Avatar f tn Did you get the shot at your dr office I got mine at my drs office they gave me a flu shot that didn't have the flu in the vaccine did they tell you what was in the vaccine?
Avatar f tn What some people fail to realize is that the flu shot does not protect you from the stomach flu! The real flu attacks your respiratory system. Which is far worse. And didn't the guy that "proved" that vaccines cause autism, was found out to be a liar? That he faked some of his research and results? Everyone has theirthoughts. I will be getting the flu shot and my child will be getting vaccines.
Avatar n tn I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and just found out I have the flu. My OB put me on Tamiflu but my primary said she wasn't sure about it. Has anyone been on this while pregnant? I'm worried it's going to hurt the baby. Also it did get the flu vaccine, I was only a couple weeks pregnant so I didn't know but I'm a little mad they push a vaccine that obviously doesn't work.
2085202 tn?1373199740 Hello, can't really find a group for this topic on MH. Thought this was the best bet. I've been getting alot of bad stomach pain lately. I've also had the flu. Can the flu actually cause this stomach pain? It feels like the after effects of getting punched in the stomach. Don't like it. Someone told me it's due to all the drainage, post nasal drip. Def. getting alot of body aches too. Had recent bloodwork and it all came back normal. Doc put me on azythromyicin antibiotics.
Avatar f tn Iny opinion there are very few (if any) con's to getting the flu vaccine. The flu vaccine doesn't need to be "tested" every year because it is the same exact vaccine, they just change the strains of the virus that it protects against. The flu vaccine will also not make you sick. It is biologically impossible. You can feel a little run down as your immune system is working hard to build antibodies but the myth that it gives you the flu is exactly that, just a myth.
Avatar n tn Sounds like a flu or bug. Call you Dr but mine had me go see my primary care for flu. They didn't give me meds but I did get excused from work. They also ruled out everything else.
Avatar n tn You might want to check out the 149 comments on the "Tingling after swine flu vaccine" before getting vaccinated. I think all of us there would rather have NOT had the vaccine and boosted our immune system health with vitamins, minerals and herbs, moderate exercise, etc. instead. Just make an informed decision.
Avatar f tn Definitely call one of them and they can do a rapid flu test....yes you can still get the flu, even after getting the vaccine...keep hydrated and keep any fever down....but call ME!! Good luck!!
Avatar m tn There are different variations of the flu virus and the vaccine every year is changed to kill off the 3 most prevalent flu viruses that is thought may be prevalent in the year. There is no guarantee that you would not have got a flu virus even if you did get the flu shot. Taking a lot of Ibuprofen is not a very good idea. I trust you have been following the directions on the packet how to take this medicine.
454221 tn?1259445739 t go out in public at all any more and last week some how I caught a stomach virus I thought was the flu at first. I guess my husband brought it home to me but he was never sick. It just showed me how easy it is to catch something even if you are extremely careful. It helped with my decision to get the vaccine. Sorry for the book! I hope you feel better. It sounds like you are getting close to your little ones arrival with the pains! What ever you feel you should do, do it.
792540 tn?1285186997 I already got the Swine Flu Vaccine. My doctor told me that i needed to get it because the risk of getting Swine Flu was higher than the risk of the shot. So many pregnant women have died from the Swine FLu so i got scared and preferred being protected. Hope this helps you make your decision!
Avatar n tn I'm 33 years old and as a child and teen I can rememeber getting the stomach flu at least once a year but as I got into my late 20's I didn't seem to get the stomach flu every year. But I had at last winter and I just got over it again today. I was up all night vomiting (yellow/greenish mucus) but not any food. It just lasted 24 hours but I still took off work a 2nd day to recuperate. My question is, is it common for an adult to get the stomach flu once a year?
Avatar f tn Contact ur Dr asap and let him check u to see if it is the flu or a reaction to the vaccine. Do not wait...whenever u have a reaction to meds or vaccines u need to inform ur dr.
Avatar f tn He pressured me more into getting the flu vaccine now since its already flu season and then he told me to think about the Tdap vaccine.
Avatar n tn You want to avoid any of the vaccines that contain LIVE virus (such as the shingles) but the flu shot is not one of those. The flu MIST for vaccine use does have the live virus and you want to avoid that. The neurology world seems divided on whether the flu vaccine is important to us or not. MS occurs because our immune system is already over activity, and that may very well give us added protection. But if we do come down with the flu, i can guarantee you it will be miserable.
Avatar f tn Just for those who may not know, the H1N1 vaccine is included in the seasonal flu vaccine this year. Last year, I got both shots and had no problems w/the H1N1 vax. I just wanted to let you know that in case you might be wondering about the H1N1 part. In fact, I really didn't hear of any ill effects in the news from anybody taking the H1N1 shot.
Avatar n tn Flu shots have never bothered me, but I had a terrible reaction to the pneumonia vaccine - high fever, chills, swollen/painful arm, no appetite....
650416 tn?1274711495 any thoughts on the swine flu??? what are your thoughts about the vaccine? any advice from drs?
599170 tn?1300973893 Funny thing is that last year, I was the only one in my family to get a flu vaccine and I was the ONLY ONE TO GET THE FLU!!! Very unpleasant nasal swab for the diagnosis, I might add. I would NOT have bothered to get my flu diagnosed/treated except that my husband was having surgery in another state in less than 2 weeks from when I came down with the flu and I didn't want him to get sick. That Tamiflu is unbelievable.
675718 tn?1530033033 i got my seasonal flu shot in october and the swine flu vaccine a week ago although i am sick now with a cold i will not get the flu
939489 tn?1260887943 Not the h1n1 vaccine as it is not available yet, but I asked and it will be the killed vaccination as the flu vaccine I received. I have not had any adverse reaction other than soreness at the injection site that lasted about a day, maybe less. Has anyone else gotten their flu shot already???
Avatar f tn I asked my OB office yesterday if I should have the multi dose vaccine or the preservative free vaccine. They said either was fine. I had the multi dose today at work. Now, that I have read some articles online. I'm worried I may have done something that can hurt my baby. Any advice or knowledge to offer.
Avatar n tn The only thing I can think for this is about 4 weeks ago I got the flu vaccine for the 1st time. In the last week or so the weather has got a lot colder and I possibly might have got the flu. I'm wondering if the vaccine helping my immune system fighting the flu is the contributing factor to my recent fluctuations.
Avatar f tn You SHOULD get the flu vaccine! If you get the flu you will probably have a hard time dealing with it. Even 'normal' people should be vaccinated. Alot of thyroid patients are immuno-suppressed and catch alot of things going around, so it is very advisable to protect yourself. I had the flu vaccine for the first time this year. I didn't get the flu when everyone here in Australia got it. I did get pneumonia though, which is totally not related to flu...had that 4 times this year!
