Language Therapist will compile a speech and language therapy programme to be delivered by a Teaching Assistant throughout the week on a daily basis, with the Speech and Language Therapist adjusting the programme as required following the speech and language therapy session that she has delivered. She said that they do educational speech therapy and that Ashtyn needs Clinical speech therapy. Is there anything that would be as helpful as speech therapy since my insurance wont cover it and the ISD doesn't do the speech therapy that he needs? Ashtyn is very behind in almost all communication skills. I don't know what else to do for him, and no one can help him!

Yes U should look into speech therapy, but therapy in general...make sure his hearing is ok......there r forms of autisum that can case speech delays...look up aspbergers (sp?).......I hope ur son responds to whichever therapy u choose.

Hello My son has recently started Kindergarten and seems to be more sensitive to sounds He was diagnosed PDD-NOS a year ago, school does not recognize a diagnosis and has him under "developmental delay" category since he is very "borderline" and while some specialists see ASD in him, others do not. He does have IEP, and teacher's assistant helping him through transition period.

I believe they cut it so that he WILL talk normal, right? If you notice he is 'talking funny', speech therapy is really awesome. But hopefully that won't be the case and the surgical snip will do the trick.

Your pediatrician should be able to recommend exactly what type of therapy he needs. Usually this is speech and occupational therapy. Sometimes physical therapy based on the need. Btw, getting a birth to three person can help with speech. He should qualify for speech therapy which does not mean he has autism.

I got the new permanent crown put in this morning. Well, I still have a lisp. I complained, and the dental assistant said I would "get used to it". I asked the lisp, or the crown? She laughed, and didn't answer. So, will I have a permanent lisp? Or will this go away? I want know if I should call them, and find a way to fix it. Thank you!

I'm glad you gave an update from your speech therapy visit. It sounds like you have a good one and hopefully you will find the right combination of food consistency and flavor. I am picking up my afo next week - maybe we can compare notes. Mine is non-hinged, so I doubt i can sleep in it. I am getting it to stabiize my foot while my foot stress fracture heals. Do you happen to have any of those black boots they often give for foot injuries?

Hi Everyone- I'm new here, but I had a question about my 2 year old boy. He was diagonosed with PDD-NOS in August and he's been getting ABA therapy for about a month now. I was wondering if anyone has any great success stories with ABA. I know he's been getting only a month, but already I'm getting a bit frustrated. Before he started ABA, he has gotten 6 months of other therapy- speech, special instruction and physical therapy along with his twin sister.

He doesn't have speech therapy. He's five years old. He speaks clearly, and has a huge vocabulary, normal for his age. I'm not 100% sure about all of it, but I know it has more to do with his brain and comprehension.

It’s never too late for speech therapy. Just go to a clinic that specializes in stuttering therapy. Not every SLP will have experience in this area as our field is quite broad. They will come up with treatment techniques that is best suited for your need!

So today was my first day of physical therapy. I was relieved that she actually knew about chiari and EDS. I had a little fun when she wanted to check range of motion...I giggled...she asked what was funny and I said remember I have EDS. After my evaluation she decided there was no way anyone should be doing manipulations to my body. I was glad. She said ok stretch and strengthening it is for you. She also said she would not be pushing down on my head due to my PFD.

Is your son receiving speech therapy? I think that is the most important thing for him to improve his language. If he is already getting speech therapy, maybe he needs it more often.

Hi, my son is almost 3.5 yo. He was diagnosed with speech delay 6 moths ago, so far he finished 6 weeks Intervention program and 6 weeks of speech therapy. He's doing great, now he has around 100 words and likes to sing songs. He has troubles expressing his emotions and wishes, and does not play with kids in preschool. He's great with fine and gross motor skills, really good climber, knows all letters, counting till 100, likes to write numbers and letters, has good eye contact.

I have a speech problem and what didn’t help me was everybody reinforcing that I had the problem. That only willed the stronghold and made me believe it more. She’s still young tell her she can speak and when people speak they don’t think about what they are going to say they just speak. And just let her do it if she stutters or anything just wait for her to finish speaking. She’ll get it down and it would help to find out why she turned out that way. My dad made me stutter.

yes he has been ordered speech therapy and physiotherapy as well. But everybody around me saying that a speech therapy can't help it. It can come back just suddenly, there is no specific and really helpfull treatment for it. thats why i am asking here that what should i do.? i don't have any idea about it. I'm sorry, I did not realize I shouldn't provide links. So, I've come back to add that there are a number of very good books about how to overcome stuttering, that way you hopefully won't have to fork out cash you don't have on real speech therapy. Simply go to the library or a good bookstore, ask the people at the desk where is the speech therapy section in the nonfiction section, and pick and choose some books until you finally find a couple that may help you.
