Avatar f tn I used to be very articulate, but it is becomeing increasingly difficult for me to speak, both the place my thoughts into words and make the physical notions of articulating my speech, though not so much with typing. It's as if something is blocking my words or as if my tongue stopped listening to my brain.

Avatar m tn I have numbness and tingling over my entire body (including a feeling of numbness inside-causing bladder/bowel problems) I have dizzyness, cognitive fog, balance issues, deep localized muscle pain and weakness, slurred/stammering speech and tremors. Since I have had E.B.Virus a few times in the past; I requested a blood test and it showed positive (not surprising).
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Stammering of voice is fairly common with adults after any stressful incident and could be associated with Alzheimer’s syndrome. In general, the outlook is very good with about 80 percent, as it will be resolving completely. However, the prognosis depends upon many different factors. The best thing to do would be to see your Doctor first and request that you need to be referred to a speech and language therapist. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Then there is the mechanical part of communicating our language and that is speech. Problems with speech can include just trying to get the words out, pronouncing the words, the tonal quality of our speech, using emphasis and inflection. Problems with speech can be from weakness or spasticity of the muscles of our mouths, throats and vocal cords. Or it can be with the way our brain tries to direct the speech.

Family neurological history includes MS in a distant cousin, brain tumor in a distant cousin but same family, and rampant Alzheimer's and senile dementia.

Avatar m tn t breathe all the time even though the spirometer tests were normal and I was scared about it. Have you seen a speech therapist? It made a world of a difference for me. What happened is, and I know this sounds crazy, but your body has probably forgotten how to breathe. Since anxiety makes people have bad breathing patterns, even when you're not anxious, you can feel out of breath. I laughed when I was told to go to a speech therapist but I was oh so wrong.
