Common Questions and Answers about Stiff neck pain relief medicine

neck

morning, in that I could actually lift myself to a sitting position but yesterday morning, my husband had to gingerly sit me up as I winced and yelled out in pain. He too had this stiff neck but it didn't seem to linger on like mine has...same with my father and two co-workers. It's very strange and I just keep hoping that one of these mornings I will wake up and be fine. I plan to call my Dr. again tomorrow and while I really like her and trust her, I think she's stumped too.
Felt burst of pain at left base of neck. Think I blacked out momentarily. Shaking badly. But because the pain was just a burst, I thought I was OK. I contacted my neurosurgeon's office and was sent for a neck x-ray, which showed no fracture. Within 24-36 hours of accident developed severe neck pain in left side of neck; head tilted and turned far right. Feb - Aug: Because the neurosurgeon said I had whiplash, I turned to a D.O.
In other words I take or eat a substance and usually don't feel any reaction, especially in the case of vitamins, herbs, suppliments, etc. (except for say sleepiness in the case of some medications or pain relief) then I go to sleep. I will then usually wake up around 3AMor when I wake up in the morning a massive stiff neck on my left side along with sinus stuffiness and a sinus headache. The symptoms get worse with each day that I take the substance. I have to take HRT via injections.
Could anyone know why this is happening while speaking. Now treating myself with acupuncture but not feeling any relief. I know my neck pain is because of computer job but while talking getting sever vibration, pressure?
I get sharp pains mostly near my right temple, sometimes the left, but I get pains in the center and at the base of my neck. (During severe headaches my neck is usually stiff) I haven't ever had nausea, vomiting, blind spot, light or noise sensitivity. I have just started using a daily vitamin supplement because of an eye problem (syptoms similar to glycoma, that might have been caused by Topomax) that I had just recently.
I have regular epidural injections that provide relief for the stiffness and some pain, take vicodin and flexaril, and motrin for pain, spasm relief, and inflammation but dont want to use more than absolutely necessary so I dont tear up my stomach. I try swimming and while it doesnt have the jolt impact of walking, the very movement of those back muscles can trigger an episode.

After 7 months of symptoms similar to yours - I am still not sure if neck problems cause the jaw pain (and facial pain and ear pain lower back pain) or if TMJ disorder causes it all. What is helping: -Wearing a neck brace (inexpensive - get it at the pharmacy) seems to help. Espcially at the end of the day when my neck is tired. -Sleeping on my back. I used to sleep on my stomach - arms and lega akimbo. I think this put a lot of pressure on my neck and jaw.
Hi Brucer, I'm also going for the nerve burning for back pain relief from my pain management doc. I had one diagnostic block done which only lasted about 5 mins (I actually think I was pain free durring that time due to all the happy drugs they had given me), I am scheduled for diagnostic test number 2 on the 3rd of next month. Now per my doc they have to do atleast 2-3 diagnostic blocks before they decide if burning will work. Has your doc done more then one test yet?
The pain finally diminished, but about a month later it started in my right neck. The pain now runs all the way down my neck and into my shoulder and right chest a bit. It especially hurts if I apply pressure to my pulse(Carotid artery). It feels like inflammed nerves or something. So, I went back to another doctor and he gave the same diagnosis. He said unfortunatley the cause is unknown. Now I am on a stronger anti-inflammatory. I just want to know the cause so it won't come back.
I too am having problems with ear pain, stiff neck, jaw pain, sinus pain and it all started with a fever and flu like symptoms. I am scheduled for a root canal on Thursday. I will let you know if it has all been related to my teeth. My dentist told me that the root of this tooth is very close to my sinuses. I felt like I had a sinus infection and an ear infection. The fever was two days after I had a crown put in.

