lipitor

Avatar m tn Finally, the PF people at Pfizer told me that while the firm recommends that the Lipitor pills NOT be broken in half or cut in half, they do say that it is perfectly okay to do this under doctor's prescription or recommendation, and that there is no negative downside at all to cutting Lippy in half. However, they do recommend not breaking them if no need to. So there. Case solved. Happy camper I am.
Avatar n tn I was percribed Lipitor, 40mg. I have been breaking them in half and now see you should not do that. I can not swollow pills and dissolve most in my mouth with water. Why can't I do that with the lipitor? I have been trying to swollow them but by the time I get them down they are pretty much dissoved. I can't find an answer on line.
Avatar n tn All of a sudden out of no where I had a splitting headache, and I mean splitting! It felt as though my head were about to split in two right down the center of my face. I began to overheat and my face and head were very hot to the touch. I was in so much pain I thought I was about to vomit. Luckily, I was a block away from my office when this occured and I quickly parked and leaned over in my seat to try to assess my apin enough to get out of the car.
Avatar f tn I realize this may sound strange but I was wondering if any of you have a "pill cutter" at home or do you just cut your pill in half with a knife? I am cutting down on the dose of my beta blocker per my Doctor and I was wondering if I have to purchase a pill cutter or can I just cut it with a knife or razor? I am a little anxious because you aren't supposed to "crush or chew" these pills and I'm afraid that if I cut it.......perhaps it will be crumbly.
Avatar f tn I am not new to thyroid meds and took Armour for 40 years - long story. Anyway, basic question is - what would be the problem with taking the first half on empty stomach in A. M. and other half about 5 hours after a meal?
Avatar f tn There is much controversy about cholesterol, but it is muted because of pharmaceutical financial interests in statins. Half of those who die of strokes or heart attacks have no history of high cholesterol. DeBakey discounted cholesterol. My own doctor pays no attention to it. What is the true role of cholesterol and how should one proceed? I don't know, but I won't take Lipitor.

Avatar m tn This reporter, not so much for a news story as for his health, has been taking Lipitor in half doses for a year now, following a heart attack and a stent implant. He takes a five milligramme tab of Lipitor each night “around midnight”, and without fail the most pleasant and amazingly vivid dreams follow throughout the night, sometimes as many as three or four, with the last one around 6AM before waking.
Avatar n tn A solide nodule was discovered a year and half ago, and in connection therewith I also became diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease. At that time I hade started taking Lipitor, 10 mg, for high cholesterol. My endoctrinologist, an expert on thyroids, decided against thyroid hormone replacement therapy. I am supposed to see him once a year, but I see a surgeon twice a year to check on the nodule.
Avatar m tn My wife has had two episodes of severe sunburn with peeling lasting longer than the usual sunburn. She used to be able to stay in the sun all she wanted. She takes Simvastation( Lipitor) and Alprazolam (Xanex). It looks like photosensitivity has been reported with both. Any thought as to which is the most likely?
Avatar n tn 1) In studies comparing equal doses of Crestor to Lipitor, Crestor has been shown to lower LDL levels ~10% and increase HDL levels 2-4% more than Lipitor. Your triglyerides, total cholesterol, and LDL's are in the optimal range, and your HDL level is in the middle. Based on these numbers, there doesn't seem to be a need to switch to Crestor. 2) There is little evidence on the use of EPA alone.
Avatar f tn this coming from someone that has a very high pain tolerance. The pain in mostly in my pubic and tail bone but involves my hips lower back and groin area. Walking is the worst of all. I have a desk job and I dread having to get up for anything. Trying to stand up or sit back down hurts like hell too. If I sit too long the pain in my hips and pubic bone become unbearable but if I want the pain in my pubic and tail hit me so hard it almost brings me to my knees.
Avatar n tn was on lipitor for 5 months and switched two weeks ago to simvastatin in hopes of less side effects. just got some blood work done and the liver enzymes are elevated about one and a half times normal. does anyone know if its normal to see a spike in liver enzymes after switching statins or does this mean my body is rejecting the new statin?
Avatar m tn Coreg is a very potent beta blocker. You didn't post the dosage, but when my dose was increased to 50mg daily I reacted as you seem to be feeling, and it was dropped to 25 mg daily. It still worked, my ldl's dropped, my hdl's increased, and I felt better. The payoff was that my ejection fraction improved greatly, which is the goal of the drug cocktail. Lipitor shouldn't create fatigue, in my opinion and from experience.
Avatar m tn It seems the logical choice is to go back to the original statin you were taking, and stop taking Lipitor. The CoQ10 supplement certainly won't hurt you, there is in fact a lot of evidence that it is very difficult to be absorbed by the body.
Avatar m tn 80mg of zocor then after blood work 8/3/11 switch to 40mg of lipitor. Now 80mg of lipitor.
Avatar f tn My 55 year old husband was diagnosed with calcification in one of his arteries. He is very athletic always kept himself extremely fit. He was put on a dose of Lipitor of 20 mg and developed joint pain. His doctor reduced the amount to 10 mg. Now he is still experiencing extreme joint pain in his hip and has swelling of a finger joint and has injured his knee somehow without his knowledge. He has gone from a strong fit man to someone who hobbles around in less than 4 months.
Avatar f tn Yes its ok to cut it in half. It should have a little place on the pill where to cut it. If you want to be absolutely sure you can always ask your pharmacist.
Avatar m tn I have since found out it is not a good idea to split a Somac tablet. I'm still interested to hear from anyone who has an opinion about whether a 20mg tab twice a day is any better than a 40mg once a day.
Avatar f tn Because of that, most people split the dose into two half doses and take half in the morning when they get up and the other half in the late morning or early afternoon. That keeps your FT3 level steadier. You can play with what time works best for your second half dose, but most people don't take it after about 3 pm, or it can interfere with sleep. That's the very first thing I'd try. Did you take your T3 at the same time as your NT when you were on it?
Avatar f tn I was taking all my T4 and half my T3 dose in the morning and the other half of the T3 at 5pm. I have now decided to split my T4 and T3 into 4 daily divided doses. Does anyone think that it will give any benefit? I am trying to mimic the gland as closely as possible.
10996785 tn?1432812977 Hey guys. I post in different communities here. I know that it's known that lipitor has the side-effect of muscle tiredness and aches. Has anyone else have to deal with this? Man it's off the hook. I almost am paralyzed fro, lipitor. This horrible and I would like to talk to someone who's been through it. This is a very under-rated affliction IMO. I've been tested and it doesn't look like I have the Rabadolosis<sp? That spelling isn't even close.
10996785 tn?1432812977 The doctor then asked about my lipitor. She told me that lipitor has a bad side effect that can permanently damage muscles in your body, that can lead to kidney failure. I'm not saying Lipitor is bad. It does have this side effect that can effect a small amount of people. However, I without a doubt, feel as if this is my problem. Lipitor and Trazodone have combined to almost stop me in my tracks. I realize that some people may not like the talking about lipitor in this way.
