I went to my speech therapy this morning. She had me saying ahhhhhh, ooooh, eeeeh and reading from what looked like a grade second reader. The she made a mistake. She said, "Tell me a little about yourself." Now, being a complete windbag I went into a dissertation that rocked her back on her heels. She kept asking me to take a deep breath as i talked.
I would make an appointment for an evaluation with a Speech Therapist just so you can put you fears to rest. Most insurance will cover an eval. I do know the younger a child is when the receive speech therapy, the easier it is to correct.
Has she been nervous about anything? Has she had any accidents lately?
while it's possible that it's a normal part of her development, I would be concerned. She most likely needs speech/language therapy. I am surprised that her pediatrician isn't concerned. in the mean time, if she is responding well to flash cards, i would create activities that foster language development. help her learn to put sentences together by modeling and have her repeat you (as you are). Believe is or not, it is quite normal for toddlers to bang their head when frustrated or tired. My daughter did the same. I would just tell her over and over to not bang her head against the wall because she would hurt herself. I was beginning to wonder if she even felt pain and my uncle asked me the question also. Eventually, it stopped. I just tried to redirect her. Get him interested in something else.
3 words at age 2 is way behind in language and she would qualify for speech therapy at the least. There probably is a reason for her screaming and crying, but she can't communicate that reason to you. My daughter has tantrums really bad. I think if she could communicate why, she wouldn't have some of them. Or at least I could remedy what was wrong in some of the instances.

I do know he hums while he does activities that are fun for him. He has a lot of Energy and likes to learn new words and activities. He appears to be very social at the park. He will imitate children and try to interact with them. He is not shy around adults. He smiles at strangers and tries to sit next to other parents at the park. He wants to be the center of attention and enjoys the company of others at home. He is constantly pulling my hand to his bedroom to play with him.
My father who is now 79 had a stroke in 2007 - hematoma and he lost his speech and the right side of his body was paralyzed. However, he regained his speech and body movements after 6 weeks of therapy. But his right arm is still paralyzed.

If his receptive language is slow, then directins would be hard for him. As his speech is developing, pay attention to the areas of speech -------- receptive, expressive and articulation. Even a slight issue can cause things to be harder for him. I'd try to remain patient. As he does get closer to two, it is natural to test boundaries and authority and to try to gain independence.
doctors are saying that it will take time to get speech but one of the junior doctor said only 10% chances are there for speech from that day i am getting lot of tension about my brother.i took second opinion from the other doctor he also said it will take time to get speech i dnt know whom to belive.You people have experiance in this case please explain me about this and also wht r the things steps i have to took for his impovment.
suggested occupational therapy then speech therapy. She said that some kids who have speech delays are showing some Autistic traits that will disappear later on. My husband doesn't want him to start any therapies yet because he said he's still young & he wants to give him a time because he believes that it's not Autism. We enrolled him to a toddler class instead so he can interact with other kids because he's our only child & he doesn't have playmates.
