Spiriva how to use

Common Questions and Answers about Spiriva how to use

spiriva

Avatar n tn If you are taking Duoneb there is no point in taking Spiriva because Spiriva is related to the ipratropium that is a consitituant of Duoneb. Also Spiriva is extremely drying which may be why you are feeling so uncomfortable. To be using Duoneb five or six times a day you would have to be close to death. Obviously you aren't, so you can cut back without any problem. I have serious COPD and my use of Duoneb averages 3.5 vials daily. The big question is - how bad is your COPD?
Avatar n tn does spiriva or alvesco cause acid reflux? This discussion is related to Asthmatic bronchitis, how long does it usually last? Could I have something else?.
Avatar n tn I forgot to mention that I had tried Spiriva when I was still taking steroids and experienced extreme drying, so gave it up. Now that I am rid of the steroids and am taking Mucomyst (a mucolytic) I plan to try Spiriva again.
Avatar n tn i have copd and found spiriva wasnt working for me, after several attempts at trying different things i was put on seretide 4 times a day along with ventolin and spiriva and this settled things down nicely. Go back to doctors and have a word with him/her and advise the spiriva is not working, they will try something else for him, good luck.

Avatar n tn Now I know how to use this breather. Doctors never give the full explainations.
Avatar f tn Hello all I just signed up for this group. I have SEVERE emphasima. On oxygen 24/7, albutera treatments four times a day. To weis48, yes is my suggestion to your question. I get to get my meds from VA also, when they send them....FOLKS YOU DO NOT WANT THE HEALTH CARE PLAN THAT IS GOING AROUND CONGRESS RIGHT NOW OR YOU'LL HAVE WHAT I ALREADY DEAL WITH...IT *****. Half the time I have to get my primary care doctor to call in everything but the oxygen.
Avatar f tn COPD Fev 45-50% , have been on Flovent,/Spiriva/ Proair 10 years and am sensitive to medications. I dont smoke. Have had increasingly reactive airways for 3 years, had first Dxed exacerbation last fall triggered by woodsmoke. No congestion and did not take antibiotics. Pulmo said airways 'sounded just like asthma' but do not have that Dx. Airways felt raspy, swollen, inflamed. Have slowly recovered on a higher dose of Flovent.
Avatar f tn I read that roflumilast is a new drug that controls the inflammation that causes copd to get more severe. I currently use Spiriva and this article said that there was a higher rate of sudden death with the mist inhalers in people with vascular disease. So I am thinking about switching up after talking it over with my doctor.roflumilast is a pill you take daily. So I guess your answer would be anti-inflammatory.
Avatar n tn As to Spiriva, I had to stop using it because it turned my lungs to glue. I stopped Advair because of serious choking that threatened my life. I have moderate COPD and am doing well on Duoneb (an nebulizing combination that contains albuterol) and an antihistamine. As for anything else I depend on natural supplements - vitamin B5, mullein extract, and MSM. I breathe more easily now than I have in two years. (Also Advair resulted in adrenal fatigue which I am now recovering from.
Avatar m tn My condition actually improved when I got off it. You might be interested to know that inhaled steroids do not reduce mortality. I tried Spiriva but found it very drying and had to stop using it. As of now the only prescribed medicines I use are nebulized Duoneb or albuterol and nebulized Mucomyst (for congestion). Additionally I take natural anti-inflammatories.
Avatar f tn Still awaiting improvement to attitude to do things I totally enjoy, have energy to do basic housekeeping, limit naps to one a day instead of most of the day.... My lungs seem to be dispersing copious amounts of mucus...and sinus drainage has slowed. Without any exertion I can breathe normally...whatever the hell that tis.. I'm wondering if one goes on an Oxygen therapy, do you have to continue it the rest of your life? Any assistance most appreciated.
Avatar f tn Seebri Breezhaler (glycopyrronium) 44 micrograms and Oslif Breezehaler (Indacaterol) 150 micrograms. I googled them quickly and they seem to be pretty similar both to spiriva and to one another. Can you please tell me whether you believe 1) these two new inhalers go well together and 2) it’s an improvement over spiriva.
Avatar f tn I'll try to be brief. My dr. ordered a pft last week (following three ct scans over 16 months). I had been using Spiriva for three years. My question is how long should I have been off the Spiriva for the test to show accurate results? Shouldn't I have had the test before being given Spiriva? Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn None of the existed before Spiriva!!!! I found out that if you are on Spiriva 2 years - 5 years your chances of getting prostate cancer is 50%. If you are over 60 (I am 62) the chances are 90%.
Avatar m tn Recently, I stopped eating bread, and never had to use my inhaler again. Have not used it since. A couple of nights ago, while eating out, I did eat bread and way too much...later that night my tight chest and wheezing was back. I will not be eating any more bread or anything with gluten. Also, did you know that milk and dairy products increase phlegm? They do. I stopped milk about 6 months ago, which also helped me get off the Advair. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn does anyone use the inhauler spiriva if so have you had any side affects
Avatar m tn why do i cough up blood? my dr. has tried to explain it to me, something about air ways, air vents, etc. i do this the majority of the time maybe 2 days in between doing so. sometimes it's bright red and then sometimes a darker pink. i have 50% breathing capacity and am on oxygen. it's real scary even though i've been told not to worry about it. i take advair and spiriva and don't cough up that much but when i do and it is very little.
Avatar f tn My husband and I were putting on one of those window kits to keep out the cold air out and I became very tired and my arms and legs felt like they were burning. I use 2 inhalers a day, Spiriva and Advair Diskus 250/50 and use Albuterol inhaler as needed. I am 70 years old. I have never been real athetlic but I find I am getting weaker all the time.
Avatar n tn is it safe to use spiriva and advair together my sister has had laryngitis for 4 weeks
Avatar m tn I use Albuterol, SPIRIVA and ADVAIR to control Asthma & COPD. I also take CRESTOR for cholesterol and ADVIL for arthritis. In the last month (after starting SPIRIVA), when I first wake up in the morning, my eyes "roll" from right to left in an arcing motion when I attempt to focus on something. After a few attempts to focus on an object (the clock on the clock radio), the movement stops and I'm fine. Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn I take Spiriva Respimat (tiotropium bromide) 2.5 mcg/actuation, and Wixela (fluticasone propionate salmeterol inhalation powder) for my COPD. Is there a sequence I should be taking these meds in? Is there a time frame I should use between the two meds?
Avatar n tn I have wet macular degeneration as well as COPD and my ophthamalogist theorizes that the weird "blisters" that are appearing at the site of the oozing veins may be caused by the steroid content of my asthma medication ( namely Spiriva). So he has asked me to change to something that doesn't contain any steroids. My pulmonologist has suggested I add floridil to my albuterol nebulizer.
Avatar f tn Hi I have COPD, on oxygen 24/7 (3 1/4 ltrs), bypap at night. I take Advair 50/500, an albuterol breathing treatment 2-4 times per day, I was on Spiriva until this past two weeks. My bladder was acting like I had bladder infections(there was no infection, just all the symptoms and pain of one)..went to a urologist. Dr said my bladder wasn't emptying....after checking, this bladder problem is a side effect of Spiriva...
Avatar n tn Its probably not that much help but you can use advair with provetil as I was on the two for years until I was moved to symbicort and I can still use the proventil as needed.
Avatar m tn can the bloating casue the breathing problem with those who suffer COPD? second question: am I doing harm using dilator more often than prescribed till I get into Dr. hopefully, Monday?
