Avatar f tn It's more likely a staph infection than herpes. With herpes you would feel a lot of pain and not itchy (the itchiness is present as a tingly sensation before the sore surfaces). It could also just be a pimple or bug bite, or a rash from chaffing.
Avatar f tn She said it was tender when she would bump it and it did stick up. She had it removed and they found staph infection in it. It took a while to heal and turned out to be much bigger than it looked. She had a time with it keeping it open to drain. You may want to go to a dermatoligist to have a look at it. Even spider bites can get infected and cause problems, especially if you have already used topidal antibiotic and a prescription, and did not help.
Avatar m tn I have seen quite a few people on here that get a bug bite then they got cellulitis after. They are usually caused by a Staph aureus infection. Staph is becoming very resistant. It is good if they can give you bacterim (septra) as it is easier to tolerate and causes less problems than some antibiotics but that is if it works. I hope it clears up soon. Feel free to send your lab work if you wish.
Avatar n tn Currently, my husband has a staph infection and is on antibiotics. This is number 4 outbreak in a year. He has never had any staph infection before and has an autoimmune disorder since his youth. He suffers from hypothyroidism and alopecia. Why now? How do we get rid of it and is this going to be an issue for a long period. As my son too has an autoimmune disorder, alopecia should I be concern for him as well?
Avatar f tn mrsa is a skin infection If the immune system can not fight it off, that can start very small looks like a bug bite, If not taken care it can be deadly, I wish you both well, glad she is the hospital http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar n tn It could possibly be a bug bite, and you might have had a reaction the bug bite, that does happen to some people. But if had been going on for a couple weeks I would recommend going to see your PCP and see what your doctor says it is. As I said before I would recommend using Anti bacterial cream and put it on the bump with a band aid covering it, so if it is contagious, you don't spread it Rash Cream Ibuprofen. I also wonder if its MRSA.
Avatar f tn The first time the doctor assumed it was an infected bug bite. Max has since then had a couple courses of antibiotics. None of which have made the lesion any better. He has had two different lab cultures done. The first culture came back positive for staph, and the doc prescribed another antibiotic. We kept it clean, gave him his antibiotics, and changed the bandage daily. It did not even begin to look better. He has since had a culture to see if it might be some sort of viral infection?
Avatar n tn It isn't unusual to not have an explanation for all the sores and blemishes that appear on our bodies. I'm confident this isn't HSV related.
Avatar f tn I received a bug bite on my leg last night. The middle has turned into a blister with a purple and white bruise around it. A 2 inch red circle is surrounding the bruise and the whole area is swollen. It is slightly painful and there is occasional numbness. Should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn I have had no reacitons on the penile area and I had it removed today, so here I sit for a week waiting, and I also may have mersa staph infection as well. My beautiful perfect penis is now stamped with ugly Warts. Doctor said it would surprise him if it wasn't a STD.
Avatar f tn Itchy spots that blister after a few days, weep clear liquid, and take forever to heal! Started with my 15 yr old daughter, next came me, then my 17 yr old, and my son's girlfriend. My husband and son haven't gotten any. this has been going on for months. Doctors have said hives, flea bites, staph, and they just don't know.
Avatar f tn I have lots of red pimple-like spots on my lower abdomen, upper thighs, and a line of them up both sides of my abdomen up to my arm pits. Nothing on upper abdomen and chest, except a cluster of them of both areolas only. My doctor and dermatologist think they're bug bites, although they don't look like any of the bug bite photos I've found on the web. What's concerning me are the ones around my nipples.
Avatar f tn it is not near as bad as the first one which was 2 months ago. I also have been getting bug bite looking sores on my arms, legs , and face. they ooze scrape open then scab but not like a mosquito bite. just didn't know if it could be connected. didn't know if lesions can show on legs (near ankles) arms face.
Avatar f tn If the pus was present, I would think it was a staph infection. Even though it might not be a staph infection, the fact that it is getting bigger could mean that more and more of her skin, tissue, muscle, could suffer from irreversible damage. If she is feeling poorly that could mean an infection is spreading that the current course of antibiotics is not healing. Please get a second opinion. Your Mom deserves a second look.
402056 tn?1201542188 s doctor. Any 101 on staph infection would have to be based on intimate knowledge of the specific staph involved, the extent of the pneumonia, and based on his general health and the response thus far to antibiotic therapy, the likelihood of his recovering.
Avatar n tn Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle by staph aureus. Apply warm compresses on the boil and keep the area clean.Drainage of the boil is done only when it becomes soft and forms a head.Take some over the counter pain reliever and consult a doctor for examination and antibiotics prescription. If there are recurrent boils, then pls get your blood sugar levels estimated. I hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.
Avatar n tn That is the depression of the local immune response around the bite. If bacteria bave been injected into the bite the cortisone cream will dampen the initial response. For this reason the bite should be washed with soap and water initially then the first cream used should be a bactricidal cream and the cortisone cream should be rubbed in four to five hours later.
Avatar f tn okay mom so I need your help my 1 year old daughter had gotten a staph infection when she was about 6 months old and now get them very easy there anyway I can stop this?
Avatar n tn It could be Boils or furuncles, which are painful pus-filled lumps on the skin resulting from the deep infection of a hair follicle. The infection is usually caused by a type of bacteria called Staphylococcus aureus (commonly known as staph). Penicillin is known to be effective against staph infections. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. In the meantime apply warm compress and take OTC Acetaminophen for relief from pain.
Avatar f tn About a week ago I got some kind of infection in my foot I'm not sure if it's staph infection or if it's a spider bite and waiting on the culture to come back but in the meantime the infection has spread and it my whole left leg started swelling and since then I swear I can feel something moving and it it is all the way up my body now up into my stomach there's a big old knot is visible you can see it am I going crazy. 1711722 tn?1356487554 Bee! Glad to hear you are finished and recovering. Haven't had a bug bite issue and I live in South Florida where they are prevalent. I will have my 6 month SVR test in a few weeks, but feel confident because I was UND at 12 weeks post tx. But a warning to all of you as you finish tx. I jumped full force back into my life post tx as I was feeling good. But my body really wasn't ready and as a result I spent the last two months pretty sick.
453284 tn?1205793544 My fiance has Cystic Fibrosis, in the past few months its seems as though he was getting worse, well he just went for his regular check up and they told him that he has staph infection in his lungs. Is this going to hurt him bad? Will he get through this? How can they treat this? This will make the cystic fibrosis worse, won't it?
Avatar m tn Staph infections can be very difficult to treat. Staph bacteria can produce toxins and can cause various infections (wound, skin, toxins and if unlucky, septicemia/bacteremia). It may be killed by chlorine in the water but will not be killed on the skin especially if the bacteria is deeper and protected by the skin and tissue. The chlorine level may not be high enough to actually kill off the bacteria especially since some strains of Staph. auerus tend to be pretty tough.
Avatar n tn s also relatively small, I think it is a spider bite as it has happened before and looked kind of similar. I have taken a picture of it and uploaded it here: http://tinypic.
Avatar m tn A couple days ago I found what I thought was a bug bite on my upper left leg. The next day or so about 2 more appeared. They all itch and all that. The strangest thing is were my leg "connects" to my groin area. there i s a weird swollen line right above were the two places meet. It is itchy and obviously swollen compared to the other side. It is on the right side of my left leg and fades before it reaches my butt. It doesn't pulse or anything odd like that.
