Avatar n tn Going to try and attach picture. I train Jiu Jitsu which is alot like wrestling, and I think i picked up a fungus or something on my neck. I dont think its staph. Any ideas? Been putting Clotrimazole on it for 3 days, its not getting much better though.

Avatar f tn She said I should to therapy, so I went to physical therapy 3x a week until August. Yesterday I was in a Jiu Jitsu class and had my arm pinned by my partner, there were a couple of loud pops and sharp pain once she let go. Today my shoulder hurts when it is moved in any way. My partner thinks it’s all her fault, but I don’t even know what happened. Therapy helped a little, but my shoulder still felt like it was catching and loose in other areas. What should I do?
Avatar f tn I had three warts on my nostril for about 5 or 6 months. I think that I might have gotten it by doing jiu-jitsu- I decided to treat it with OTC syllic acid about two weeks ago. I'm now paranoid that I will spread this to my children and wife. I want to know how contagious these warts are iv been looking on line and get so much conflicting information I don't know what to believe I'm so paranoid about infecting my family how do I keep everything clean someone please help me.
Avatar n tn In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph). It does not look like fungal infection because it is non itchy. Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful.
Avatar f tn I was not previously in an accident, however I did train MMA, Jiu-jitsu, and boxing and I weight trained as well, pretty hardcore for a few years with no previous athletics. At the time my pain occurred I had been on a break from training for 3 months.
Avatar f tn Saturday I'm going to see hubby train Jiu Jitsu at the gym, and next to a buffet. Hehe. Church on Sunday. I'm walking one a hour a day and reading books about pregnancy. I rented those books at the public library. Hopefully I go shopping for clothes too. Okay God Bless!
Avatar f tn I am a 16 year old female, 5'4 120 pounds. I do Crossfit twice a week and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu twice a week sometimes three times. So I'm very active. About two weeks ago, I started having trouble breathing, and pain in the side of my chest, slightly below the nipple line and in the exact same spot on my back. I figured it would go away after a few days but it's only gotten worse and now the pain is incredibly painful and I can only breathe shallowly if I want to be comfortable.
Avatar f tn Boxing is great for weight loss and fun, we have had personal trainers come to our gym just to do jiu jitsu (grapple) and are exhausted after 5 mins literally. Long runs arnt the way id go, find yourself a big set of stairs (near a beach or something) Sprint to the top touching every step with both feet then jog back down to get your breather. Do this 10 to 15 times 3/4 times a week and watch the results!EXPLOSIVE!
Avatar m tn Recently I got some sort of bug bite looking thing on my leg. On the first day that it appeared, it was extremely itchy. I scratched it for a while but then stopped because i knew it would only make it worse. The next day it became painful rather than itchy. It doesn't hurt if I don't touch it, however if it is touched it's pretty bad. My room mate has a puppy and it had fleas for a while, but it doesn't look like other flea bites I've gotten.
1696596 tn?1317565840 I had a lot of head pain and back pain with that one, might have been the throws, lol. Then I started taking jiu-jitsu and over the time I was in there I felt good for awhile and then started to notice more and more things. Anything that is a straining thing could cause symptoms to start right away, if you already had the herniation to begin with or it could start a herniation if it was enough weight. Sorry sweetie. I know how you feel about the gym.
Avatar f tn I used to do jiu-jitsu but stopped when i got pregnant with my son. I went back to it when he was about 6 months and now that im pregnant again i stopped. It can be really hard on your body and sometimes you don't realize when you've done something you shouldn't have.
Avatar f tn I start PT next week, hoping, I can get some muscle strength back before I go to work and so I can ease back into my workout routines, starting with P90X and hoping to get back into jiu-jitsu at some point within the next year.
Avatar m tn Anyways, recently I have taken up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Wrestling (Mixed Martial Arts). During training, we suffer some injuries.Usually that include injured hands, feet, split toes from the mat, mat burns and some rashes. Every now and then someone will end up bleeding, which they are usually removed from training until they quit bleeding and are bandaged up. My concerns are that the HIV/HEP C statuses are unknown. We are not required to submit a blood test prior to training.
Avatar m tn I'm worried I have been put at risk for HIV. I recently competed in a BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) competition where I suffered a small injury which bled, during the match my opponent also suffered an injury aswell with bleeding and I'm pretty sure due to the nature of the martial arts that our wounds touched. My concern has stemmed since I remember the competition enlist form did not ask for recent blood work.
Avatar m tn t pop and keep producing a clear juice which dries yellow on the skin. They will not go away no matter what I do. I practice Brazilian jiu-jitsu so I wonder if it has something to do with the heat in the room. I take a shower in the morning and always right after practice. I use non-comodonic (sp?) face face wash and lotion. I am pretty sure they aren't staph or weird stuff from the mats.... I am almost 30, this should not be happening, what are they and what can I do?
Avatar m tn ve been grappling (Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) a long time and skin infection is always a concern. Staph and ringworm are the most common threat and we are told to be particularly careful of open wounds, burns, etc. that may get infected. Since the patches tend to get red and flaky when they are inflamed, I began to wonder how susceptible they make me to infection.
Avatar m tn hi, during a jiu jitsu class i had a choke demonstrated on me, it was an artirial choke....when the pressure was applied i field the obvious and natural blood pressure in my head spike. it was very quick and after about 1 second of pressure i felt something in my head pop.....i had a strange headache after wards and when lying down in bed i can feel a sort of throbbing pressure behind my eyes/nose area......should i be concerened about this?
Avatar m tn I just had one quick question I forgot to ask you... I train mixed martial arts (jiu jitsu) and I had a slight cut on my pointer finger (by yhe cuticle) yesterday. It was due to skin peeling off. It was bleeding a little but not gushing out blood or anything. I did shake hands with a bunch of people after class and I'm worried if god for bid they had a slight cut and their blood mixed with mine and now have HIV (assuming they were HIV infected)?
Avatar m tn I was accidentally kneed in the jaw yesterday at Jiu jitsu practice and now my back teeth won't touch when I bite down. Only the front two teeth touch. There is a little pain and swelling. It doesn't feel like anything is broken or dislocated. Should I give this a day or two to see if the swelling goes down, or is this a sign of something more serious? Thanks!
Avatar m tn m wondering if I had them because of training Jiu Jitsu so consistently and I got dehydrated? Vigorous exercise depletes all of your minerals right?
Avatar m tn Further, this infection is not typically transmitted to persons who already have HSV-1 and over 60% of American adults have the infection (most people with infection do not know it) and thus cannot get it again. All of this tends to make your infection less infectious for others.
Avatar m tn I have had skipped heart beats on and off through out my life but over the past week they have become way more noticeable and when they do skip a beat it hurts. It's not lasting pain but just really quick and intermittent. It just goes BAM. Then it's gone. I train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and a few of my friends who are doctors that train there said to stay off the mat till I see a cardiologist.
Avatar m tn I went on the insulin pump 3-5 months ago, competition athlete in jiu-jitsu and soccer, which means I exercise 2 hrs without pump. Also, adrenaline kicks in and sometimes after activity I will have 250-350 range. Moreover, pump malfunctions in the site and another in the tubing left me without insulin delivery for 3-4 day periiods until spotted. I had sustained level of over 400 for whole days.
