4 with a bicuspid aorta vavle. i had surgery 7 weeks ago st jude aorta valve dacron graft for ascending aorta. Four days after surgery i need a pacemaker due to the surgery. My question is there any long term risk or dangers of this that i should look out for. I take amiodarone (200mg) for a-fib that i developed after pacemaker surgery and celexa 20mg, zocor 20 mg. norvasc 5mg. coumadin 7.5mg m & w 5 mg. the other days of the week. I started rehab tues.
I recently had a St. Jude Pacemaker installed to lessen the incidents of my Atrial fibrillation. I was having attacks once per week and I am very symptomatic. My cathleter Ablations had not resolved the fibrillation. I am currently using Sotalol in conjunction with the pacemaker. I was wondering what other people's experience with pacemaker was ???
Need an upgraded pacemaker? Pacemaker recall? What kind and what brand of your pacemaker? Do you have the serial number? You can directly contact the producer and find out why? Mine is St Jude and implanted in 2002. Still got 3 years to go. Once stage they said all the professional needed to download a programme because it reading the battery life in error. The programme in error but NOT the pacemaker itself.

Medtronic, Guidant, and St Jude make up most of the pacer implants, >90%. Medtronic and guidant in particular are very popular. Do some google research, there are some published articles on models names and recalls. And types, look into that too, as there are single lead, 2 lead, etc.
Pacers only activate at too low of a rate, they do nothing over a certain heart rate (usually around 40).
Could the brand of pacemaker have something to do with your problem? I had a St. Jude pacemaker for 10 years before the unit had to be changed and never had a problem with it the entire time. I am 100 % pacemaker dependent. It was set to beat from 60 to 120 times per minute. My new one is set from 60 to 130 but I cannot tell any difference. The only prescription I take is Armour thyroid. for a low thyroid condition.
Okay I'm 53 male with a st. Jude pacemaker. Today I was wearing a set of wireless headphones. While carving some wood I felt unusually faint. I stopped and took my pulse. Heart rate was 46. Is it possible the headphones interfered with the pacemakers computer and caused it to stop...my rythum is set at 60bpm...

Not the new model require 2 leads. It depends how many leads that your husband needs. Oh, I rather say it depends your husband's EP choose how many leads for him! They're one lead, two leads. three leads and even four leads pacemaker in the market.

THE CARDIOLOGIST THAT I JUST SAW HAD ME SEE AN ASSOCIATE AND HAVE A PACEMAKER CHECK DONE THIS WEEK. THE TECH FROM ST JUDE'S SAID I NEEDED A NEW PACEMAKER. THE HEART SPECIALIST WANTS TO DO ANOTHER - I CAN'T THINK OF WHAT IT IS CALLED - WHERE THEY GO INTO THE ARTERY IN THE GROIN AND UP TO THE HEART TO BE SURE THERE IS NO BLOCKAGE. Hi my boyfriend is 31 years old and we're waiting for his appointment to get his pacemaker installed. He has to find some other type of work to do then what he was doing before because he's always done physical jobs. What jobs can he do with a pacemaker? He has cardiomyopathy and we're unable to get a list of programs he can go study or jobs he can do. His heart is at 25%. Thanks.
You simply inform the technician on the day of the scan. Usually you fill in a form before the procedure which asks these questions. The powerful magnets in the mri scanner can heat any metal implants so you must inform them, then the equipment is adjusted accordingly. I believe they lower the intensity of the magnetic field.
After an endoscopy, I was diagnosed with H-pylori and placed on the treatment. I later spent 4 days in the ER (St. Jude Hospital, Fullerton, Ca.) with a bowel obstruction. Over the 4 days they conducted several tests and MRI, X-rays, etc. At the end they said the obstruction was clear and sent me home. I continue to see my GI, but continue to have daily/constant bloating and burping. I have had an ultrasound, numerous MRI and no answers. Any help is appreciated.
