Avatar m tn Research studies suggest that having contact with the stool or vomit of an infected person can spread H. pylori infection. And H. pylori has been found in the saliva of some infected people, which means infection could be spread through direct contact with saliva. Some people get no symptoms from the bacteria. Yet ulcers in some people can be caused by the bacteria. This is why people with ulcers are usually checked for the bacteria and treated with antibiotics.
Avatar f tn I would ask to be tested for a Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. Not everyone has symptoms with a H. Pylori infection but if symptoms do occur they may include an ache or burning pain in the abdomen, nausea, vomiting, frequent burping, bloating, weight loss. The Urea breath test is considered as the gold standard test in the diagnosis of H. pylori infection. It has been shown that eosinophils increase in the stomach in H. pylori infection.
Avatar n tn It has been 4 months later and I wake one morning with the severe stomach pain truly feeling like i am dying I have blood work done and it is positive for H. Pylori again. My question is how often can I expect this reoccur and is this common? When I have a flair up of this I am in bed for at least three days and nearly dehydrate . What are your thoughts ?
1969859 tn?1325813286 H pylori is an infection of the lining of the stomach that can cause inflammation and ulcers in the stomach, resulting in abdominal pain and nausea. It is actually quite common. In the presence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD, or heartburn), it can certainly be associated with chest pain, because of extension of the acidic contents of the stomach into the esophagus, which is in the chest. It doesn't cause chest pain associated with the heart.
Avatar n tn Upper abdominal bloating is often from H. pylori infection of the stomach. Diagnosis is by a breath test for H. pylori. Pain under right ribs may again be from gas, or from gallbladder - mostly from gallstones. First test is an ultrasound. AVOID SUGARS (glucose = sweets, fructose = fruits) and these muesli which all result in a lot of gas.
Avatar n tn If they tested for the presence to antibodies in the blood to H. pylori, and you've had an H. pylori infection in the past, the blood test would come up positive in that test. If a biopsy whas then taken - after the infection had been cleared up - the biopsy would show negative. If a person has had an H. pylori infection in the past and has been treated, the 'best' way of checking if the bacteria is still present is via a breath test.
Avatar f tn t mention whether or not you had any testing done to make sure you had a bacterium - which I presume would be H. pylori? - in your stomach before you took the antibiotics. Was that test done? And if so, were you tested after taking the antibiotics to check if the bacteria was gone? You need to go back to your doctor and be re-evaluated since the symptoms continue and you're now having new ones.
Avatar f tn Today I finished my 2 week treatment for h pylori. But I'm still having some stomac pain as well alot of stomach gurgling. Does that mean that I still have h pylori and the antibiotics didn't work?
Avatar m tn Yes H-Pylori can cause bad chest pain, the pain is coming from the esophigus, which is just to the left of the center of your chest, if you are certain you have H-Pylori, the pain is caused by excess stomach acid, you need to get treated as H-Pylori is a nasty bacteria, it lays dorment in most people and is held in check by your stomachs good bacteria, although when you take an Anti-biotic treatment for an infection, it kills off the good bacteria and H-Pylori takes over and if left untrated fo
Avatar m tn Hello Everyone, I am 38 years old, I have been suffering from the IBS for few years now, but I was able to manage the symptoms so far, until last year when I started feeling heartburn, after consulting with an internist I was diagnosed positive for H Pylori(UBT Test), the doctor advised to treat it using triple therapy(Pantazol 40mg, Ospamox 1000mg, Avalox 400mg) for seven days, I managed to take it only for 4 days, then I agreed with the doctor to stop it because I was having very strong side e
Avatar n tn s probably a H. pylori infection of your stomach. H. pylori produces gas and increases acidity of the stomach. Sticky stools (do they smell badly?) and pain in liver area speaks for liver or gallbladder disease. So, I think you should have: 1. Breath test for H. pylori. 2. Ultrasound of abdomen to check liver and gallbladder.
