Main causes of spotting between periods could be due to pregnancy, birth control pills, infection in an area of the body related to menstruation (including the vagina, the cervix and even the bladder). Other causes could be polycystic ovarian syndrome, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone and uterine abnormalities like fibroid and cervical dysplasia.
In your case, it can be due to the birth control pills. Stop the pills and see if it persists.
I had not missed any pills. The spotting continued so I stopped my pill on 26th August so I could have my period. I have been having sex, with a condom. Do u think this is normal or possibly that I have an infection or possibly need to come off the pill as I have been on it for 10 years now. I will go to my gp for tests but waiting for my period to finish before I do so.
I am 23 years old and since the middle of January I have been experiencing irregular spotting between my periods. I am on birth control pills which I take every day at the same time. My spotting ranges from barely noticable when i wipe to period like. I only have the slighted bit of cramping with it, and about a week ago I noticed that when I used a tampon only one side is saturated with blood.
I have been spotting in between periods since last April on and off. This occured after i stopped taking bc pills in February for over 10 years. I am scared there is something wrong, doc did bloodwork, ultrasound, everything came back normal but for very small fibroid 1.8 cm.....i have another appt to go back, but this is getting old and i am starting to think the worst, any suggestions--do you think a d&c would be warranted?
since stopping i have on and off spotting in between periods(brownish in color) went to doc had trans ultrasound done found very small fibroid 1.8cm although doc does not feel this is the problem. He did bloodwork for hormones, etc all in normal range. I should also mention i have HPV, most recent PAP was normal--- I have another appt to go back, but this is starting to wear on me. I keep thinking something is wrong with me and want some answers.
I am 28 years old and stopped taking bc pills in Feb 07 after being on them for over 10 years. I n april i started spotting(with minor cramps) in between periods mostly brown like. It doesnt happen every month but when it does it lasts anywhere from 1-3 days. I have been back to gyno numerous times with no diagnosis on what it could be. I was worked up for pelvic ultrasound, where they found a very small fibroid 1/8cm, but my doc does not feel it is from this.
I was still worried so i took 2 Yasmin combination pill on day 5 and 2 Yasmin pills on day 6. I did not take the pill after that. Ever since I have had heart burn and stomach ache, belching and pain between the shoulders. Today, day 13 of my cycle, i am bleeding, infact heavier than day 1 of my periods. The discharge is fresh bright red with mucous. I have never had mid cycle bleeding before. What is causing this?? Its not pregnancy or implantation bleeding, is it??
im very young and i dont know the difference between spotting and my period i used to get it just at random and now for two months i have got it on the 5th and my periods used to last 7 days and now they only last 3, they are still heavy and a dark red but i dont know if they are now spotting or if my body is just changing , please help me figure out what it is and find out if im pregnent or not....
If you are stressed or have changed any sort of physical activity that could be part of the problem, I was never regular when it came to my periods until i went on the pill. Even on the pill i would bleed in between periods, so they just figured that my body had to much lining to shed so i bled a little more. When i first got pregnant i bled a little at around 7 weeks, that was due to an irritated cervix after DH and I had sex.
i've had regular periods since age 11 (im 26) and this month it all seems to have gone haywire!
before my period i was spotting a tiny bit for a couple of days. i came on my period for a week as usual. now a week and a half after i finished my period, it seems i am on my period again.
i feel sickly and have back ache like when im on my period. im on the pill but have been for 10 years, same one, never any problems with it.
I sometimes get dark blood discharge in between periods it last a few days to a week and ranges from a little smear to sometimes a clump. It does not hurt and does not flow like my period. It's more like dark (almost black)discharge. I notice I get it a day or two after exercising and thought I might be aggravating something. This has been happening sporadically over 5 years.. I am 31 years old.
Some women spot and/or cramp when they ovulate (approx 10 days after start of last period).
Some women spot right before thier period (due the build up of blood in the uterine lining and the cervix preparing for menstration).
Both are completly normal.
Spotting is also common during the first couple months of pregnancy at your normal time of menstration.
If you are pregnant and your spotting is more than just a little bit of light pink, I would see your OBGYN just to be safe.
