I have had pain and extreme tenderness in an area just below the sternum for about 2 years. It starts at the base of the sternum just where the stomach starts and seems to extend about two inches down towards the stomach. The pain seems to radiate into my left chest wall and causes a feeling of tightness. My doctor has told me to ignore it and it would go away. Easy for him to say right? Does anyone know what could cause this?

It hurts worse when I'm getting hungry but scared to eat to much cause I been getting this feeling that I need to throw up everyone I eat a little too much. I used to be Abe to eat rice and pasta but now can't seem to digest it. It seems to get stuck around my upper rib area and then I eventually end up throwing my dinner up. On June 1st I weighed 203. As of today, October 19th, I weigh 162.
Well yes, muscle strain, too much work load, bad posture etc can all cause pain in the spinal area below the shoulder blades. However do get a MRI of the area done to rule out any bone problem or pinched nerves. Gastric reflux and pancreatitis too can cause pain more near a point under the left shoulder blade. Omeprazole is a good drug to combat gastric reflux. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. Avoid heavy meals.
I have been having "attacks" of pain just below my ribs in the middle of my chest, wrapping around to my back. I feel like I cannot breathe and it feels like my ribs are compressing my lungs. I've been experiencing a sharp burning pain located just below my sternum on both side of my chest. The pain then expands through my chest and and middle/upper back, neck and shoulder areas. When this happens, i can't slump over or curl up (which is my normal response to pain), because the pain just intensifys. It forces my to sit straight, when i do that, i get extremely dizzy and sick. After about 10-15 minutes the pain begins to fade away. what could be causing this?

Hi All, for about 5 months now I've been baraged by a series of different symptoms (these have been getting worse), including dizziness, stomach pain, chest pain, shortness of breath and feeling like I'm going to faint. I feel dizzy all day. Get stomach (feels like acid reflux) and chest pains that worsen at night and sometimes feel like I'm going to faint, most often when I'm out. I have fibrocystic breast and even at the very top of my chest just below the collar bone it hurts and it is fibrocystic breast. It is very tender to the touch. But does it hurt without touching it, like inside your bones? If so, you can get a bone scan to make sure there is nothing going on. I have had one and it can't hurt. They may take a Xray first instead of doing the bone scan. GERD is more in the stomach, or esophagus or in the chest area sometimes. It is not usually felt in the bone.
) the docs keep putting it down to anxiety or stress (the chest pains) and the stomach pains down to IBS. The stomach pains can be severe as can the chest pains, i've been taking Colofac 135mg three times a day for the stomach lately, it is always taken before meals which to be fair helps a little (dulls the pain) but it is still there. and doesn't go completely. The chest pains are slowly less painful but again still there.
Can the hernia and/or weak valve cause chest pain located just below the left breast or in between the breasts?
