Avatar f tn I would not take lamisil ever again. It is notoriously hard on your liver. Sporanox is really bad for the liver also.
Avatar n tn These include topical antifungals like econazole (Spectazole) or oxiconazole (Oxistat) and oral antifungals like Itraconazole (Sporanox),Fluconazole (Diflucan) or Terbinafine (Lamisil) Triamcolone acetonide is a more potent type of triamcinolone, being about 8 times as effective as prednisone. It should not be used to treat fungal infections without consulting a dermatologist. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.Kind regards.
Avatar n tn I was wondering what would be the best fungal medication for him to take terbinafine or fluconazole I read on the internet that sporanox is not recommended. What do you think I should tell the doctor to prescribe for a two and a half year old that would be safe. This discussion is related to Fingernail fungus.
Avatar m tn I was Rx Sporanox pending liver function test. AST was normal, but ALT was 52 in a lab norm range of 2 - 45. I was told possibly elevated due to my 1600 - 2400 mg/dy of nsaids (Advil gel caps). ETOH consumption moderate. If I cut the nsaids, how long should I expect to wait to retest for a drop of 7 points on that ALT score? Is 45 really the high end of norm?

Avatar m tn Hi, I have been experiencing a red painless sore covered by white colored form on top of my penis for the last two weeks. I already consulted a dermatologist and have taken SPORANOX for first two days then have changed the medication to 'Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropoinate Cream', Tablets of 'Metronizazole 400mg 'and 'Ciprofloxacin 500'. Lab report also shows no symptom of Syphilis(VDRL is negative). I am really frustrated, any advice would be highly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis on my face. I was asked to take sporanox capsules by the doc for a week and consult the doc soon after. The fungal infection subsided within that period but I did not consult the doc after that. The infection has returned once again . I would like to know if I should take the capsules once again for a week and then consult the doc or meet the doc before taking them.
Avatar n tn I apparently am very susceptible to fungus as I developed another cough a few years later and it was also a fungus. Sporanox and coq10 eliminated the cough totally after YEARS of hell! I observe that fungus related coughs go undiagnosed because typically many primary doctors do not even know how to test for it, and in the case of histoplasmosis it can take weeks for it to incubate in the cultures.
Avatar n tn my problem now is until now the thrush never fade away. i already tried sporanox and the other med for fungal but i forgot the name but stil it didn't fade away. Ive been so stressed and been traumatize of what has been happening to me.. please help me on how to eliminate this oral thrush or tongue fungal what should i do??
Avatar f tn I am currently being treated by an infectious disease doctor, and he has me taking 100mg of Itraconazole per day. The name brand for Itraconazole is Sporanox. I still have this yeast infection! The medicine has not helped me yet. Why is this happening? I don't understand why merely taking an antibiotic for a sinus infection caused me to get a yeast infection that I just cannot get rid of? If there are other people that are in the same situation, please respond to my post.
483814 tn?1214311480 Sounds like toenail fungus. Unfortunately the drugs that take care of it (lamasil and sporanox) are really harsh on your liver. Show your doc next time you're in the office. I wouldn't make a special trip unless its really bothering you. Meanwhile, don't file those nails, that spreads the fungus. It takes a long time to get rid of it. Good luck.
Avatar m tn The effect had begun at day 13-14 and until 6 weeks after the end of the treatement. After, they gave me itraconazole 200 (Sporanox) during 1 week and it worked very well. So my dermatologist conclued it was atypic pityriasis versicolor. Unfortunately, now he is retired. And I am in trouble because others dermatologists say it is eczema (clinical). They dont't understand why Triflucan works with me. They never treated me until the rash completely disappear.
Avatar f tn The preferred conventional oral treatment is Sporanox pulse therapy daily for a week followed by a three week rest, repeated for three months. A clipped nail sample should be sent for culture before treatment. Expect a 60% to 70% cure rate. It’s unsafe for people with heart disease, may damage the liver, and interacts with other drugs. So your doctor has to watch carefully! Consider tea tree oil, a safe natural over the counter remedy. It’s a powerful antibacterial and antifungal agent.
