Avatar n tn Her symptoms have included anemia, speech problems (now we find out a swollen tongue is a symptom), soft tooth enamel and for the last 3 years she has had a muscular problem that causes her to freeze up and drag her foot. We've seen 3 neurologists and had numerous EEG's and MRI's, even a psychiatrist after being told (a lot) that it was in her head. Finally, after my insistance, they did a test of T3 and T4 and she was found to have low thyroid.

Avatar f tn I t has just made me feel normal coz at any given point I`m ( we all are) going through some of the things in the speech and it just makes me feel like I`m going insane. I kept my second pregnancy private and only told my family and two close friends.
Avatar m tn I've had problems in the past with slurred speech, but it's mostly just fatigue. Do you have any lesions in your neck?
9771188 tn?1405907831 Has anyone had problems communicating? I have problems with finding the right word to use. Sometimes I use I will get so frustrated. My family and friends say that I repeat myself a lot. I do know this, especially when I am excited, happy or upset. I completely lose my train of thought. I used to be able to speak in public, and train people. This has been difficult for me. Am I alone? I have battled through much worse demons than this, but I don't want to give up now.
Avatar f tn Jacqui, my son too had speech problems at that age. In fact it seemed almost as if when he was younger and only spoke one word at a time, it was more clear. I also thought for awhile that he was being "lazy" with his words, but it is not their fault they just don't have the tongue strength. I too had just moved to a new town and didn't know a lot of the resources available. I spoke to his doctor and she recommended a speech therapist evaluation.
Avatar m tn Recently, I've noticed 8-9 floaters. Should I be worried? Is it going to get worse? From what I've read, floaters in younger people are located in the premacular bursa but what exactly causes it?
Avatar n tn As a step-mother myself, I suggest that you leave the parenting to the parents. If you try to correct your step-son's behavior to him, it could interfere with your ability to form/maintain a relationship with him. I am not saying that you should do nothing. You can research the problem and find some interventions that work. I also suggest that you discuss this problem with your husband so he and his ex can formulate a way to address the behavior.
1088527 tn?1425313375 I had a modified barium swallow on thurs due to more difficulty in swallowing and too much weight loss on average 5lbs a month. I had this test 3 yrs ago and it showed food getting stuck on right side so went to speech therapy learned some tricks. Things have changed this time for the worse the test showed that food is getting stuck in my esophagus and wont move even after large quantities of fluid.
Avatar m tn I could not ever bring myself to suggest she gets accessed for ADHD or medicated, unless I can directly see her having SIGNIFICANT problems in her life. She is certainly very happy. She does CONSTANTLY interrupt me no matter what I am doing, but again I am not sure if this is normal for her age. I am not after getting my housemates treated for ADHD at this stage, I mean they are happy, everything is going well, why mess with the situation? But I am certain all of the adults here have it.
Avatar m tn s becoming such a problem and you might have to push him to get there. In the mean time, maybe try taking it slow. It sounds a little silly but when my husband was having problems with keeping it up and actually having an orgasm he found that making out like a bunch of teenagers really helped take his mind off of the stress. Maybe you could also try boosting up foreplay and making sex be more about him as he could be feeling very insecure about his body.
281565 tn?1295982683 I'm still slurring but at least the stuttering has pretty much gone. Legs are still wonky and I'm still lacking big time in the energy department. I think me brain has gotten stuck in park as well.lol Lulu, thanks for finding the consonants but the m didn't come back yet with the others. I had the vowels as they stuck around so speaking is easier.lol Daddy is doing okay.
Avatar n tn My daughter (15 years old) has been recently prescribed 50mg Zoloft for mild depression. I am very scared that this is not the right way to deal with the problems that she has and in particular scared of side effects and withdrawal dramas eventually. Do you have any suggestions how I could help her deal with depression without the medication and is Zoloft very dangerous to start with?
Avatar m tn Like i said, its been going on for 3 months, and i havent even been able to get one normal deep breath like i used to in that span of time. I saw a lung specialist, did the test where you blow into the machine, and i was told my results were normal. How can this be? I dont feel like i can breathe as well as i used to. Im supposed to go in for one more test but the doctor seemed pretty convinced that i was fine. So then what could be making me feel this way?
Avatar f tn My 4 year old granddaughter has obvious speech problems. It is very hard to understand her. Her speech patterns have also changed. She used to call her mother "Mama-ee" and now she calls her "Mahee". She cannot pronounce her own name, Meaghan. I want my daughter to get her a hearing test and she says she does not think she has a hearing problem.
Avatar n tn I had speech problems ( in #1 ) and now I am talking fluently after taking mirtazapine. Whats going on? Thank you and expecting your answers.
342647 tn?1291107933 That is normal and it actually sounds like your baby might be advanced in the speech department! Just keep speaking clearly and talking a lot to them and they'll pick it all up. Your pediatrician will start assessing speech development during visits. At least they SHOULD. You might notice, as they do the exam, the doctor will ask your child questions like, "What's your favorite food? Do you have a special toy?" to coax them into talking to see how well they speak.
Avatar n tn Is she delayed in her speech or language? I have seen children do this when they are having a hard time communicating with others. I made a necklace out of a teething toy for a child that was having problems with biting. We taught him to bite the necklace when he was angry instead of another child. This really helped him. She could be having sensory issues that can be identified by taking her to an Occupational Therapist. I do not believe this is happening for no reason.

Avatar n tn I've had these things for 14 yrs now, & this is the first time i've ever gotten involved w/ a forum! my story is similar, but for sure more severe. there must be a genetic component, b/c my mom (i'm 35) has been able to guide me through it since she had the same thing. she hasn't had one (i think) since menopause, so we believe there's a hormone component. lots of things to say that seem like might help others, so here goes!
Avatar m tn There are three parts of speech--- articulation (making the sounds) is one we all think of with speech. but there is also receptive speech (the ability to take in and organize what is said to you so that you can understand it) and expresssive (the ability to formulate the thoughts you want to express, to organize those thoughts into words to speak). Motor planning has a huge impact on these speech componants.
Avatar m tn t say much. Not communicating very much has fed my speech problems and really hurt my social skills and my self-esteem, so I've decided to finally try to do something about it so I can feel comfortable making conversation with people. After listening to recordings of my speech and watching myself speak on video and in a mirror, I definitely noticed that I don't speak with very good articulation.
