1211319 tn?1282527452 No one can really answer this but it sounds like it wont be long before getting a lot worse. Dying from liver disease is a horrible death i.e not having a sound mind, vomiting blood everywhere. Sorry you are going through this. I'm not going to say to get him help because I'm sure you have tried this many times. Just try and make him comfortable until the end. Hope you or him don't suffer much.

Avatar m tn Please keep in mind that this varies according to the location of the metastisis. I personally know of survivors of many years with mets to the bone. It would also depend on your Mother's general health and what treatment will be prescribed. Another point is that all the lumps you describe in your Mother's breasts may not be cancerous; it would only take one malignant lump to cause the metastisis. Kindest regards ....
Avatar f tn I specialize in people with disabilities and getting them back exercising. In the case of lupus a lot of times its usually related to the medications they take and an altered metabolism. Though even with an altered metabolism not eating enough is just as harmful at times as eating slightly too much. Its also hardto get someone moving around who hurts and Iis out of breath everytime they move . Thank you for your response.
Avatar f tn Stage 1 is considered a small amount of fibrosis. Stages 2 and 3 is considered a greater amount of fibrosis or scarring meaning the disease has progressed. The more fibrosis the harder it is on the liver to carry out it's functions. As the damage progresses further, many scars can form together, which can lead to stage 4, or cirrhosis.
Avatar n tn Sorry to hear it’s still around to deal with; your situation is typical of many of us… my most prominent risk of exposure occurred in the early-seventies.
1135532 tn?1265056071 I've only had one appointment with gastro. so I'm quite new at understanding terminology. What are "stages" and how are they determined. Is there a success rate of remission related to these stages?
1326947 tn?1277294765 Interested in seeing what my report card has to say. Thanks to all of you, I have a list of questions for her. I have never had a liver biopsy have never been jaundiced or any side effects that would have indicated I even had HCV. I had just been monitoting my blood work over the past 34 years. So one of my questions would be when should we consider that unpleasantry.(the biopsy) I appreciate everyones input. It's been extreemly helpful to me.
478228 tn?1215161484 The degree of fibrosis, or scarring is measured on a scale of 0 through 4; with stage 4 signaling cirrhosis. This staging system tells us how much scarring has already occurred. There is also a similar measurement that quantifies the current activity of inflammation; scored A0 through A3, I believe. So, for instance, my last biopsy showed grade 3 activity, stage 3-4; significant fibrosis/scarring.
2123020 tn?1335045458 There are 5 levels of Chronic Kidney Disease that doctors use to determine how advanced your kidney disease is. Level 1 and 2 are mild, 3 is medium, 4 is advanced, and 5 is end stage renal disease (needing a transplant).

Avatar f tn what are the final stages of hepc? My boyfriend was diagnosed with hepc, cirrohis, liver lesions and low platelets (they weren't able to increase them in the hospital). The local hospital here said they couldn't do a liver biopsy because it was to dangerous and they weren't sure about him going to another hospital because he has no medical insurance and can't get any.

803751 tn?1238180989 While a few different systems are used, by the descriptive language you use, it appears that he's now stage 3 in a 4 stage system where stage 4 is cirrhosis. In general, Hepatitis C is fairly slow moving but not in all cases. Also, you should understand that biopsy staging can be off by as much as two stages due to sample size, relative sample size and pathologist bias. .
