I went to my speech therapy this morning. She had me saying ahhhhhh, ooooh, eeeeh and reading from what looked like a grade second reader. The she made a mistake. She said, "Tell me a little about yourself." Now, being a complete windbag I went into a dissertation that rocked her back on her heels. She kept asking me to take a deep breath as i talked.

She said that they do educational speech therapy and that Ashtyn needs Clinical speech therapy. Is there anything that would be as helpful as speech therapy since my insurance wont cover it and the ISD doesn't do the speech therapy that he needs? Ashtyn is very behind in almost all communication skills. I don't know what else to do for him, and no one can help him!

Yes U should look into speech therapy, but therapy in general...make sure his hearing is ok......there r forms of autisum that can case speech delays...look up aspbergers (sp?).......I hope ur son responds to whichever therapy u choose.

Six weeks after radical prostatectomy (robotic) PSA is 0.04. Pathology report was t3b. Gleason 9 with seminal vesicle (1) positive, perineural invasion, and tumor 16mm outside the prostate, but no lymph node involvement and no positive margins. Does any PSA at all at this point mean metastatic disease, or could this still be residual from before surgery? (PSA before surgery 5.6). I really need to decide on follow up treatment or waiting for PSA increase. Only 59y/o. Thank you.

Is it just me? Or, does anyone else miss getting learning materials in the mail? Remember when you could sign up, receive a free mag. and, while sitting on the sofa with you legs up, grab it, read the articles, put it down, only to pick it up again later and finish it? Or re-read it until it sinks in? I'm all for downloading issues on topic of interest of mags for free - but not ALL of them. I seriously miss some fact filled magazines that would come with the seasons.

occupational therapy 4xs a wk, I’m going to have to go to speech pathology for therapy – to make sure I don’t start to aspirate when I eat/drink. Anyone else have problems like this? Thanks!

Immunohistochemical studies for estrogen receptor and progesteron receptor are negative. My questions: No special type? What does that mean?

Btw, getting a birth to three person can help with speech. He should qualify for speech therapy which does not mean he has autism.

Hi, Brain injured patients may receive rehabilitation that involves individually tailored treatment programs in the areas of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, physiatry, psychology, and social support. A complete physical and neurological examination is needed in each treatment program. I'm glad you gave an update from your speech therapy visit. It sounds like you have a good one and hopefully you will find the right combination of food consistency and flavor. I am picking up my afo next week - maybe we can compare notes. Mine is non-hinged, so I doubt i can sleep in it. I am getting it to stabiize my foot while my foot stress fracture heals. Do you happen to have any of those black boots they often give for foot injuries?

Hi Everyone- I'm new here, but I had a question about my 2 year old boy. He was diagonosed with PDD-NOS in August and he's been getting ABA therapy for about a month now. I was wondering if anyone has any great success stories with ABA. I know he's been getting only a month, but already I'm getting a bit frustrated. Before he started ABA, he has gotten 6 months of other therapy- speech, special instruction and physical therapy along with his twin sister.

He doesn't have speech therapy. He's five years old. He speaks clearly, and has a huge vocabulary, normal for his age. I'm not 100% sure about all of it, but I know it has more to do with his brain and comprehension.

It’s never too late for speech therapy. Just go to a clinic that specializes in stuttering therapy. Not every SLP will have experience in this area as our field is quite broad. They will come up with treatment techniques that is best suited for your need!

Is your son receiving speech therapy? I think that is the most important thing for him to improve his language. If he is already getting speech therapy, maybe he needs it more often.

My husband was diagnosed with Graved Disease and has had radio iodine therapy in March. He has since fallen severely hypothyroid and has slurred speech as well as fatigue, weight gain, and irritability. His MD has put him on Synthroid, but my question is will his speech go back to normal and if so, how long? It's very disturbing to hear because it sounds as if he has been drinking (he doesn't at all), and I'm worried how this may affect him long term.
