Avatar f tn For coordinated rehabilitation program a team of a neurologist, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist and a speech-language pathologist, a nutritionist work together to help you in your recovery. Therefore, I would suggest following the suggestion made by them and recovery will be although slow but most of the functions may be restored. In addition, it is essential to know that risk of stroke recurrence may be reduced such as by quitting smoking and controlling blood pressure.

Avatar n tn I took Chinese GERD medicine by recommendation of one of the 5 doctors I saw in China. It did not work. I also had a chest X-ray which was normal. They also did some blood test which was also normal. All 5 doctors were stumped. One said I had lung inflamation, another said I just need to relax. I came back to the states and saw my asthma doctor. All the tests showed my asthma was under control. She diagnosed me with VCD and suggested I see a speech therapist.
Avatar f tn Yes they went to consultva therapist but he said u have to go with the laser treatment after which we can start our therapy before we cannot. 738090 tn?1250622476 Thank-you, it's something to consider. I'm also thinking it might be related to GERD. Was tested for that recently and shall see what the results are.
584252 tn?1218223686 Hi i took my daughter Melissa to see a speech and language therapist today and she said from the little test she did her speech is within normal parameters, but from what i have been saying she did say she wanted to test her at school to check her understanding. She did notice that Melissa went into her own world and that when i spoke to her i had to repeat myself quite a few times.
645800 tn?1466860955 Wow, thank you for posting this. I have many of the same problems and now I don't feel so alone. Unfortunately, since I was just dx'ed in April, I don't have any advice, but I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to ask these important questions.
Avatar f tn The letter is then sent to the participating doctor of the patient to help guide treatment. In the letter, please note the statement, "the ultimate criterion for dose adjustment must always be the clinical response of the patient." http://hormonerestoration.com/files/ThyroidPMD.pdf From your test results and symptoms, you clearly need a doctor that recognizes and accepts that TSH is totally inadequate as a diagnostic by which to medicate a thyroid patient.
Avatar f tn F ollow the recommendation for Speech/Language therapy. His expressive communication is delayed and he requires professional intervention. If he is not enrolled in a pre-school program it would make sense to do so because this will expand many fold the opportunities hor him to be communicating.
Avatar f tn He just completed his k5 year and has been in speech for two years. The speech therapist believes he has a language based delay. K5 was very difficult with the phonics approach. After 6 mos of trying to teach him the alphabet and sounds with little success, I bought a leapfrog DVD. Surprisingly, within a few weeks, he knew ALL of his letters and sounds. As far as going to blends, it was an epic fail.
620048 tn?1358018235 00. I am not sure what she is going to do but I am sure I need it..What do speech therapists do anyway? With all of that, I still have a terrible headache but still happy...
Avatar f tn I want to encourage you and recommend you take pictures of things around the house that he may want or that you could show him. If you give him a cup of water show the picture of a cup of water. If you read him a story show him a picture of a book. If he wants to go to the bathroom he can show you a picture of the toilet. Here is a list of some examples.
Avatar n tn He has a great recall of events and can nearly quote books back. He has been seeing a speech therapist for minor problems and has taken a long time deciding which hand to use. He only uses his right hand to write but any other activity he may use either.
Avatar m tn Speech disorder will be recovered easily , when they are constant efforts from both patient and Therapist. Normally Breathing exercises and Speech training by therapist will be helpful.
Avatar f tn My 7 1/2 year old Daughter has recently started moving her lips for a quick second or two after she speaks. It kind of looks like she is still talking, like saying 2 or 3 more words after she speaks her sentence, but it's silent, and fast. When i ask her what she is doing, or why she is doing it, she instantly gets upset, and looks embarrased kind of like she doesnt notice that she's doing it, and she'll say, "Everyone always asks me that at school".
Avatar f tn He has been seen by a child development doctor. He has had one session of speech therapy, another in a couple of weeks. He has got an appointment with an occupational therapist next week. I received a copy of the letter addressed to my doctor with a report from when I saw the Child development doctor that said he has mild Hypotonia??? My question is does anyone have a child like mine who has or had similar development delays and what was the outcome.
Avatar n tn My son was born a normal healthy boy.......so I thought. He didnt babble much as a baby, and not very much as a toddler, so at 2 years old I took him to a speech therapist...........now he is 4 and a half and the speech therapist just noticed that at the back of his throat his uvula is doubled, and she felt the back the top of the roof of his mouth and told me he has Submoucus Cleft Palate.
Avatar n tn She began speech therapy and after 5 sessions the speech therapist said she thinks she has characteristics of autism because she lines things up and seems to have a fixation with the buckle on the chair (she likes to snap it shut herself). She also said that sometimes she doesn't make eye contact with the therapist, but we have been going less than a month so this person and process are very new to her.
Avatar f tn my mri reveals ischemic microvasular disease punctate hyperfintense foci T2 and my symptoms range from dizziness, balance, tingling in my feet and hands, problems with memory, speech, understanding and taste, swallowing and lack of smell and a constant roaring in my ears. is there anyone out there who has this and has been treated for it? has anyone been able to walk on their own again?
Avatar f tn Even a video of it happening would be good so the doc can see for him/herself. A speech therapist with training in dysphagia would be able to help you determine if it is texture, taste, or behavior that is causing the problem, and would be able to make some recommendations for treatment.
Avatar f tn It is all exercises for the mouth. But a speech therapist can help you the best with this. My son had trouble chewing and speech therapists and occupational therapists can help with that as well. So, I can't say for sure what is going on with your son. You've seen a specialist that says possible autism. I'm just a mom on the internet so I don't want to discount that. I'd take any steps that they've recommended.
Avatar f tn ve made a mistake but not always. I have also had a lot of trouble with number and letter reversals, short term memory and concentration. Avatar m tn I am a 19-year-old girl who has been experiencing trouble when finding words. It started 4 years ago, sometimes I could not remember the name of a specific word or I would remember the first letter of the world but not the entire word. I didn't really think much of it as it was not that frequent. But as of lately, it has been getting worse. For example, the other day, I could not remember the word "dishwasher" and I had to describe it instead.
