Try avoiding ALL dairy. I have found a sudden intolerance to dairy which leads to gas and severe stomach pain. I too have IBS and stress is a major factor. I have found I can control the stomach pain (for the most part) if I avoid stress and stay completely way from the dairy.
First it is entirely possible to get afib via gas bloat and other stomach and digestive tract disorders. If your stomach and digestive tract is as described then you must have inflamation. All this inflamation and bloat and gas will push up on your diaphram and surrounding areas and cause great discomfort and pain but also can press upon nerves.
Also, as far as a stool sample, I think they prefer you DON'T have diarrhea. I recently had some lab tests at the Mayo Clinic and because I was coming off of a stomach bug I had to wait for the stool sample until I was passing normally again! Wow, too much information!! Good luck and I hope you get some answers soon!

I pray that mayo can help identify why I am sick so often and why I have stomach pain but to be honest I don't expect much since no one else could help me. I woke this morning feeling pretty good and don't know why. made a trip to the bathroom and now I feel sick again or was it the eggs I ate for breakfast trying to digest. I don't know. Thank you Clysta and I hope you have better days in front of you.
But I wanted to ask one question of you all. Just before expelling the gas I have a short sharp pain in lower abdomen that lasts only a short time but there appears to be a build up to the pain. Thanks in advance for responding.

Everything has been great and I have no regrets having the surgery, however for the past few months I have developed a stomach pain and I have an appointment next week. I seem to have heartburn, gas, and pains so bad that I want to cry. I am at a point right now that food is what seems to trigger the attacks, so I am not eating. I hope to know more by next week, but so far I am concerned because from the posts, it seems as though doctors cannot explain these pains.....

2 weeks ago I decided to get complete check-up out to rule out cancer etc..and visited the Mayo Clinic. I had a colonoscopy (normal), Blood tests (good), Checked for Celiacs disease (no), CT scan upper intestines (normal). The only off reading was my eosinophil count that was 13. I The tests we performed in successive days (Wed, Thurs, Fri). The last two weeks have produced an entire new set of complaints.
He actually had night sweats as well as the stomach pain and diareaha. We went to many doctors because it wouldn't let up and it was very painful to him. Finally we went to the Mayo Clinic in MN and they said he had some nerve damage and small ulcers in his stomach.
It sounds like gas is traveling through intestines and she could feel it through the tissue also. The pain is constant but also hits in waves and spasms. When I tell doctors, specialists also, they tell me there is no reason I should be having pain or the have no idea why I am having pain. They have the attitude that I am making it up and am only looking for drugs.
Now I too is experiencing flutteries in my stomach and lower back pain. I have taken test they all come back negative. Although there is possibly I could be pregnant cause we are trying again. But I have lost my insurance to get my meds that the doctor prescribe to me. And I can't go to the doctor for this cause I don't have insurance. So I don't know what to do now. I'm scared...Getting depressed...Don't know what to do about this...
Went to Mayo Clinic to evaulate for this. Mayo told my I had it but that the nausea and the dizzy spell I had were not being caused by the Autonomic Neuropathy. They were able to determine by my leak of sweating in my lower extermeties. It ws not until this year when I started vomitting and not being able to stand for more than 5 minutes at a time that the Dr. finally took my bp and pulse while laying, sitting and standing. Needless to say my bp went from 138/80 to 100/?
The pain begins severe stomach cramps which come and then go come again and then go ever incraesing in pain until i am literally rolling around on the floor. The pain then reaches boiling point when i have to make a run for the bathroom (not ideal considering i am a teacher and this means having to grab someone to cover me IMMEDIATELY) once in the bathroom i have the most outrageous sweats i normally have to strip off as i get soaking wet again not great when in your place of work.
I am taking any pain medication I can to numb it. of couse, that's not good for my stomach, but the pain is bad for me too, eh? he has me on smooth muscle relaxants. they don't do a thing. about two months ago, I started feeling queasy, almost like I was pregnant, but I'm not. that went away, though, after a couple of weeks. so that might have been something else (maybe upping my prilosec?).
I hadn't had any pain for a couple of months but now I have back pain between the shoulders, stomach pain right below the sternum and even more severe belching, all of which seem to come in 'waves' or episodes that last seconds and occur with varying frequency. Can anyone relate? How long did it take for the pain to go away!?
Make you worry that if for sure! Finally went to the Mayo Clinic in 2008 to see if they could tell me anything. After 3 days they wound up telling me that when a piece of metal (stent) is inserted to that area of our bodies, the brain immediately begins sending signals back and forth to the brain..."hey..foreign material here" types of signals back and forth from the location of the stent back to the brain.
I have been having the same thing the last few days and it's really bothering me. Mine is also the right side of my navel almost in the inside wall area. I thought I felt a small lump the other day but then when I tried to find it I couldn't. I also get that bloated stomach feeling but I'm not bloated at all and it's not "gas" as someone suggested, it's just the random pain when I sit down and bend at the stomach, or turn like someone else mentioned.
On Monday this week I was told by and Endocrinologists that if he were in my shoes he would go to one of 2 places MAYO clinic in MN or to see a Dr. Drachman out of the Harvard. He feels the nausea is related to a vestibular problem. He has written Chapters for the MAYO clinic text on Autonomic Nueropathy in '99. He did not feel that is what I have, however he did say he would feel bad if they came back and said that was the cause. He was also surprised the reglan was working for me.
Gastritis Stomach ulcers Hiatal hernia Stomach cancer Stomach polyps – pain is more likely in large masses.
I started feeling better for a couple of days and then all of a sudden, my top 3 incisions started bothering me again as well as the URQ pain and the mid stomach pain. My incisions have red blotches around them and the are painful, I cannot sit up straight because it puts too much pressure on the incisions! I called my sugeon and he says it is not normal, but he doesnt know what it could be?
Do you live near a major university hospital (Cleveland Clinic, Univ. of Chicago, Northwestern, Mayo, etc.)? It might be worth it to take your records and have them evaluate you.
I went to the doctors also and no one or nothing helped ease the pain. I finally found a massage therapist at a pain clinic who helped me. I still have some pain but it is managable now.
I'm starting to suspect my spleen as well. I just applied for an appointment at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, so if you haven't got your situation straightened out, perhaps I can share my own experience with you! Have you had any blood tests done, specifically liver panels? I've found that all of my tests reveal an elevated indirect bilirubin and high lipase. (Not sure if this has anything to do with the pain, but they can reflect problems with the spleen, which is where the pain is.
After standing up and walking around the pain noticebly improves. In the last few days I have noticed the pain starting to radiate to my lower left abdomin. I dont seem to have any lumps on my testicles. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks.
Also my Doc's nurse says pain is just a state of mind..........My pain is very REAL!! Is this normal? How long should i be on pain meds?

I was in such pain, my stomach was bloated, and I felt toxic all the time. I'm 50, and I thought that I was pretty much done with my life. I even, stupidly, took a pregnancy test because those flutters felt like when I was pregnant! My husband thought I was crazy, but was damn nervous during that test...of course it was negative. Then my friend, who is an OB/GYN, and into holistic medicine turned me onto Dr. Hulda Clarks site.
