Thank you both! I went in yesterday afternoon and they said that it wasn't the flu or a virus. It was just pregnancy causing me to throw up. They just said that if it happens again to come in and they will hook my up to an iv again like they did.

Good info. The term stomach "flu" is actually erroneous (that's not a dig at you, everyone uses that). Almost all stomach "flus" are viral in nature, and have nothing to do with influenza. Unless someone is diagnosed with actual influenza, they don't have a "flu". That's one of those terms that has just grown over the years. Handwashing is THE most effective way to stop the spread of communicable diseases and infections.

The stomach flu is not the flu. The stomach flu is usually caused by the norovirus which is going around as a superbug right now. The flu shot had nothing to do with it.

Yesterday I felt fine I took a nap and when I woke up I felt like my stomach was turned upside down. I was dry heaving and so sick to my stomach for 5 hours and gradually my symptoms subsided by then it was bedtime. I woke up today feeling the same maybe half as bad I've dry heaved once but my stomach feels like at any second I could be back in the bathroom. I have no fever chills or anything else going on. Anyone feel like this? Any thoughts what it could be?

I think I caught the stomach flu from my nephew and my moms helper. I am about to be 36 weeks, so is there anything I can do for it, or do I just have to wait it out? I had the flu at the beggining of my pregnancy. I went back to e.r for same thing they gave me an I.v and sent me home with a prescription for gravol. Gravol helps and is safe.

If it only lasted a couple hours and not several days it was food poisoning...most people get it without even knowing it because they automatically label it as "stomach flu" if your doctor said 2 go if it doesn't go away I wouldn't worry about it if it's finally over with...

If you can't keep any fluid or food down i would probably go to the hospital. I was so sick at one point in my pregnancy i couldn't even keep stomach acid down. So i got a shot of zofran, a shot of phennigan, some antibiotics, and a couple of bags of fluids through an iv. Plus they hooked me up to a bunch of machines to monitor the baby's heart rate and movement. I was released after a couple of hours but it really helped.

Omg I totallly feel for you ladies who have been sick your whole pregnacy I have been so lucky to not have those symptoms however I have had the stomach flu for 12 hrs and this is awful straight pain. I now will not.complain about anythig cuz.I'm so helpless there's nothing.

The flu shot is for respiratory flu, not for the stomach flu. A girl I knew got the flu toward the end of her pregnancy and it turned into pneumonia and she had to have an emergency c section at like 30 weeks and she ended up passing away from it never having been able to hold her baby because they had to put her in a medical induced coma. That being said, I have gotten a flu shot with every pregnancy and every year to protect my little ones with weak immune systems.

I think I have some kind of stomach flu and have had diaherria all day. I'm a ftm and am worried about it being bad for the baby. Has anyone else gotten sick while pregnant?