Avatar m tn You will need to take a combination of medications (under medical supervision) like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried. Many a times a persisting H pylori infection can be the cause behind acidity not responding to treatment.
Avatar m tn Thanks doctor, I finished the triple therapy. My stomach is still a little wrecked however my stool is back to normal.
Avatar n tn hi, its up to you whether you want to eradicate the infection or not, personallly i would because the h-pylori infection is the major culprit in esaphagul, stomach, duodenol ulcers, and if ulcers are left without treatment then more likely than not that they will turn cancerous. some people who are newly infected dont see symptoms immediately, also you being anemic might be because an ulcer has began to ooz blood.other disorders associated with h-pylori are barrets and gastritis, cheers.
Avatar f tn Before cancer, you should think about H. pylori infection of your stomach. It's a simple breath test, which confirms it, treatment is with antibiotics (1-2 weeks). Morning nausea, bloating and burping are characteristic for H. pylori infection, so think first about this.
Avatar m tn How long have you had the H-Pylori,any idea? H-Pylori is responsible for stomach ulcers, did you have an endoscopy that determined the H-Pylori Bacterial Infection?
Avatar f tn I was wondering if pain and swelling in fingers are related to H. Pylori infection? I researched and found that it is a less common symptom but I don't know for sure since my doc. said it was unrelated. I also researched and found out that treatment doesn't always work!!! I just want my life back, I'm only 31 but I feel like 70!!!
Avatar n tn Just because you have continuing pain after H. pylori treatment it may not mean the H. pylori is still present. H. pylori is implicated in the development of gastritis, and your pain may be coming from that. You may want to check for the presence of H. pylori with a breath test, which is a more definitive way of finding out whether or not it's still there after the use of antibiotics.
Avatar n tn If your pain is in the MIDDLE upper abdomen, then it's probably from H. pylori infection. You need a breath test for H. pylori, if positive, you get antibiotics.
Avatar n tn Have a H. pylori test. These bacteria produce gas in the stomach, bloating, stomach burning, belching and heartburn.
Avatar n tn mild pain in the upper left side of the stomach down to the side. Worse after i take spiced food. What is it?
Avatar f tn If your throat pain is like heartburn (acidic burning feeling), and if you burp and have burning stomach, this is probably from H. pylori infectionof the stomach. Diagnosis is with the breath test, treatment is with antibiotics.
Avatar m tn Stress and physical exertion will immediately exacerbate the abdominal gnawing pain I began investigating H. Pylori and was immediately taken aback. The symptoms of infection with H. Pylori are exactly what I'm suffering with. I finally involved my doctor who seemed to dismiss H. Pylori because I have tested negative in the past which is ridicules. I went home with a script for Pepcid and I have an abdominal ultrasound on May 12.
Avatar m tn The endoscope proved that I am infected with gastritis and small irritations in the stomach. It was caused by H pylory infection, I am not infected with H pylory now because I treated it three years ago and the latest tests prove that I am not infected with the H pylory. The doctor advised me to use Motilium 10mg three times a day 30 minutes before meal for two months, and Librax two times a day for two weeks.
Avatar f tn There is a strong and definite link between H. pylori infection and the development of stomach cancer. What should be clarified is that having H.pylori infection does not automatically increase your risk for stomach cancer. If the infection is promptly treated and eradicated, your risk will not be increased. Only when the infection becomes persistent is the risk for subsequent cancer increased. Having lingering symptoms of heart burn/ reflux do not necessarily indicate that the H.
Avatar m tn They are giving him protonix, omeprazole, carafat, and phenegran. For some reason they seem to think its h-pylori even though the tests were negative. They are sure its a bacterial infection..but can't seem to get the vomiting under control..oh they are giving morphine for pain. Does anyone have any suggestions or similar symptoms...he has been hospitalized at Rady's Childrens Hosp. since Friday, almost a week. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...
Avatar n tn What is an H. pylori infection and where does one get such a thing?
