Spiriva with advair

Common Questions and Answers about Spiriva with advair

spiriva

Avatar n tn Common COPD inhalers that contain steroids are Advair, Symbicort, Breo and Dulera.
Avatar f tn Yes! Spiriva is a long acting 24 hour broncho-dialator. So this means it will dialate your airway, make it bigger so air can pass thru it easier. Adviar: is a cortico-steriod. This means it is a anti-inflammatory type med that will take the inflammed part and calm it down. These are two very different medications. one holds it open and the other calms down the inflammed parts.
Avatar f tn For 6 mths. after diagnosis, I did have insurance. So, I was prescribed Advair, Spiriva and ProAir. While having insurance, I did get a second opinion on the COPD by a pulmonary doctor as well. But, between my family doctor and the pulmonary doctor, I was prescribed these meds for my COPD. Three months after being on all these meds, I spent the sickest winter of my life. Pneumonia, bronchitis and pleurisy. I had never had pneumonia in my life. And the pleurisy lasted 3 long painful months.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with moderate COPD in Oct. 07. I too was put on Spiriva and Advair. About 3 mths. on these meds, I had the sickest winter of my life. Pneumonia, bronchitis and 3 months of painful pleurisy. I instantly stopped the Advair. Then, I stopped the Spiriva. And for almost 2 yrs. now, I am doing better without these meds, then when I was taking them. I don't suggest this stopping of meds for everyone. But, personally these meds made me much worse.
Avatar f tn Spriva which is the same type drug as Advair I believe. What Spiriva is a a capsule that you place in the device for delivery of the medicine. You place the capsule in a hole inside then when you close the top and press a button a little nail shaped metal piece stabs a hole in the capsule. You blow all of your breath out slowly then suck in slowly while it delivers a little at a time to your lungs.
Avatar m tn coughing phlegm from lungs for the past six months, have taken antibiotics with no results, did take predrisone together with SPIRIVA 18 mcg and ADVAIR 500/50 for the past month. Still coughing up phlegm and have limited lung capacity. Any suggestions comments.
Avatar m tn why do i cough up blood? my dr. has tried to explain it to me, something about air ways, air vents, etc. i do this the majority of the time maybe 2 days in between doing so. sometimes it's bright red and then sometimes a darker pink. i have 50% breathing capacity and am on oxygen. it's real scary even though i've been told not to worry about it. i take advair and spiriva and don't cough up that much but when i do and it is very little.
Avatar n tn It can be used occasionally, for transient worsening of COPD with Advair, and more regularly with Spiriva. If you find that you have a need for Proventil more than once a day, you should report that to your doctor who may then opt to increase your long acting medication.
Avatar f tn My guess would be if it is day 5 without the inhalers, then they should be out of your system. I too had problems with Advair and Spiriva. I was diagnosed in Oct. 07 with moderate COPD. Was put on Advair, Spiriva and ProAir as my rescue inhaler. After being on the Advair and Spiriva for several months, I began to become ill. Spent the sickest winter of my life, while on these inhalers. Bronchitis, pneumonia and pleurisy that was so painful for 3 months. I was doing okay before the inhalers.
Avatar m tn I currently take advair and Spiriva medication.. is this the one and only mediacation, since there are no genericand here in the united states unlike the rest of the world which has a free market, we are controlled by the drug industry.
757137 tn?1347196453 Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? Avatar f tn m on Advair or oral steroids. So I try to avoid them if at all possible. I am currently using Spiriva HandiHaler which I believe is not suppose to have any steroids but I keep getting Thrush in my mouth ! It is a constant problem even just using the Duoneb, and especially if I have to take any antibiotics. I'm, constantly having to take Fluconazole tablets after a round of antibiotics for candidiasis under my breasts and in my mouth.
Avatar f tn after checking, this bladder problem is a side effect of Spiriva...I had used Spiriva for over a year and the infections/non-infections got more frequent until I had to go to the urologist...I was on Azo Standard most of the time. I alerted my pulmonologist as to my problem and he took me off the Spiriva. Since being off the Spiriva, my breathing has gotten worse....my Dr said there was no replacement for Spiriva...I'm writing to find out what others might know.
