARE POSTIVE THEN WHAT? HAS ANYONE HAD THE SURGERY? THAT APPEARS TO BE MY NEXT OPTION.
Has anyone had a 24 hr ph? and what is a normal level?I heard anything under 4.0 means acid build up . IF you had this test can you tell me everything about it. I just had it and i am waiting for results.
Any substance that is acidic falls between 1 and 7, where 7 is neutral. Water we drink has a pH scale of 7; our stomach acid(concentrated hydrochloric acid)has a pH of about 3. Lemon juice and vineger have pH scales of 2-3. A substance called sodium hydroxide(NAOH)is very alkaline and its pH scale is beyond 7 and near to 14. For comparison only, the pH of a woman's vagina needs to be alkaline to prevent yeast infections.
My husband 49, has PH & Scleroderma. In the last year has had episodes of cough syncope. First they tried to take him off diovan, then eventually digitek. They also suggested that his esophagheal dysfunction was creating the Gerd that was causing the coughing, sending the blood out of his lungs and making him pass out. He has had more episodes lately, along with a lot of irregular heart beats. He is taking bosentan 125 bid, which one of the side effects is cough syncope.
Hi about the motility test,i got both the ph probe and the motility test done and they are really not bad. The ph probe is a little uncomfortable but not too bad and the motility test doesn't take long and thats not bad either. It really helped me in finding my problems.
Can acid and stomach problems cause asthma? She had a lot of acid showing at night, and she coughs a lot a night. What is a good approach to help this so she isn't dependent on medication?
Ph and esophageal motility test - Are there any pictures or illustrations available that show the path the tube takes once it is in the nose to get to the stomach?
YOU THEN LIE ON THIS SCANNING TABLE AND THEY CAN SEE HOW FAST THIS **** EMPTIES FROM YOUR STOMACH. THEY SAY THAT IF THE FOOD SITS IN YOUR STOMACH TOO LONG IT CAN CONTRIBUTE TO REFLUX. IF THIS IS THE CASE, OF COURSE THEY RECOMMEND MORE DRUGS TO SPEED UP THE EMPTYING. I HAVE ALREADY DECIDE THAT I REFUSE TO TAKE THESE ****** DRUGS. FIX THE REFLUX, I SAY. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAD THE SURGERY, WERE YOU EVER OFFERED AN ALTERNATIVE INTERMEDIATE, LESS INVASIVE PROCEDURE????
(Come to think of it, I should have tested Apple Cider Vinegar to see if I spotted any sort of pattern with it, whether it really does turn alkaline once in the stomach or not.) My pH (from the readings I saw) ranged from 1.9 to 8.6, with the vast majority of the time being between 4.2 and 7.5, depending on what I'd eaten or drank recently. Breads/cereals seemed to make me very acidy and most likely to reflux, usually an hour after ingestion.
My arms and legs would get like jello and weak and i just felt like i was in slow motion walking around. I started getting a bloated feeling in my upper stomach that would go into my chest and cause chest pressure and fullness. I have had chest X-ray and mdi of brain and cervical spine all came back normal.
the md's scheduled him for LP and transfusion of plts. while there the results of the PH chromosome came in and was negative. they proceeded to put a form of chemo in his spine...do not know what that was mom didn't ask. So basically as I see it he has weeks to months left unless he goes experimental...can you guys confirm this prognosis and what coud be the chemo they injected intrathecally?
My gastroenterologist is not satisfied with results of the medication thus far. He wants to perform a Bravo ph test. Are you familiar with this test? Is it done with the patient under sedation? The doctor I have been seeing does not use sedation for this procedure. Can you give me a little information on this procedure. If you are familiar with the Bravo procedure, and do use sedation, how well do think patients would tolerate this without sedation?
Baking soda at a dose of 1/4-1/2 tsp AM and Pm on an empty stomach with a-2 tsp lemon juice will raise urine, tissue as well as blood ph rather quickly. I have been taking it for about two weeks now and testing my saliva with ph strips and have seen my ph raise from 6 to 7-7.5.
