1770029 tn?1325802355 Hi and sorry you are ill. There is no such thing as "stomach flu" meaning the influenza virus does not cause flu in the stomach. It is considered gastroenteritis. The symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, low grade fever up to 100 degrees and possible cramps are caused by many things, virus or bacterial. However, the most common cause is a virus called Norovirus. It is spead from person to person by fecal oral contamination.

Avatar n tn I thought that i was getting better after a couple of days, but soon was awakened with a stomach flu in the middle of the night, I'm not throwing up anymore, but still have diarrhea and a very consistent pain in my abdomen, which I'm pretty sure is gas. Although i haven't been able to walk upright for long amounts of time without the pain becoming overwhelming its almost by my belly button but isn't stuck in one spot. Any help is appreciated.
2050045 tn?1343153733 If it only lasted a couple hours and not several days it was food poisoning...most people get it without even knowing it because they automatically label it as "stomach flu" if your doctor said 2 go if it doesn't go away I wouldn't worry about it if it's finally over with...
Business woman2 It is unusual for a stomach virus to cause such a high fever. I would be concerned for a bacterial infection which can be more serious. Good luck and I hope you feel better!
1211508 tn?1343079605 Hi. I recently had a nasty bout with the norovirus (stomach flu) which was a brutal 12 hours or so. After my stomach had settled I noticed while I was lying in bed that my heart rate was close about 108 - 120 bpm. Now my normal resting pulse rate is about 57-60 bpm. I did have a fever of about 100.1-100.5 degrees Fahrenheit. The advice nurse suggested I drink more fluids as dehydration could have been a cause.
476834 tn?1228398709 Whoo-yeah... Viruses can bring on a mini-flare. I had one after my bout with bronchitis. I suppose it was inevitable - I had a fever for four days. I got better, then a couple of days later, started feeling really loopy. Didn't last for more than two days, fortunately.
5421936 tn?1378849147 So my daughter was throwing up on Saturday until about late afternoon. No other symptoms. I woke up today...stomach ache, headache, body ache, throwing up, diarrhea. Can't keep nothing done. No food, ginger ale. My hubby came home and now he has it. Ughhhh I hope this passes like...tonight. I just ate some applesauce and a few saltines and sipping Gatorade. Being 9 months pregnant and stomach flu is not fun at all.
Avatar n tn You say "I have a 7 month baby and has the stomach flu." Do you mean you have the flu or the baby has the flu? If the latter, go with the advice from margy. If the former, feed the baby as usual, keeping yourself as hydrated as possible. (Stomach flu doesn't transmit in breast milk.

Avatar f tn Ya, me either...if the vet wouldn't have told me I wouldn't have believed it...or maybe he's not a very good vet? Same guy that gave Sheba drops for ear mites without even looking or doing a swab...so who knows? Think I'll call the Kennel Club tomorrow and ask them.

Avatar f tn 31 weeks pregnant and have a stomach bug been sick all night. want water but of i drink water i am sick after what to do!??
Avatar m tn Thanks for the response, I was worried because I read that it's typical to feel symptoms of the flu early on, since herpes is a virus. I read that diarrhea can occur too. When i looked up the flu virus, diarrhea didn't appear to be one of the symptoms. It is one of the symptoms for stomach flu, but from what I saw, not one of the flu. I don't think I have stomach flu though, since I didn't vomit or anything.
Avatar n tn Hi. I'm having similar symptoms months after a flu /stomach virus also with no definite answers. I get very pronounced bloating , sometimes nausea and a feeling of fullness after eating very little. It has been going on for months. There a thread on steady health community where a lot of us have been having similar ongoing symptoms after a viral type illness. Some people have listed foods, herbs, probiotic treatments that have helped.

589779 tn?1235125028 i have just had the worst stomach virus i have ever experienced. for 16 hours i was constantly being sick every thirty minutes. dr's were about to admit me to hospital when i stopped being sick. i;m 9 weeks pregnant, does anyone know if this will affect my baby.
Avatar f tn It could still be a stomach virus, however, it could be a bacteria or even parasite. I recenlty had a stomach virus that lasted about 7-8 days. Have you ever been tested for or diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)? Your headaches could very well be a sign of dehydration - with all the diarrhea, you can get dehydrated pretty quickly. Be sure and stay well hydrated - water, ginger ale, sports type drinks are all good.