Avatar n tn is it safe to use spiriva and advair together my sister has had laryngitis for 4 weeks
Avatar f tn My physician has prescribed both Advair 50/250 and Spiriva, along with Pro Air p4-6h prn and nebulizer treatment (Albuterol) q4-6h prn. I am still having problems breathing. Is it okay to take these all at the same time? Will there be any side effects?
Avatar f tn My husband and I were putting on one of those window kits to keep out the cold air out and I became very tired and my arms and legs felt like they were burning. I use 2 inhalers a day, Spiriva and Advair Diskus 250/50 and use Albuterol inhaler as needed. I am 70 years old. I have never been real athetlic but I find I am getting weaker all the time.
Avatar f tn I take 500 MDI of Advair twice a day and spiriva. I still smoke a little a day. I also have to work in a hot humid kitchen in the summer. I started having panic attacks when I would get busy and I would get winded easily and fustrated. I am off work presently but I want to go back soon. Anyone in a similar situation and if so, any suggestions.
Avatar f tn Since it sounds like you are sensitive to the beta agonists, it might be worth a try with Atrovent, which is a like Spiriva, but s short acting and somewhat different formula. I would speak with your physician about this medication.
757137 tn?1347196453 It is now about two weeks that I am not taking Advair. No withdrawal symptoms. Also I looked up mortality rates with and without Advair. They are just about the same. Another note. By taking Advair I developed adrenal fatigue which was so serious at times that I could not walk. I was treated for this with supplements by a physician who also practices alternative medicine. I have not had an episode in some time and am hoping that, without Advair, this problem is gone for good.
Avatar m tn I use Albuterol, SPIRIVA and ADVAIR to control Asthma & COPD. I also take CRESTOR for cholesterol and ADVIL for arthritis. In the last month (after starting SPIRIVA), when I first wake up in the morning, my eyes "roll" from right to left in an arcing motion when I attempt to focus on something. After a few attempts to focus on an object (the clock on the clock radio), the movement stops and I'm fine. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn The test revealed that I either had very bad asthma or very mild emphysema. My regular doctor gave me Spiriva inhaler to use as a trial. That seemed to stop the cough. I was immediately referred to a pulomonary specialist who put me on Advair 250/50 twice a day. This inhalation treatment has stopped my chronic cough.
Avatar n tn My lungs are great. I had a V6 test and the radiaation is very accurate. I take Spiriva once a day and Advair twice a day. Then I take breatihing treatments three times a day. And I have an inhaler. I still wheez like crazy at different times of the day. Help! This discussion is related to research.
Avatar f tn t seem to be making a difference. I spoke with her Friday late afternoon. She changed me to Spiriva as she said it lasts longer, told me to keep at the prednisone 40 mg for 2-3 more days before decreasing to 30 mg. Now she is pushing me to see a pulmonologist for proper work-up. Anyway, I thought you might want to know there is a difference between the various inhalers.......
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
Avatar n tn I am 69 year old woman, average size 12/14, and was just diagnosed with Copd and have Aeortic regurgitation stenosis. My pulmonologist put me on Spiriva and oxygen. My question is that I have 3 cockatiel birds. Will I have to give them up? Of course my health comes first. They do create quite a mess as well as dust and feathers in the air.
Avatar n tn I am 39 y/o female and have been diagnosed with asthma for almost 20 years. I had my lower left lung removed when I was 21 due to an abcessed bonchiectasis. I am a runner. Lately my asthma has been causing me more frequent difficulty. I went into respiratory distress in Feb. (a first for me) and have been having more frequent asthma exacerbations requiring longer regimens of prednisone (my worst enemy...bone loss).
Avatar n tn My tongue has a coating of white on it, not sure what it is. Your mouth is dry and sticky probably from dehydration. I have also gotten white crystals around my mouth from too much salt in diet and dehydration.
