I am over the moon excited that DH got a 5-10 day appointment at Mayo Clinic - Dec. 10. Anyone have any experiences on what to expect etc?

I think that my digestive system got tight and has problems from the SIBO I had last year that was diagnosed by the mayo clinic. The Mayo Clinic says the SIBO is gone, but has most likely left me with these other problems that I am seeking treatment from the Mayo Clinic right now. Hope these new treatments work for me and hope this information might help you.

Some here on the board are not real pleased with the Mayo clinic. It seems they have their own set of standards to give out a dx of MS. I personally know nothing about them and wish you the best....hoping for that answer.

I have dumping syndrome without ever having surgery. I had the motility test done at Mayo Clinic, Rochester to confirm. I've seen lots of Doctors and they basically say I'll never know the cause. I used to wake up at 2am with a tight stomach and back pain. Felt like trapped air. Went to Mayo Clinic got an upper endoscopy and Got diagnosed with SIBO. Gave me anti-biotic to get stop the bacterial overgrowth. Still have burping after meals and bloating after meals and am checking for other things wrong, but it is greatly reduced got treated for SIBO. Make sure they actually check for SIBO MN Gastro did not check for this and missed it the first time.

I have had CIDP for four years, and have been seen by the Mayo Clinic in Florida and by Northwestern Memorial Hospital. None of the doctors can give me anything for the pain that I have in my legs and feet. Is there anything that I can do to help with the pain.

I've not been to the Jacksonville Mayo or the MS clinic in Houston, I'm sorry about that. I have heard a lot of good things about the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and Dr. Elliot Frohman who works there. I'm sure if you google his name you can find out much more than I can tell you about, here.

Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic are obviously both top-flight medical centers, so the choice between the two would not be so much "which is better, Cleveland or Mayo;" it would be which one has a doctor or program that is more specialized to what you need.

I hope someone will help me in this regards. The pain doctor is all for me going to the Mayo clinic. In fact he was urging me to go. I have an appointment with the pain clinic in August, so if I haven't heard from the Mayo then, I will have the referral sent.

Maybe I was too harsh about Mayo. To be fair to Mayo Clinic, I do think they do have some very good doctors there, maybe it's just hard to get a neuro diagnosis - as it seems to be most other places in this country - so what's new? I did really think the Mayo radiologist who looked at my films was excellent - he found a couple of things the original outside radiologist did not notice such as brain mass loss.

Had a spinal fusion @ Mayo Clinic back in 1982 and as of the past 5-6 years have had an issue with numbness, nerve pain down my right leg and into my foot (L4-L5) impingement. It no longer flairs up, since the Gabapentin Rx. I'm on 300mg/3 x/day and it's been a game changer. Best of luck to you. Some times I can push on a spot on my back, burp and then feel some relief for a small bit of time, until the pain comes back. I am also regurgitating food. The Mayo Clinic just diagnosed me with Rumination Syndrome. They say it is related to the gas that gets trapped. Told me to do deep breathing exercises to try to relax tense muscles in my stomach that are causing me problems with food and gas that feels trapped in my stomach until I am able to burp.

Truthfully, I've heard one of the best MS Clinics in the US is the Mellen Center at Cleveland Clinic. You might try checking out http://www.mscare.org They list all the clinics available, etc. My neuro said the clinic at Cincinatti isn't that great but thinks Cleveland Clinic is really good. I've never heard of the Mayo Clinic being highly rated for MS, but more for heart desease.

I am looking into Sanoviv hospital instead of Mayo clinic. I know people personally who have gone there and gotten fixed. One of my close friends has thyroid issues and hep C and went there. She has more energy than a teen. First thing they did was put her on Westhroid and spent 3 days running diagnostic tests. They give you a panel of doctors who all work together in your diagnostics and treatment. I am saving up to go there....

Hello, everyone. I have been "diagnosed" with Chiari via the radiologist that viewed my MRI. I have my first appointment with Mayo tomorrow. The neurologist that originally ordered the MRI had no idea what Chiari was, so I'm trying out Mayo. I am going to the clinic in Jacksonville Florida - have any of you gone? Do you have any experience, good or bad, with them? I have waited SO LONG to get to this appointment.

They put me on aciphex and did a gastoscopy , finding just an irritated stomach lining . Ever since then I have had nothing but tons of epigastric pain and into my back . They switched me to protonix 40mg twice a day but I have minimal relief . Also had my gallbladder removed about 4 yrs ago . Any ideas ? Please Help !!!

The treatment plan was MRI and colonoscopy. I leave Arizona mail clinic in extreme pain with my liver and stomach swollen. I have been diagnosed with metabolism. My stool and P is turning yellow. My liver has stressed my body to the point I am starting to have A fib and heart problems. I don't expect to live another year. I decided that I should travel to the United States and hopefully get a diagnosis. I know that Mayo clinic and Cleveland clinic have a good dysautonomia clinics but I don't know which one should I choose so I would appreciate any suggestions !!! Also I know healthcare in the US is so expensive and since I don't have insurance I wonder how much such a visit to one of those hospitals will roughly cost ?I know it's hard to tell but I'm asking for a roughly cost.
