Avatar m tn I had tongue tie release surgery 2 weeks ago, but now it is still quite short, I can't touch the roof of my mouth when my mouth is opwn. I had unclear speech (I can't pronounce some letters very clear, espesially r sound) and the speech didn't changed. I had very poor shouders posture and forward head posture but now I don't. I think the surgery released me from upper body tension but I still have speech problems and the tongue is quite short.
Avatar m tn There are three parts of speech--- articulation (making the sounds) is one we all think of with speech. but there is also receptive speech (the ability to take in and organize what is said to you so that you can understand it) and expresssive (the ability to formulate the thoughts you want to express, to organize those thoughts into words to speak). Motor planning has a huge impact on these speech componants.

Avatar f tn There are two types of speech disorders that occur in MS, dysarthrias and dysphonias. Speech problems where the motor muscle components of speech are affected are dysarthrias (these typically affect volume control and articulation) while speech problems that affect voice quality are dysphonias.

Avatar m tn Then there is the mechanical part of communicating our language and that is speech. Problems with speech can include just trying to get the words out, pronouncing the words, the tonal quality of our speech, using emphasis and inflection. Problems with speech can be from weakness or spasticity of the muscles of our mouths, throats and vocal cords. Or it can be with the way our brain tries to direct the speech.
9771188 tn?1405907831 Has anyone had problems communicating? I have problems with finding the right word to use. Sometimes I use I will get so frustrated. My family and friends say that I repeat myself a lot. I do know this, especially when I am excited, happy or upset. I completely lose my train of thought. I used to be able to speak in public, and train people. This has been difficult for me. Am I alone? I have battled through much worse demons than this, but I don't want to give up now.

Avatar m tn “While most of the jobs created during the recovery were in the low-wage service sector, those who still have a middle-class job are making less.” I can testify to that. I am making less today than I was 20 Years ago. I would really appreciate it if Obama gave a true “State of the Union Address”. I’ll watch the highlights but won’t watch the speech. Regardless of who is President, I can’t stand the Childish, Accessive, Applause. He could belch and get a standing ovation.
Avatar m tn t breathe all the time even though the spirometer tests were normal and I was scared about it. Have you seen a speech therapist? It made a world of a difference for me. What happened is, and I know this sounds crazy, but your body has probably forgotten how to breathe. Since anxiety makes people have bad breathing patterns, even when you're not anxious, you can feel out of breath. I laughed when I was told to go to a speech therapist but I was oh so wrong.
Avatar n tn Have been having such an aray of problems for atleast six years. I can start of saying I just recieved a positive diagnoses of Narcolepsy with cataplexy. But along with all that I have had a questionable diag of MS...clinicalally drs say it looks like it had several mris firdt one having lots of tiny plaque and neuro said that he was comfortable to diagnose it...then as my attacks and symtoms are very rapid and pass within a couple of hours to days they are sceptical...
Avatar n tn it never goes away, despite meds, only changes. At its worst, nausea, vomiting, pressured speech, difficulty finding words, remembering what i am doing, completeting tasks. it wakes me while i am sleeping lasts from the moment I wake up, and doesnt go away laying down. At its best, dull pressure.I had neck pain with no headache 2 weeks ago for a week daily. Everyone is telling me to see a doc, but my crnp just wants to believe its a migraine and prescribe meds, which I believe is wrong.
Avatar f tn My 4 year old granddaughter has obvious speech problems. It is very hard to understand her. Her speech patterns have also changed. She used to call her mother "Mama-ee" and now she calls her "Mahee". She cannot pronounce her own name, Meaghan. I want my daughter to get her a hearing test and she says she does not think she has a hearing problem.
