Avatar f tn My daughter had a staph infection after having a c-section. At the time she had the infection and before it was diagonised, she was unable to stand or walk. Seems it settled in her hip. This was a year ago, and she still complains every once in a while of pain in the hip. Could this be long term effects from the infection? Will this disease cause long term effects?
Avatar f tn Yes. Staph infections are from a type of bacteria- staphylococcal. It can cause TONS of different problems and is easily spread to others. For example- have you ever heard of MRSA outbreaks? That is a kind of staph that is drug resistant and it can spread very easily. Toxic Shock Syndrome, when a tampon leads to a build up of bacteria that gets into the blood stream and shuts down the body, is another kind of staph infection. This doesn't mean you definitely have it, but it's possible.
Avatar f tn i actually just was told i have mrsa (staph infection) from the doctor last week. i did pop one of the boils i had and pus and blood came out so that cant be good.
Avatar f tn I have been on antibiotics for six days for a nasil staph infection now the bridge of my nose is tingling.the pain is all gone but I still have a small opening inside my nose and it is still red inside and it swells and then the swelling goes down through out the day. Why is my nose tingling?
Avatar m tn I have been researching and it seems as though it could have been MRSA or Staph (my wound was similar to those I saw on google)--red, bleeding, puss, crater like wound, hot to the touch. I am worried now that I have not taken the right measures in taking care of this. Although the wound has closed and I feel and seem okay (minus the bump) is it possible that I could have long term effects that I am not recognizing immediately?
Avatar n tn Up until November I could not tell you when I had been sick last. I then got a MRSA infection on my hand which was treated with Bactrim 2 per day for 10 days. All was fine until two weeks ago when it came back in my nostril. It started with something the size of a pea and grew to half my check within what seemed to be 24 hours. Unfortunately this could not have happened at a worse time. Our beloved family doctor of 12 years is no longer in practice.
Avatar f tn Well, your results will be interesting. You can have an infection that isn't MRSA or staph. My only experience with staph was my son who did get a nasty staph infection from a small rug burn type of injury on his leg at school. He bandaged it himself after showing it to me and I didn't really worry about it. A week later, wowza. It was a festering crater. We went to the doctor who gave a topical antibiotic cream.
Avatar n tn Effective, on-going drainage of the boil will be as important as the antibiotic therapy. First, you should re-confirm that the Staph causing your daughter’s infection, truly is one of the more resistant, more dangerous varieties. For a very long time, a medicine called vancomycin has been the treatment of choice for infection with Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Now, other medicines seem to be more effective, including teicoplanin and linezolid.
Avatar m tn Hi Yep, It appears that this staph aureus, can be got on the skin, nose or rectum, The symptoms of MRSA in the rectum can start with pimples or boils. The rectum may be swollen and inflamed with the infection. Small bumps on the skin can quickly turn into painful abscesses that may require draining by a doctor. Do hope his helps.
Avatar f tn I think you should see another doctor to get diagnosed by having either a culture done or molecular test to confirm that you have a staph aureus and/or MRSA infection. MRSA is just the form of staph that is more resistant to antibiotics. You don't normally spread staph aureus or MRSA by hugging because the clothes cover the area. So if the area is covered you should be okay.
Avatar n tn which he also said was not indicative of herpes considering the pain most diagnosed HSV 2 patients are in. He suggested that a staph infection or MRSA seemed unlikely too since it usually spreads very quickly and is worse looking than my place, which looks basically like a scrape or popped pimple. After explaining what I do for a living, he figured it would be folliculitis...based on what I've described, any guess on your behalf?
Avatar f tn MRSA is Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). It is called that because this type of Staph is resistant to methicillin plus several other antibiotics. So it is harder to treat because there are less antibiotics available to treat it with. That doesn't mean they don't have any. They have developed other antibiotics to treat it. However, they are stronger antibiotics and can be harder to take.
Avatar n tn MRSA (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus) which is a type of staph infection is serious, if MRSA is suspected she should be taken to a doc asap. Staph can progress to impetigo (crusting of the skin) which might explain the area above her ear. Can you image search staph or MRSA and maybe give us a good description of the pustules?
Avatar n tn Hello, From the symptoms it sounds like a boil or an abscess. A boil caused due to staph infection generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. Finally, the pus "forms a head," which can be surgically opened or spontaneously drain out. Apply warm compresses on these bumps and consult a dermatologist for examination and confirmation of diagnosis.
Avatar m tn Eight days ago I woke up with an abscess on my leg in the groin area, opposite of my testicles. My wife and I promptly went to the doctor and it turned out to be a mrsa infection. The sore was drained of puss and I have been antibiotics taking them on time and will continue to take them on time until they are gone. My question is: what should we do so that we can continue to have sex without transferring the bacteria to my wife?
Avatar f tn How contagious is a staph infection such as mrsa and ringworm to infants? And how serious is it?
Avatar n tn Sounds like the pus is starting to come out. But if you pick a staph infection it isn't like a pimple it will spread the infection. Try not to touch it. Wash you hands often and use clean towels. You may want to go back to the doctor since you opened it up. If it isn't getting better they may need to change the antibiotic.
Avatar f tn s the elderly, infants, HIV, etc - they are susceptible to MRSA infection.
Avatar f tn The other day my doctor was trying to ease my mind and told me he would swab my nose to see if my infection on my nose was MRSA, but also see if I was a carrier of MRSA. He told me some people are carriers and have it always and can just spread it. :/ My test results came back negative for staph and negative for MRSA. But, does that still mean I could be a carrier?