When I try turning my head to the left, my neck seems very stiff and the pain shifts to the right hand side of my neck. When I try turning my head to the right, my neck still seems stiff and the pain still remains on the righthand side of my neck. When I am looking straight ahead, the pain is in the lefthand side of my neck? When I tuck my chin into my chest, the pain shoots down my spine and stops in the middle of my back between my shoulder blades.
Recently,I was put on zanaflex . I have neck pain, upper back and shoulder pain, cramping in my leg from time to time and buzzing in foot. I take it at night, and haven't really noticed a difference, except for couple of days ago, I had that spasm cramping feeling in my upper back (out of control pain). I had to take a pill right away. luckily , the pain eased up enough for me to have some sort of a productive day.
Migraines which I personaly never really experienced up untill 2 years ago and now I get them pretty often,Sleep apnea if you read about it you will understand why, burning pain at the top of your back, chest tightness, jaw pain, neck and back pain and many other symptoms.I have experienced everything they talk about and many other things which could quite probably be linked to this problem and I am quite sure this Fizzy thing could be linked also.
I was in a car accident in 2001 in which I had a subluxation of C1-C2. I had servere burning pains in the neck but just minor migraines. I had C1-2 fused in 2003 and for a year after I had no pain or headaches. Life was great. I had a child in 2005 and when she was 6 months old I all of a sudden got completely stiff through out my whole body with a horrile headache and nausea. I went to the ER and they thought it was viral spinal menigitis.

Maybe it is working on a computer for 8-9 hours daily. Whatever the cause, it is there. So along with the tingling, aching, and shoulder pain. I have neck pain and terrible heacaches. When the headaches gets terrible, I get nautious. Maybe it is anxiety related as I know I am absolutely overwhelmed at work. I am raising (4) boys on my own with no financial support and very little physical support of their father.

I have no pain in the nodes themselves but have developed pain in the neck which seems like a stiff neck, and pain exists with any pressure from straining or lifting, also movement related pain in neck, chest and spine in the same region. No signs of infection at all, but do have extreme fatigue, back pain, some weight loss, among other varied symptoms. My Primary Dr said since no other enlarged nodes were found in other regions, he is not concerned about lymphoma.
After a trip to the ER, it was assumed that I had an alergic reaction to the medicine. I stopped taking the medicine after only 3 weeks and needless to say, I am still breaking out in hives and have joint pain. I have been tested for allergies and that was negative. I have had bloodwork done and it was negative. Just wondering if anyone else was experiencing same symptoms. I am going insane trying to deal with this!
I first noticed it when I was outside in the heat and came home and sat in front of the air cond.I turned my neck to the left and had a pain from my shoulder up to the back of my neck..thats when I noticed I had this ringing in my ear that drove me crazy..my ENT diagnosed the problem as "BENIGN POSITION VERTIGO" gave me a excercise to do..said it would make the dizziness go away 75% efective..
Thanks terri, Not many people understand neck pain until they have had it themselves. I think there is another post on this. However, at times if the pain, or restriction etc is just our share of illness , then acceptance is probably the best. I find that the more I stress over the tightness , the worse it gets as we know that anxiety promotes muscle tension as well. Having said that acceptance is still a learning process for me.
It is present in my trapezoid area (front and back) my arms, and my neck. I wake up stiff in these areas occasionally. I have no fever, just lethargy along with these pains. (but I have always needed naps in the afternoon, lol) My family doctor gave me Flexeril for it last year, but it hasn't helped now. Aspirin doesn't help either. I am currently under chiropractic care, which has helped lessen the neckaches.
In October 2011 it went away, and I was fine til January of this year. I woke up one day with a stiff neck/headache, and every day after that it worsened until i went to the ER feeling faint/dizzy/weak. Ever since the trip to the ER i have been experiencing a myriad of symptoms that no Doctor I see can explain.
Scan revealed c7 slipped disc in neck, had pain relief and injection, just wondering what will the surgeon do when I see him/her?
I'm 20 years of age and my body is killing me. I also have toothaches, neck pains and muscle pain everywhere. I was wondering what could that be from, I recently went to the emergency room, the doctor perscribed anxiety, but this feeling is worse than that, i'm very fatigue can someone give suggestions please. I' ve been taking the medicine perscribed and it doesn't work at all.
And at the beginning of this year, I switched insurances and found a very compassionate physician that started me on Opana ER and Opana has been the best medicine yet for controlling my pain. I hope the pain relief continues for awhile and doesn't fizzle out so quickly...we'll see. I have been working for over 16 years in the engineering field.
Sometimes when turning my head quickly, I get a pinching type pain in my neck on both sides of my neck. When I sleep, the tremor goes away. When I wake up with the sensation of pins-and-needles in my arm from sleeping on it, although it is numb, as it normally would be, I have complete use of my hand and fingers, normal dexterity, without the tremor, until normal feeling comes back, usually up to about 5 minutes. The more relaxed I am, it seems, the less the tremor.
