I tried cutting out various anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medications to see if this helped the issue, but it didn't help any. The following things seem to make it worse - 1. Caffiene 2. Tiredness 3. High sugar content 4. Speaking with strangers or people I don't know as well I have my good and bad days, but the issue seems to be getting worse.

Avatar m tn I wasn't always like this. In fact, when I was younger I was very fluent with the tongue and could eloquently speak even the most complex sentences. Today I am 19, and I have trouble speaking 100% and words/sentences end up being tongue twisters for me. It makes me unconfident when I want to ask a question knowing I probably wouldn't be able to say it right. It's like when I speak my tongue kind of trips itself, or better say that it gets "stiff".
342647 tn?1291107933 s developing her speech normally. Like Joy, I think that if your daughter is older (3 or 4) and having problems with stuttering and pronunciation then you should get her assessed. My friend has a 4 year old who I still have trouble understanding. She always has to "translate" for me. One of the reasons for this problem could be her chronic ear infections causing her to have trouble hearing herself and others.
Avatar m tn Still, even if your son does not have autism, keep on top of the speech teacher. If you are still having problems understanding what he is pronouncing, have they (speech teacher and the doctors) ruled out verbal apraxia? Hopefully it is just the tubes in the ears and he will catch up. If he doesn't have speech therapy over the summer, make sure you work with him on his language and get him playing with other kids his own age who are verbal.
Avatar m tn I started to think and act in a desperate manner. I developed symptoms like, a faster speech and reading speed, whole body shaking, and difficulty performing simple mathematical operations, difficulty pronouncing and spelling some words as well as muscular pain in my calf. Shortly, all the symptoms I mentioned diminished except for the reading problem, muscular pain and speech difficulty which is noticeable when I speak loudly or angrily.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm a 24-year-old male who a couple weeks ago began noticing myself having a hard time pronouncing S's here and there. My significant others couldn't notice it and so I just ignored it. A week or so later, however, I notice my tongue felt numb and tingling. I looked at it in the mirror and it appeared to be shaking. (Note: I have not noticed it shaking since that day, although it does feel numb).

Avatar m tn I had tongue tie release surgery 2 weeks ago, but now it is still quite short, I can't touch the roof of my mouth when my mouth is opwn. Avatar m tn There are three parts of speech--- articulation (making the sounds) is one we all think of with speech. but there is also receptive speech (the ability to take in and organize what is said to you so that you can understand it) and expresssive (the ability to formulate the thoughts you want to express, to organize those thoughts into words to speak). Motor planning has a huge impact on these speech componants.
