Avatar f tn My son, Nathan started "flapping" his hands around 2-years old. He started speech therapy at 4. He was always very co-operative. So when he was 4 he was put on a IEP. He started kindergarden in Chicksands, a Air Force military base in England. It was a the District of Georgia we were in. Anyway, I had alot of support there with speech therapy, small muscle therapy and a program that was made for him to attend kindergarten all day. He was not very co-ordinated.

Avatar m tn I would also ask for a second opinion on the pathology by a specialist in gynocoligical pathology. Your Dr is right they often will perserve fertility in those of child-bearing age and then do a complete hysterectomy. But I would ask for first a referral to gyn-oncologist (ask around if you can find one familiar with borderline tumors as they are rare) and a second opinion on the pathology. Good luck and take care.

Avatar n tn But for a diagnosis a number of professionals should be involved in assessing your daughter. She will need to be seen by a Speech and Language Therapist to see what her language and social skills are like. She will also typically be seen by a clinical psychologist and maybe a neurologist. Avatar f tn In addition, you need to get the copies of the pathology report from the colonoscopy and read them. I you had/have colitis in any form that needs to be followied up on. There would be 'visual' evidence in the colonoscopy - and if someone visually saw something, there's going to be some indication in the pathology. Even if it wasn't U.C.
Avatar n tn I'm a senior in high school and I'm in a medical program there I'm 31 weeks pregnant and I'm not sure what I should do. With the program I'm in I can be a registered EMT by the time I graduate but the teachers there keep telling me I can't do it because they have 24 hour shifts and they call you at all times of the day. Should I do EMT regardless cuz it has a good result in the long run for me and my little girl or should I wait until I go to college and major in nursing?

But requested second opinion pathology report which came back as ADH, not DCIS. Breast surgeon says I have three choices - do nothing, tamoxifen or proceed with radiation. What should I do?
Avatar m tn Then there is the mechanical part of communicating our language and that is speech. Problems with speech can include just trying to get the words out, pronouncing the words, the tonal quality of our speech, using emphasis and inflection. Problems with speech can be from weakness or spasticity of the muscles of our mouths, throats and vocal cords. Or it can be with the way our brain tries to direct the speech.

Avatar n tn Delayed speech with heaviness and numbness in the tongue can all lead to slurred speech or dysarthria. Dysarthria refers to slow and distorted speech, such as slurring. It results from the inability to control or coordinate the muscles used in speaking. It could be caused due to traumatic head injury, stroke, bell’s palsy, degenerative diseases of the brain etc. I think in your mother’s case it could most probably be stroke or bell’s palsy.

Days later, I developed nystagmus only upon waking that lasted for about 10 minutes or so. That eventually went away after about a month. About six months later I had a severe headache that migrated to my right eye and lasted for over a week. Went to an optometrist, no optic neuritis.
