Stomach pain after smoking

Common Questions and Answers about Stomach pain after smoking

stomach-pain

Hi, I quit smoking cold turkey last November after reading a book called Allen Carr's Easyway to quit smoking. It was the final thing that pushed me over the edge to finally quit. The book is great, and it lets you smoke while you read it. It deals with the mental aspect of nicotine addiction, because believe it or not, the physical isn't really the problem, even though it feels like it. Anyways, before I read that book, I had tried quitting at least 30 times, no joke.
i quit oc's c/t maybe i could quit smoking c/t lets see what could i replace smoking with? lol....thats seems to be my problem.......
Can anyone describe in as much detail as possible what kind of pain or symptoms (if any) they felt after quitting smoking? I have felt this gnawing pain and sometimes sharp pain like being poked with a needle in my stomach somewhere during the time I quit smoking. I can't tell if it is from quitting or a symptom of something else. I know I should go see a doctor but I am so low on money w/ no insurance. Please help. Thanks in advance.
I have a really bad pain in the upper part of my stomach. I also hear a churning and I have gas with this. Is this a gall bladder problem? This discussion is related to Lump in throat, occasional upper stomach pains, pale stool.

I went to the er twice because the pain was so bad and they did a sonogram & a mri checking my stomach and gallbladder and liver they said everything checked out. Then when i went to see my doc for a re-check she tells me just dont eat because me stomach is so swollen, i was like ok...

I'm 18 years old. Have been having stomach pain for the last 6 month. I get it every time I eat anything, it doesn't matter what it is. I'd describe it as lightheaded, dizziness, I almost feel "high". And after those symptoms pass, they are followed by constant stomach churning and gurgling, and it's painful. I barely have an appetite anymore, I've lost 30 pounds or so since this has started, I'm not a shy eater so I'm very confused why this is happening out of the blue!
Its almost three years now that im experiencing stomach pain in the lower right ribs, bloatedness and gas pain. I have undergone ultrasound of the whole abdomen, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopy. Was diagnosed to be suffering from esophagitis. Been into medication for a month but it did not improved. I have consulted a number of doctor from nephrologist even neurologist, some are saying it might be because of stress. But until now it did improved but rather getting worse that before.
I have been having upper middle stomach pain right below breast and top of rib cage. The pain is like a dull burning sensation that comes and goes. May last 15 minutes to an hour. My mid back also has a dull ache at the same time. Usually laying flat on my stomach tends to relieve the pain some. It does occur after eating sometime but not with any particular food. It could be cereal or steak it does not seem to matter. I do not have any nausea or fever.
I'm not sure if this fully describes what is wrong with me. The stomach pain includes a dull, achy pain that is constant, but gets worse with stress, caffeine, alcohol or certain foods. I think the pain causes me to eat more because it is almost like a hunger pain. It's so bizarre to feel full and still have the stomach pain I experience because I feel full and hungry at the same time. When I first started having these pains, I weighed 172 lbs and stood at 6'0.
i have chronic stomach pain on my left side into my back area, after i eat it gets worse,it cramps and i have to go to the restroom after i go 2 or 3 times there is a little releif. but my stool is very loose and runny. a light color but no blood. i have lost about 10 lbs. over 3 month period. i do not drink but i do smoke.my stomach hurts alot.
its getting pretty ******* bad i cant handle this stomach pain...i talked to a counselor and he said smokin had worse withdrawals then slamming it...and he slammed for 39 years.
I have been 3 full days of withdrawals (diarreah, headaches, back pain, sleeplessness, shaking leg, stomach pain, and anxiety) I can tell that today was a little better than the last two..but I've been fighting thru it and want to beat it...I was smoking 1-3 30mg roxys per day...how long will I feel like crap, not be able to sleep, and just being plain out miserable...
Things that have helped me is quitting smoking, after smoking for five five years almost everyday I quit cold turkey. I thought I would never quit smoking. I also quit smoking cigs which is partly why I have headaches, I hope. I have had headaches for almost a full month now, and do not know why. I hope and pray there is nothing wrong with me because it would ruin me, I just hope I can bounce back somehow. You are not alone man....
I get severe burning in my stomach, chest pain in the middle of the night, pain down the left side of my arm, nausea and headache when they are acting up.
Hey everyone, I'm a 50 yr old female and on last Thursday night, I had this really terrible pain in my stomach (mid-upper area above belly button). After I woke up the pain subsided but kept on persisting. It's been 5 days with persistent pain with that horrible pain coming and going. My stomach also feels and appears to be bloated and yet, it also feels like it's empty at times. I also have been feeling a bit nauseous; I keep hearing growling too. I haven't had any problems with stools though.
It gets worse after food or any drink that isnt water sometimes I burp and it hurts in my chest and I burp up stomach acid.. My stomach is bloated most of the time.. wearing a girdle seems to ease my symptoms also.. My grandmother has a peptic ulcer, I dont know if thats hereditary, I have a couple sousins who take medicine for IBS also.. Im just wondering if anyone knows what these symptoms are and if they are related to the medicine or the diet or if it might be a medical condition..
I took it for 3 days- 2 days off- and then 1 pill for a day. The day I took the 1 pill, I had upper stomach pain. It wasn't severe or really very bad. It was just there enough to notice it. Does that mean it's the start of an ulcer or is it just a side effect?
They commonly occur in the stomach and duodenum. Stomach ulcers cause pain on eating and duodenal ulcers cause pain on fasting (2-3 hrs after eating). Peptic ulcers are eroded areas in the lining of the digestive tract usually in the stomach and duodenum. The two common causes for this are: infection with helicobacter pylori and use of nonsteroidal anti inflammatory medications (NSAID).
You will need to take a combination of medications (under medical supervision) like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried. Many a times a persisting H pylori infection can be the cause behind acidity not responding to treatment.
Also is there anything i can do to alleviate the stomach pain without taking painkillers as i dont want to irritate my stomach any further.
34 m...Last night i was woken up by sudden severe pain in my stomach, the pain was so sudden and intense that i couldn,t get up from bed or crawl across t my antacid, when i eventually did the pain gradually subsided within a few mins. No nausea, I felt i was going to pass out. This is the 2nd episode. 1st time d pain was so much i passed out and pee"d on myself. I get relief from antacid and go back to sleep.
I quit smoking 2 weeks ago after smoking for over 10 years. Since then I have had increasing chest pain, shortness of breath, and a nasty taste at the back of my throat which causes me to retch sometimes. I try to cough up some mucas but I'm never able to. I also suffer from panic attacks and anxiety which doesn't help. Yesterday, I really struggled to get a breath and had chest pains and went to hospital. The ECG showed abnormal and they thought I had a clot on my lung.
Went to the ballet with my girlfriend on Friday, a month after taking LSD and the same thing stomach pain and anxiety. This has lasted to today, Monday. Im finding it really hard to eat food and have constant stomach pain and anxiety. Went back to the doc and he gave me more valium for the anxiety but is not concerned about my stomach issue. Got some blood work done today so hopefully this will help. Im not sure if the stomach pain is causing my anxiety or the other way round.
Experienced the usual not so fun and pretty gross stuff that go along with any stomach flu. During these couple of days, I couldn't eat and the throught of smoking or drinking coffee totally repulsed me. As I got better from the flu symptoms, I realized that it had been 4 days that I didn't smoke. I thought why not take advantage of this time and continue to quit smoking for good. My list of symtoms from the first to the third week was quite lengthy.
