Avatar f tn He loses muscle control until he rests and is recharged. For the past years, his speech has become almost unintelligible. He slurs his words and has lots of saliva where he’s constantly drooling. In watching videos of his earlier years where his speech is good, I’m beginning to wonder if this isn’t a side effect of Topomax, which I took for a very short period of time myself. I stopped due to the way it made me feel; it was better to suffer through the migraine.
Avatar n tn I can see that you didn’t have any of the serious signs like dizziness, loss of consciousness, slurring of speech, drooling of saliva, visual and speech disturbances etc. you should go meet a neurosurgeon at the earliest who would do a CTscan head to rule out any bleed that could cause compressive signs or any fracture skull . Do not wait and watch, instead take immediate medical help. I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me again for any other clarification.

Avatar m tn t KNOW what to do about it. it is not like drooling. it is not something that i notice or feel. After saying something to my friends, i'd see them wiping their faces. it is so embarrasing! First, i didn't believe it, but now it doesn't seem to be getting better or GOING TO STOP! it frustrates ME so much! I'M ONLY 22, AND I'M SO HEALTHY. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS BEFORE UNTIL LATE MAY THIS YEAR! I THOUGHT, I WAS HAVING A WATERY MOUTH, AND I'D BE BACK TO NORMAL!

I was wondering if anyone has any great success stories with ABA. I know he's been getting only a month, but already I'm getting a bit frustrated. Before he started ABA, he has gotten 6 months of other therapy- speech, special instruction and physical therapy along with his twin sister.

My husband doesn't want him to start any therapies yet because he said he's still young & he wants to give him a time because he believes that it's not Autism. We enrolled him to a toddler class instead so he can interact with other kids because he's our only child & he doesn't have playmates.

They first did a hearing check to make sure everything was ok. Then autism was another good thing to look into. Their first plan of attach, though, was "early intervention" with speech therapy one day a week for a half hour at "Columbus Speech and Hearing.
Avatar n tn My husband was diagnosed with Graved Disease and has had radio iodine therapy in March. He has since fallen severely hypothyroid and has slurred speech as well as fatigue, weight gain, and irritability. His MD has put him on Synthroid, but my question is will his speech go back to normal and if so, how long? It's very disturbing to hear because it sounds as if he has been drinking (he doesn't at all), and I'm worried how this may affect him long term.
