speech

645800 tn?1466860955 This test checks your ability to decode (ability to quickly and accurately process speech), Tolerance fading memory (ability to understand speech in noise and short term memory), Integration (ability to pull together auditory information), and organization (organize and sequencing of auditor information). Basically they present 4 words that you have to repeat back, but they say other words in the opposite ear at the same time. Again I had horrible test results.

Avatar m tn I do not have Sjogrens, Lupus or any of those auto-immune diseases according to my Rheumy. I would have to say the swallowing problems came first but now my speech is being effected dry mouth or not. I do this most everyday at some point or another. This started this year, it is my fairly newest symptom.
Avatar m tn Then there is the mechanical part of communicating our language and that is speech. Problems with speech can include just trying to get the words out, pronouncing the words, the tonal quality of our speech, using emphasis and inflection. Problems with speech can be from weakness or spasticity of the muscles of our mouths, throats and vocal cords. Or it can be with the way our brain tries to direct the speech.
Avatar f tn I have chiari 1. With two large syrinx in my spine. One at my neck and one between shoulder blades. A lot of pain. Numbness. Speech problems. Balance issues. Brain fog.
Avatar f tn See this list of side effects. It can cause speech and body pain. But weakness is a different matter I think. So I think you should report this to the doctor. It makes you tired for sure. I am on Topamax XR. I can't concentrate, dry mouth, dry eyes, fatigue, Hard to pull words out. I initially had severe fatigue that got better after 2-3 weeks. Also had bad tingling in the fingers or hands and feet. That mostly goes away with time. https://www.mayoclinic.
9771188 tn?1405907831 Has anyone had problems communicating? I have problems with finding the right word to use. Sometimes I use I will get so frustrated. My family and friends say that I repeat myself a lot. I do know this, especially when I am excited, happy or upset. I completely lose my train of thought. I used to be able to speak in public, and train people. This has been difficult for me. Am I alone? I have battled through much worse demons than this, but I don't want to give up now.
Avatar m tn You really need to get him seen by a doctor. Verbal apraxia can also create problems with speech. So can a language processing disorder or an auditory processing disorder. My sister had a form of that, not autism, and had to be in speech and language therapy through 5th grade. She later got straight As in high school and college. Therapy helped immensely.
1054923 tn?1258520071 I tend to be low/normal blood pressure I average 118/76 also very up and down since this medication but it has not gone above 138/87 I completely coherent at all times, no speech problem or numbness. My symptoms in a nut shell are woozy, bad vision(blurry), sore eyeball(behind), dilated one pupil maybe more often but I just happen to see it in the mirror that day and the one time streak thing. I woke up with the sore eyeballs this morning.
1088527 tn?1425313375 I had this test 3 yrs ago and it showed food getting stuck on right side so went to speech therapy learned some tricks. Avatar f tn I used to take Effexor and felt it really helped until I started getting tongue cramps and problems with speech fluidity. I then went back to Lexapro and have less problems but still have some speech issues and tongue cramping or freezing. Is there an anti-depressant that has less side effects? Does it sound like an allergic reaction or something neurological? I feel I need the medication but can't tolerate speech issues.
Avatar f tn He still experiences all of these problems and prevents him from working. He took speech therapy for 3 months with no change. He sees a neurologist monthly and nobody has any answers. He did have a videostroboscopy last week and the speech pathologist said that he is having spasms and suggested we get a second opinion as to what is causing this. They suggested going to the Cleveland Clinic or the Mayo clinic which we can't afford to make it there at this time.
Avatar m tn t breathe all the time even though the spirometer tests were normal and I was scared about it. Have you seen a speech therapist? It made a world of a difference for me. What happened is, and I know this sounds crazy, but your body has probably forgotten how to breathe. Since anxiety makes people have bad breathing patterns, even when you're not anxious, you can feel out of breath. I laughed when I was told to go to a speech therapist but I was oh so wrong.
Avatar f tn Hi Sherry80 & glad you found this forum.......very informative. Sorry to hear about your son. I am in the process of completing all final testing to schedule surgery. Some doctors will do surgery unnecessarily & some doctors brush Chiari off as though it is insignificant. I suggest you find a Chiari specialist for your son first & foremost. Has he had his CSF flow checked or CINE MRI done to see if he has any occlusion or interruption in the flow?
Avatar f tn My 4 year old granddaughter has obvious speech problems. It is very hard to understand her. Her speech patterns have also changed. She used to call her mother "Mama-ee" and now she calls her "Mahee". She cannot pronounce her own name, Meaghan. I want my daughter to get her a hearing test and she says she does not think she has a hearing problem.
Avatar n tn I am a mother of a 7 year old boy with ASD, semantic pragmatic disorder, disordered speech, auditory processing problems, auditory memory problems, sensory integration disorder, dyslexia as well as problems with attention and focus. So I know what it is like to have multiple diagnosis that overlap and make it hard to sort out the root cause of difficulties. From your post it sounds like he is trying to communicate, but can't.
Avatar f tn i still remain undiagnosed im 30 years old . had all sorts of problems migraines face pain memory problems musle aches back pain tingling numbness in feet my wrists turn in when i sleep ???? fatique thats unbearable feet that are like ice poles . there are times when i start to feel better but the bad spells are now outwaying the good . im so scared i dont know what to do anymore . i have been diagnosed fibromyalgia cfs and a few years ago adhd because my memory so bad .
1579968 tn?1296402551 Okay, got it. I'm going to suggest that you place your name on the list to have your son evaluated by a developmental specialist. I'd urge you to try to see an occupational therapist. Not engaging with a game that is physical or otherwise would indicate that it is difficult for him and he avoids it. His speech problems go along that line of thinking as well. Don't assume he has adhd because other things like sensory integration disorder can look like that.
293420 tn?1243142938 I requested this a few months ago and got a reply saying that it would be considered...but, still nothing. There are at least 5-8 posts per week about Speech/Language delays in the child development forum. I'm an SLP and my son has Apraxia (motor speech disorder). Not only do I have lots of advice to offer to parents of children with speech delays, but it would be nice to network with other moms going through the same experiences. Hurry!