Go to health food store and buy pH test strips...it should read 7.3.. If acidic, take Wheat Grass supplements. Check web for alkalizing foods.
Hi , has anyone had a Bravo ph test? I am scheduled to have one done 2 weeks before a trip to disney world with my whole family and I don't want anything to stand in my way to ruin it. I am very leary of invasive test since I had a ercp that left me hospitalized for 26 days with severe pancreatitis. Anyone who can calm me on this issue please do so .... the nurse anyone help ... A while back (almost a year ago) I had a Bravo 48hr Ph test done. Today I went to my gastroenterologist and while we discussed the results before, we delved deeper into their meaning today. After getting some numbers, I became more confused (after some post-visit research) because according to the test I'm not really supposed to have heartburn (opening the possibility of other esophageal issues). Here are the numbers: - DeMeester score: 8.9 (<14.
I would consider an upper endoscopy to exclude ulcers or inflammation of the stomach. Further evaluation of the stomach acidity can be done with a 24-hr pH study. This test can be discussed with a GI consultant. I agree with the omeprazole that you are currently taking. I often get a cold feeling in my stomach, usually when I have a hangover, but sometimes while I'm drinking or shortley after drinking I get the cold feeling, it usually doesnt really bother me, but when ever I burp is when it becomes crippling, I'm guessing this is caused from drinking straight alcohol, I also smoke cigarettes, drink energy drinks, and eat fast food here and there, I know I'm not living the healthiest lifestyle, but for now, what can sure my cold stomach.
Dear Doctor, I have written here before, but will give a brief recap. In late Sept., had sudden onset of severe reflux symptoms [burning in esophagus and throat]. Went through all ppi's -- double dosages -- and changed diet, with no relief. Had endoscopy [h pylori was negative; no ulcers; no hiatal hernia; mild gastritis; mild esophagitis]. 24 hour ph test was normal; manometry study was normal.
I have been struggling with stomach issues. I had my gallbladder out 3 months ago after a bout with pancreatitis. Since then I have had 2 problems. First is constant nausea. It is especially bad in the morning but is there pretty much all day. The second is that every 2 weeks or so I get unbearable pain in my stomach between the bottom of my rib cage and belly button. The pain lasts between 20 and 60 minutes.
The Doctor told me that the top part of my stomach is paralyzed and will not expand to accept food. 1) What tests should be done? 2) What treatment is possible? 3) Is this due to damage of the vagus nerve? I had gall bladder surgery. I am on previcid. PH test showed constant reflux.
During my weight loss and stomach , heartburn problems these past 6 months and now on "Choice" for nutrional support. Have you been directed as well ? My Ph test is Thursday. I drank carrott, celery juice for the vitamins as well.
I have been having stomach problems for about 2 years and i cant take it anymore. It is just getting worse. i had my gall bladder taken out 1.5 years ago and am still not better. Now i am vomitting up stomach acid and have diahhrea. I feel like i can't eat anything and i don't know what is wrong with me. Sometimes if feels like someone is reaching in my stomach and squeezing really hard for about 10 seconds and then letting go.
It gets worse when i lay down, i can feel the bubbles or air in my stomach and it sounds like watery and air moving around in my stomach. then if ive been laying down or sleeping for a while, when i first get up, the gurgling acts up. The gurgling subsides a bit when i sit normally but i can never just lay down and relax when my stomach is acting up when i do lay down. Any suggestions?
i have stomach bloating and bad stomach pains. stomach gets very hot and hard but I have no fever, feels like my insides are cooking.
I started having a burning gnawing feeling in the middle of my stomach right below the breastbone and belching alot. I went to the dr and she did blood workup and a H pylori test which all came back normal and said I probably had too much acid in my stomach. Put me on prevacid, took that for 5 weeks and it did nothing.
Several years ago I started having constant pain in the center of my stomach just below my rib cage and a feeling of fullness. The doctor did not perform any test, but put me on Prevacid. The problem went away, so I assumed I had GERD. Over the last couple of years the pain has returned. It is now as bad as before the medication, with the med. On the rare occassions I have let myself run out of meds, the pain is very intense. I have not felt the least bit hungry in at least 6 months.
